Just wanted to say hi! It's been awhile and some of you haven't met me. I'm Mica, the face behind this page. Wanted to wish everyone a wonderful National Indigenous People's Day. Let's all take some time to remember where each one of us has been in life, and where we are heading towards. I've been to too many funerals as of late and I suppose it won't slow down as we climb this ladder of life. Remember that sometimes it's the small things that impact people hugely. We may never even know what a kind word or a smile did to brighten someone's day.

Another year went by yesterday... I'm not going to tell you how old I am, but I AM going to tell you a few things I miss about my generation growing up.
I MISS:
- the crackle of a record player as I laid on the floor listening to grandma's Walt Disney stories
- when kids didn't get everything they asked for
- cabooses
- kids playing outside on the streets till dark
- when people weren't so over sensitive
- when kids costumes were creative and homemade
- the candy corner in the mall
- Canadian Heritage commercials (I still can't look at burnt toast the same)
- Popples, and Rainbow Brite
- when kids refered to their elders as Mr/Mrs and Aunt/Uncle out of respect
- when you could sneak into the living room and watch cartoons till Mom/Dad got up
- when you heard the theme song to Cheers and you knew you had stayed up really late
- when parents parented
- dancing to Paula Abdul on my friends ping pong table
- when there were more kids than dogs in the neighborhoods
- watching Astro Boy, and ThunderCats
- having to hold the tinfoil just right in order to get channel 12
- farmer vision
- watching my brother count all his change from his paper route
- physically going to get a movie rental
- carrot juice (you'll have to ask my cousins about that one)
**But most of all, I just want to feel the buttons when I make a phone call !!!

Slowing down and trying to enjoy the simply things in life....2023 went fast, let's embrace 2024 with a slower speed.

A very Merry Christmas to all of my fantastic friends, family and followers. May you feel the warmth of our God & Creator this season and into the new year. May we all remember to see the blessings among the chaos. May we choose to be a light when things seem dark.

So our Christmas cards never came. Yup. Just the envelopes... Awesome. In the grand scheme of things, it's not the end of the world. But it IS a good reminder that things often don't go as expected.
So to all of you who struggle during Christmas. I am thinking about you today. I understand the difficulties of the holiday season with struggling family members, whether it's self induced or not, or just plain bad luck.
Keep being awesome and showing your light.
