This is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things--

COVID 2020 style my family and I decided it would be a good idea to adopt a puppy because “it will be fun”. After our beloved 16 yr old dog passed away (thanks 2020) there was a hole in our home that only a puppy could fill. We scoured the internet and found Mattie, the cutest little nugget that my husband just had to have. Two months later she arrived on a plane from Texas. This is when the fun began.
As soon as this fluffy creature arrived at our house everyone fell in love with her fuzzy ears, sweet face, and waggly tail. My four-year-old was especially smitten with her. He hugs her too tight, pets her too hard, and pins her down to kiss her. All in the name of love of course. She is a great dog and tolerates his shenanigans. To put it kindly, my house is a zoo these days. Dog toys are all over the house, a huge dog bed is now in my living room, and being a puppy she has to p*e every five minutes. I ask myself daily why we added an energetic puppy to this stay-at-home chaos, but then Mattie jumps in my lap to snuggle and I am smitten too.
My house may not stay clean and we may be wearing our lounge clothes for more than one day, but this is COVID 2020, right? We love our new puppy and most days I am glad we got her.
