New support group with CLIMB Wellness & Counseling
⭐ We have a HUGE announcement! ⭐
The new BlueDot Project program, BlueDot Safe Spot, will focus on reaching and educating medical practitioners and their office staff on Perinatal Mental Health and the pathways to mental health support for their patients. It will create “Mental Health ‘Safe Spots’” for parents throughout the pregnancy, postpartum, and post-loss period.
Participating medical offices, community health centers, clinics, high school nurse’s offices, etc., will take Perinatal Mental Health training to ensure they have the appropriate knowledge and language to properly support perinatal patients. The goal is for anyone who may come in contact with a patient in the perinatal period to have the basic knowledge and awareness to better support them. After training, they will be identified as BlueDot “Mental Health” Safe Spots and showcase the BlueDot in their offices, on their website, etc.
BlueDot “Mental Health” Safe Spot program will start the conversation between practitioner and patient, allow the practitioner to confidently follow up with support and resources (through PSI services), and provide general awareness around Perinatal Mental Health and TheBlueDotProject.

all over the world to shine a light on the number one complication of
childbearing - perinatal mental health disorders (PMHD). Families,
providers, and allies gather to climb, walk, or stroll together to
highlight the importance of perinatal mental health and community
support.
In 2024, events will take place during the months of June and
late September/early October. Climb events are led by volunteers,
mostly survivors of PMHD.

Approximately 9% of women experience postpartum post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) following childbirth.
Most often, this illness is caused by a real or perceived trauma during delivery or postpartum. These traumas could include:
☑️Prolapsed cord
☑️Unplanned C-section
☑️Use of vacuum extractor or forceps to deliver the baby
☑️Baby going to NICU
☑️Feelings of powerlessness, poor communication and/or lack of support and reassurance during the delivery
☑️Women who have experienced a previous trauma, such as r**e or sexual abuse, are also at a higher risk for experiencing postpartum PTSD.
☑️Women who have experienced a severe physical complication or injury related to pregnancy or childbirth, such as severe postpartum hemorrhage, unexpected hysterectomy, severe preeclampsia/eclampsia, perineal trauma (3rd or 4th degree tear), or cardiac disease.
Join us for our online Birth Trauma Support for Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) Birthing People support group ❤️
Led by trained peer facilitators, this group is for any Black, Indigenous, Person of Color (BIPOC) who has experienced trauma (mental and/or physical) during childbirth. Did you feel unsupported during childbirth? Did you feel unheard or felt a loss of control? Have you been grieving your birth experience? You deserve support. Birth trauma is based on your perception of the experience, and no formal diagnosis is needed to join this group. Some common symptoms, but not all, that can occur after birth trauma are upsetting memories, avoiding talking about the event, and having negative thoughts/feelings about the event. BIPOC birthers can also experience trauma related to racism, discrimination, oppression, and specific cultural views and beliefs. This group is a place to discuss these experiences with other BIPOC birthers and facilitators. You can be at any point post-delivery, from 1-week to many years. This group is specifically focused on birth trauma and connecting with others, so you can know that you are not alone, and you are not to blame. While your story has so much value, in this space we will not explore birth story details as they could be triggering to others. We encourage you to reach out to a licensed healthcare provider to process your birth story. In this group, we will discuss the effects of trauma, our emotions, and coping skills.
This group is not for:
- partners or non-birthing parents
- those who experienced a pregnancy or infant loss (please join one of our loss groups for support)

Amazing news!! 💜💜
I called a Lyft for the first time in my life to take me to pick my car up from the dealership; halfway into the trip, the Lyft driver got a call through the car regarding his car, and it was out for repo. He took the phone off the car and told the guy he can have it in 2 weeks; well, I've been in his situation before and knew that they didn't want to hear that being the car is already in repo status. I asked him a few questions and decided to call the bank and pay his account current. To see that young man cry like that had me in tears. He didn't ask me for anything! I'm glad I could help him from the bottom of my heart and not for show.
I left him with this: some of the best of us, including me, have been where you are; keep pushing; better is coming.🙏🏽🩵 its a blessing to be a blessing and in a position to help this young man.

1 in 5 new and expecting birthing people experience Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs).
PMADs, commonly referred to as “postpartum depression,” are a group of symptoms that can affect women/birthing people during pregnancy and in the postpartum period, causing emotional and physical problems that make it hard to enjoy life and function well.
These conditions are incredibly common, yet many women are afraid to talk about how bad they are feeling due to the shame and stigma surrounding maternal mental health, or they don’t know where to go or who to turn to. PMADs can strike at any time during pregnancy and up to one year postpartum. Despite the catch-all term “postpartum depression,” 50% of all PMAD cases develop during pregnancy.
The good news is that PMADS are TOTALLY TREATABLE. With the right care and support - PMAD symptoms can be treated, leading to improved long-term health and mental health outcomes for mom and baby.
If you are experiencing a PMAD, call 212-335-0034 to speak with a care coordinator or complete an online new patient inquiry form via the link in bio.
