My artist page, as opposed to my personal page. My personal page, Garr Lange, will have many full length recordings with both released and unrealeased songs, which I can’t post on this page. It will also direct you to my SoundCloud page that I’m in the process of rebuilding.

17/10/2022

I have neglected this page since it is so hard to navigate and post songs. I hope to find a way to do that.

Side by Side Garr Lange 1986
(The Wedding Song)

She can fill you with emotion that you can’t understand
But don’t you forget, boy, she is your best friend
She can soothe any notion that you just cannot shake
With a word, a touch, or maybe nothing at all
But it takes a little time to learn her ways

Step by Step
Hand in Hand
Side by Side
Now you go

She can rock you like a cradle when night descends
Oh she’s steady with the moon, boy, and you can depend on it
So if you take a little time, she is heaven sent
To comfort all your highs and lows
But you gotta treat her right
You must treat her with love and kindness

Step by Step
Hand in Hand
Side by Side
Now you go

She’ll greet you in the morning
Like a ray of sunlight
And she’ll take you on her shoulders
Where you’ll ride boy ride

Step by Step
Hand in Hand
Side by Side
Now you go

Step by Step
Hand in Hand
Side by Side
Now you go

She’ll greet you in the morning
Like a ray of sunlight
And she’ll take you on her shoulders
Where you’ll ride boy ride…

ALL I GOT TO OFFER © 2021 Garr Lange

I CANNOT PROVIDE ALL THE THINGS I WANT FOR YOU
I CANNOT GIVE YOU EVERYTHING YOU NEED
I CANNOT DO EVERYTHING YOU WANT ME TO DO
ALL I GOT TO OFFER IS TO KEEP ON LOVIN’ YOU

YOU KNOW HOW TO SAY ALL THE THINGS I WANNA SAY
YOU KNOW WHEN TO GIVE AND YOU KNOW WHEN TO TAKE
WHAT I CAN DO IS WHAT I KNOW I CAN DO
ALL I GOT TO OFFER IS TO KEEP ON LOVIN’ YOU

I WANNA SEE EVERYTHING YOU WANT ME TO SEE
I WANNA BE EVERYTHING YOU NEED
ALL I CAN DO IS WHAT I KNOW I CAN DO
ALL I GOT TO OFFER IS TO KEEP ON LOVIN’ YOU

I AM NOT THE MAN I ALWAYS WANNA BE
DON’T DO ALL THE THINGS I KNOW I SHOULD
I PROMISE TO DO WHAT I KNOW I CAN DO
ALL I GOT TO OFFER IS TO KEEP ON LOVIN’ YOU
ALL I GOT TO OFFER IS TO KEEP ON LOVIN’ YOU…. LOVIN’ YOU

I realized that once my novel Bay Hymns went live through Xlibris, Amazon, and Barnes & Noble, I really had no other writings to show for it. My second novel isn't published. My plays, though produced, aren't published. My short stories aren't published. And now that CD's don't exist anymore, the liner notes of my albums, which had all the lyrics in them, are gone, p**f! So, I'll use this page as the place where you can find my lyrics. I work very hard on them to get them just right. They are as much an art form as the music and the melodies behind them. So tomorrow I will begin posting them to this page and if anyone has a particular song in mind that they wanna read the lyrics, give me a shout out and I'll be happy to oblige!

LISTEN © 1987 Garr Lange

Listen to the falling rain
Tapping lightly on my lid
Listen to the evergreens
Gently swaying in the wind
Listen to the northern train
Moaning a cry to “Watch out!”
But some folks never hear the sound
Too busy talking about themselves

Outside the rain is falling
Repeating an old refrain
Telling me “Hush!” in a word of wisdom
Listen… Listen, she says
Listen… Listen, she says

Listen to the ebb and flow
Of the river rolling by
Listen to the eagle wings
Gently strumming the sky
Listen to the ocean wave
Finally strung out to the end
But some folks never hear the sound
They’re on the outside looking in

Outside the rain is falling
Repeating an old refrain
Telling me “Hush!” in a word of wisdom
Listen… Listen, she says
Listen… Listen, she says

She’s telling me “Hush!”
In a word of wisdom
Listen, she says
Listen…

HERE SHE COMES ©1988 Garr Lange

I wake-up in the morning to a sunrise moonset
Fumble in the cupboard for an old cigarette
I pour myself a coffee to bring on the muse
Here She Comes, Here She Comes, bearing the news
That it’s a long, long road to where I wanna go
Down the pike across the river to the valley below
Move up the draw to begin another steady climb
And be careful my boy to read the signs

Here She Comes (Over your shoulder) she whispers to me
Here She Comes (Another step forward, the nearer you’ll be)
Here She Comes (Take a moment to collect your mind)
Oh yeah (Don’t rush me darlin’, I’m four-four time)
Here She Comes (Take my hand, together we’ll climb)
Oh yeah (Trust in me, I’m the light that shines)
Here She Comes (Together we’ll go, together we’ll stand)
Oh yeah (Spread the sound all over the land)

It’s later in the evening, turn the light on my desk
Search the whole room for one guitar pick
I find myself a bread tab to strum in the muse

Here She Comes (Over your shoulder)

This kid is ridiculous and definitely the future of the blues is in good hands!

