Gambian players should be seriously warned to stop celebrating national figures of other countries while representing our country.
Our level of national consciousness is very low.
Our captain celebrated Bai Nyass, a natioal and a religious icon of Senegal, in Africa Cup of Nation Cameroon 2021, and similar unfortunate action is just being repeated by our under 20 captain.
Some of you reading this post might think that this a trivial issue, but in some countries, including in our neighboring countries, such actions could lead to a national outrage. In fact a Senegalese captain or a player celebrating Bai Nyass whil representing the country would definitely be consequential.
You cannot celebrate a national icon of a foreign country while you are representing your country. This is an offense and insulting to us as a country, and anyone with national consciousness would definitely condemn this action.
Keep your personal conviction and belief to yourself. You are not representing yourself, you are representing a nation .
