How to Reduce Cognitive Load in eLearning
Interesting addition to the Daniel Kahneman book “Thinking, Fast and Slow” which builds on the work Kahneman did with Amos Tversky – which is always fascinating. Michael Lewis wrote an excellent book on their relationship called “The Undoing Project” which is well worth a read.

What are the best strategies to create the top 5 must have learning tools, that you need to make you click on this link? It's genius.
A cynical look at linkbait masquerading as informative articles
1. A photo stock image of a classroom with highly engaged people.
2. Opening paragraph must include a problem applicable to all organisations.
3. Exciting graphic, of the high/low, good/bad vector style, cartoon animal optional.
4. Mention Gamification, Engagement, and The Product you're trying to push.
5. Don't base the article on any kind of academic research, this will detract from the message
6. Throw in a bonus: keep it short, people only read 1st paragraph & conclusion anyway.
For example: Fine, great nothing here to complain about, except that I've heard it all before and you're telling me nothing new...

An introduction to Computing covering; Python programming, SQL databases, HTML pages, Android apps, General computing concepts and much, much more.
Lectures: 217, Duration: 24 hours, available on iOS and Android
For many students, the abstract concepts are a barrier to progressing with computers. This course engages the pupils using a story about Eye DunnowTM, the town that runs the Internet. Each chapter corresponds to a lesson and follows the adventures of Zeta and Peta Byte as they try to stop the mysterious Hacker from destroying the world wide web. In the town, abstract computing concepts are real. Servers are downtrodden migrant workers, data streams filled with bobbing packets of data wind their way around the town and programming languages come to life as characters whom we first meet in the Space Bar.
Each chapter contains analogies, that will help people with no knowledge comprehend complex computing terminology. The aim is to encourage pupils to use their imagination to create hooks on which to hang the tricky to understand concepts - and hopefully to get them to finish the syllabus.
What you’ll learn:
How to program in Python; variables, conditionals, loops, lists, interfaces, text functions etc.
How to manage Databases and create SQL queries using MySQL
How to create HTML and CSS web pages
How to create your own small Web Server
How to connect your web page to a database using PHP
How to create an App in Java for a Mobile Phone using Android Studio
How computers, hard disk, networks, servers, firewalls, operating systems etc. work
Plus information on jobs, applications and project management.the best bit is, all the software you need is free, you just need a PC and the Internet
You can, of course, just watch the videos explaining computing fundamentals and follow along with the demonstrations, if the idea of learning by story telling isn't your thing.
All of the software you need is free, you just need a computer that you can download, install and run the software.