I'll be on Dan Weedin's "Unleashed the podcast' Tomorrow 12/4 at noon. Dan is a great interviewer and I certainly have some stories to tell. Signup (It's free!) so you can ask questions as the interview rolls along. I promise not to be boring. But if I am, you'll have a chance to tell me if you signup and watch live. I think Alexa will take you there as well as long as you signup... 'Unleashed the podcast' with Dan Weedin and Garr Lange tomorrow at noon.

Why isn't Davey Knowles a superstar? Cuz he can't sing, can't play? The dude is this generations Stevie Ray. And he's an outstanding singer (for being a guitar player).

04/11/2020

I've been neglecting this side because I've been caught up in something else. However, the boy is back. Music talk. Like, isn't Richard Marx underrated? Dude could write, sing, and play. A real musician who had a great voice and wrote great pop songs, a hard thing to do.

My blog Dead Level is back... paste deadlevel.club in your browser (not your search menu) and it will come up. My first blog entry, Act Naturally, is a commentary about the country music business. I think very apropos in light of recent events... where are all the black folk?

01/11/2020

So this smoky guitar thing for my cover is apropos for what's going on next door in Cali! Whatever you do, don't 'Run Through Fire'! And don't start any either!

Did you ever see Garr Lange & The Big Rig when we came to Seattle and Oak Harbor? We had a show at the Officer's Club in '86, made the front page of the Whidbey News-Times, picture and everything written by Lee Brainard? She was such a good writer. Made us look like the Real Deal! Good band. Great show.

And the Backstage was full, and Meeker's wanted us to play two sets but it wasn't in the contract. The manager practically attacked me on stage when we got done with our set, and as we were breaking down our gear, he comes running up and says another 100 bucks for another set! I looked at Mark and he said, "And all the beer we can drink, including our friends." We drank all night. And we made a lot of friends that night. Essentially it was a free bar for about fifty people. Honest truth!

Is that messed up> My music page doesn't have my music?

How come the bride gets to choose the Wedding Song, and who sings it?

16/10/2020

How come Johnny Rivers doesn't get the love he deserves...?

16/10/2020

Morgan Wallen's 'if i know me' album is the best bro country album I've heard in years. Normally I don't like to hear heavy southern drawls from a singer(s), but this guy is the real deal. His songs are his truth, which I like to hear from an artist, rather than a bunch of hope-so singles strung together. Dude can sing too. If he doesn't screw it up (like he's seemingly trying to do), he'll be a superstar.

16/10/2020

I dunno, but watching Grace Potter's 'Love is Love' video makes me wanna love everybody in the whole world.

15/10/2020

Okay I give.

14/10/2020

'There were seven spanish angels at the altar of the gun'... I think Ray Charles exhibited his vocal brilliance when set next to Willie on their duet.

13/10/2020

For those fans of The Rig, go over to SoundCloud and listen to Mark Sutton's rendition of 'Cry On Virginia'. He's singing and playing all the instruments, of course. He makes some nice vocal choices that left the hair standing up on my arms... Let me hear your sound!

13/10/2020

Just listened to Jimmy Smith's The Sermon over on You Tube. It just doesn't get any better than that. I was listening to Jimmy in the third grade. Loved the sound of the thing he was playing. And a pretty good batch of musicians along with him. The credits look like the Jazz allstars, and I'm not talking hoops.

11/10/2020

Pop Rock production has definitely reverted back to the 'wall of sound' treatment. Phil Spector would be proud. Huge chorus, synth pads drenched in reverb, doubling the lead vocal. Sorta takes the fun out of it.

07/10/2020

They're coming to take me away... anybody remember that song?

05/10/2020

Most people don't realize that there is a whole community of songwriters in Nashville whose job it is to write songs for their favorite singers. And it is ultra competitive.

If you look on the upper left corner of the painting, you'll find that Charles wrote some text. The sentence is... Pick up your guitar and play! I had quit playing guitar some years back until I had a dream where my Aunt Helen Eerkes, who had died years before, said to me in a soothing voice, "Pick up your guitar and play." So I did. A year later I recorded Crossing the Line. The first song I wrote after picking up the guitar was Dim the Lights, possibly the best song I have ever written. I guess I had more to say. Thanks Aunt Helen.

There's so much destruction out there now, we've just gotten used to it.

30/09/2020

How about favorite alltime lyrics? Maybe a line, or a verse, or a chorus? Let your light shine, C'mon now, let it shine...!
