2023 has been a great year and I cannot wait to see what the new year brings. So many incredible moments including the marriage to my beautiful wife, finding a home LARP, one big festival LARP, and so many fun get togethers with friends. So grateful for all my friends and family for their love and support this year.

This group of guys right here give me so much happiness and hope. Pictured alongside me is a friend group of young men who have lifted not only one another but me and everyone else they play with without question. They are really an embodiment of what it means to show up and be not toxic, anti-racist, and feminists in their roleplay and actions both in and out of game. I never have to worry when playing with them and that is honestly so freeing and gives me so much hope for the future of LARP when young players like them step into the scene and set such a positive example for others and especially other white guys. I love this group of friends so much and I’d fight beside you in the shield wall any day. 💙

So many life updates have happened in the past few months, I married my lovely partner .reverie.photography last month! I’ve returned as the coordinator for Silver Camp at Drachenfest US, and have spent some wonderful times with friends and also finished this season of Malleus just two weeks ago!

I drift to the river’s edge, until there I may find my peaceful rest. ✨

My wedding is less than a month away—I am so excited and so overwhelmed, but incredibly grateful for my amazing partner and the support of our friends. It is going to be a beautiful day and I cannot wait to see it all come together.

I want for nothing, I seek only the magic of the water and the serenity of change. ✨

Currently, neck deep in wedding prep for myself and also working on a villain costume for Malleus. Savoring the colder weather that has finally arrived after a blistering summer. Now that the weather has finally cooled down, I can actually take photos outside and schedule some shoots. I’m excited to share this really cool photo taken at Malleus back in May—the blue glow was created with a glow stick shoved under the bridge of my helm. 🤪

Sharing another photo from the May event of Malleus—I ended up purchasing this one and I’m so glad that I did. Kevin who photographs these events does a spectacular job at capturing players in their element and remaining practically invisible to us as we are often very rapt in the moment. I’m always so incredibly grateful for the photographers who give others a peek into the worlds we create at events.

Previewing a villain I had the opportunity to play at Malleus in May. I’m hoping to completely revamp her design and elevate her into something pretty terrifying for people to engage with in the future. She was going to be some nameless fighter, but she inspired so much more. There is something deeply satisfying about playing the creature that goes bump in the night or the killer that taunts an encampment from the darkness.

Another photo to share from the very warm May event at Malleus in which I discarded most of my outer layers, rivaled only by the most recent event, which was basically unbearably hot. Right now I’m in full blown wedding prep mode—my next LARP event won’t be until after my wedding in later November. I cannot wait for this one though as it will wrap up the 2023 season of Malleus.

This was me throwing on costume pieces for a fit check before last weekend’s Malleus event in which I pretty much did not wear the combination of all of these, due to how incredibly hot it was. Here is hoping the November game is nice and chilly. 🙏❄️

A bunch of my incredible friends came together this weekend to surprise me for my birthday, all thanks to my beautiful and amazing partner .reverie.photography . I am so grateful to her for assembling all my nerdy friends to celebrate at a very HOT and very CROWDED opening day at the Maryland Renaissance festival, but the libations and cake afterwards at home made up for all the sweating we did. ☺️🩷

The anticipation for this next Malleus event is growing which means I need to do some fixes on some of my costume pieces along with adding some details to new elements of this character’s costume. Personalizing already constructed garments though a fun process can be tricky, especially when they are already fairly detailed and well constructed pieces. Wish me luck!

Photos of our May event at Malleus have finally dropped and I’m so excited to share a few. The weather got quite warm during the day, we were shedding our layers to keep cool. Thank you for for the refresher on archery, in truth I have not picked up a bow and shot one seriously since I was a kid and first learning archery, so don’t nitpick my form to pieces—it has been so many years, have mercy on me 😅

Time seemed to stand still—only the gentle pull of the water and the mist that shrouded her form kept her consciousness tethered. She was a sacrifice given to the water.

So excited for the first Malleus event after a summer hiatus that will take place in just a few weeks. I’m in crunch mode to get some last minute costume repairs and updates finished in time. I cannot wait to see all my friends!

She came to rest under the boughs of a great tree that grew on the edge of the river bank. Its roots stretched up from the water covered in moss and grass as her head came to rest on one of the mottled protrusions. As the water lapped around her a mysterious fog began to appear.

Bernadette listened intently, she was still new to the Drachenwald and the hushed words of the Grande Arbiter, Charlise de Gransvert were valuable. She tried to internally drown out the extolling voice of the witch hunter at the far end of the table as he sang praises to his god, Solkan. Why wouldn’t he just leave them in peace and find another fire to warm himself by?

Recovering from the experience that was and impressed by the scale and commitment of so many. I am so proud of what we accomplished in Silver Camp taking home second place in the competition. This past weekend was my fourth Malleus event and wow! I had an incredible time, so many intense moments of roleplay that were absolutely exhilarating. Also some moments in the night that were absolutely, TERRIFYING. September cannot come soon enough, but thankfully I have Drachenfest and Bicolline to tide me over in the meantime.

Throwback photo for the photoshoot done for Burgschneider last summer. This past weekend the temperature climbed into the 90s in the Maryland/DC area. I'm looking forward to attending Bicolline this summer where warm days become cool nights.⁣
