I forgot I took this picture several days ago after sitting my shoes outside to dry off. We’d gone off the beaten path and through lots of mud and rain water on one of our adventures, and something in me admired where my shoes had taken me this year.

As I’ve pondered lately about what I want for my birthday and Christmas coming up, I can’t help but think about what I wanted so badly last year around this time. I wanted shoes and bras and workout clothes and gear to start 2020 off right and begin my . It wouldn’t be until January that I finally picked out shoes, but I was ready to make a change.

This time last year I was headed into an unhealthy season known as “the holidays”! I say that jokingly and seriously at the same time! I was still newly post-partum, busy with homeschooling, busy with activities, busy with commitments and quite frankly just putting myself last! I knew all the right things to do, I knew all the right things to cook, I knew all the right things to snack on—I just wasn’t doing it!

If you look in my photo album on this page, you’ll see the first picture I took of these shoes! They were brand new, I was so excited and I had no idea what the months ahead had in store for me...

These shoes carried me along indoor tracks and nature paths. Welcomed my surprise elliptical in February. Continued the fight for better health during the early COVID months. Welcomed spring and warmer weather. Became sweat soaked in the dead of summer. Hauled and supported the labor of our move. And most recently got soaked in one of the most fun afternoons I’ve had in a long time.

While not where I wanted to be at almost my year anniversary, these shoes have seen me through a 50+ lb weight loss in 2020! It is not lost on me those who struggle with weight, those who hate the holidays and pressures related to body image. It is not lost on me hating how you look in family photos, or dreading what you’re going to wear around family. I have been there and you are not alone in your journey!

Buy the shoes. Put some on your list right now. A Cinderella slipper of sorts that you gift yourself this season as you walk into a new year and new goals and opportunities.

Find what you love doing to get your body moving. Find someone to text about your temptations. Find the seasonings you enjoy. Find the trails you love. Find a workout buddy. Find your WHY. Find out your family history! Find Jesus and the strength only He gives! Find YOU. Find you AGAIN.

Because in a year you might find yourself imperfectly happy with dirty active wear in your hamper, a sink full of dishes from yummy recipes, and messy tennis shoes. SO MUCH CHANGES IN A YEAR!!! Let me tell you.

Be thankful this holiday season you’re still around and able to create a life that creates the best version of YOURSELF. Be thankful.

On the left I was VERY newly post partum, and happy with how my body was feeling, healing and adjusting back to normal. However, I would end up gaining more weight through the fall and winter due to unhealthy choices on my part.

When I began my journey back in January, I had been through pregnancy, losing weight, then gaining weight right back. I can’t believe it’s been 9 months of making my health a priority!

I made it to (just right past) 50 POUNDS GONE this past week!!!🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳 A major milestone in my !!

There are MANY paths to physical and nutritional health, and MANY benefits to nurturing your physical, nutritional, emotional, mental and spiritual health.

NEVER GIVE UP.

GIVE. YOURSELF. TIME.

Last year doesn’t count because I was only a few weeks PP, but I can promise you I have NEVER worked out on Labor Day!!

I will take today’s time for myself away as a small victory in the month of Sept. We are all on the cusp of new routines, new schooling, new activities, new everything. Keep yourself a priority! And remember we are all in the new swing of things together🖤

Thank you for holding me accountable and keeping me motivated to do my best and live in the best version of myself!!

Celebrating 8 full months of showing up for myself every single day!!!!🥳🥳🥳

Post-partum mamas working on your bodies,

Your core strength WILL. COME. BACK. Forget a waistline...it’s a struggle even getting out of bed, lifting laundry baskets, hauling groceries, etc for a good while!! Starting in January, I could hardly lift up off of the floor for crunches. Today, I crushed a workout that included full sit-ups, jack-knives, Russian twists and a lot of other core strength moves. I did certain things with ease, that earlier on I struggled through even modifying. You will get there, and you WILL reach your goals! Baby steps. Get inspired by the tencacity, commitment, eagerness and persistence your kids have!!!! They’re what we’ve got deep down, without all the stresses and burdens of life getting in the way of our mentality!!

Sweating my lashes off tonight, y’all! 🏋🏽‍♀️

For those who follow me who aren’t on my personal Fb page...the big announcement coming I had mentioned a few weeks ago is that I’m running for Mrs. Virginia and will be a part of an amazing pageant in May!

Part of this pageant/competition is SWIMSUIT😱🤯Thankfully, from what I know and have seen...the Mrs. Virginia America pageant welcomes women of all beautiful shapes, ages, sizes, etc. BUT STILL...walking across the stage in a swimsuit😅 That will be a HUGE milestone in my health journey...one that I never saw coming when beginning my weight loss/strength training/nutrition back in Jan!

I’m excited for the opportunity, motivated to keep working hard, proud to represent and looking forward to where my will take me the rest of this year and into the Spring🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

“Do you have lose skin?”
YES. I do. I had a 360 body lift September 2018 and I did get the majority of the lose skin on my stomach but I still have some left on my upper stomach, arms and legs. Will I be getting it removed? One day. I’m not in a rush but I definitely want to get it all removed. Being over 360 lbs, my skin will never go back to “normal”. I’m okay with that. I’m proud of my results and how I got here today and I don’t let my loose skin stop me from anything 😊

Today was a combination of a 1mi trail walk, and an evening HIIT workout! I am doing my best to stay on track despite our days being chaotic lately!

I am still enjoying many of the same meals and snacks I’ve shared before so nothing new there lol...and I’m excited for fall weather and crockpot/seasonal recipes soon 🙏🏽🍂

Last night I enjoyed bang bang shrimp tacos 🍤 for our anniversary dinner...they never disappoint! My date night dress was a size L from She Chester💕👗I was so proud of myself for this year’s hard work when I left that dressing room!
