A Pushtun tribal para force recruitment congregation at the house of British Political Agent (PA) for Khyber Agency.
Tribals with their own weapons, and significant clan size were preferred for specific assignments, and awarded with the socially prestigious title of 'Malak'. The Malaks would in turn recruit full time 'Khasadars', a para military force considered loyal to the Crown, and had access to several Government entitlements, besides a financial stipend.

This cabinet card photograph shows the home of John Marshall Dickey, shown as number 1 in the image. Dickey was a veteran of Co. A, 44th Tenn. Inf. Regt, CSA. He was detailed as a blacksmith until captured at Chickamauga (Geo.) on September 18, 1863. He was held as a prisoner of war at Rock Island until released in May 1865. The Dickey family lived near Kelso, Lincoln County...

Mir Abdul Rehman was the prime distributor of Kanan Devan Tea 1900s till the partition. During the transition he flee to Pakistan taking his family, leaving a very successful life, his estate and businesses behind.

Islamia College Gujranwala was established in 1912 as Khalsa High School Gujranwala with the donation of Khalsa Committee(a Sikh educational trust).Sir Louis Dane , the 13th governor of Punjab, laid its foundation. Just six years later on 30 March 1918, it was upgraded to the status of a college and named Guru Nanak Khalsa College Gujranwala. It is one of the oldest colleges of the Punjab.
The foundation stone on the college building shows the name of Sant Attar Singh, a Sikh reformet, who laid the foundation of the college on March 30, 1918.
After the partition of India, Anjuman-i-Islamia Gujranwala took possession of this college and on the other hand, after migration Khalsa Education Council established a new college with same name called Gujranwala Guru Nanak Khalsa College Ludihana. It was On 25 November 1947, the institution was renamed Islamia College Gujranwala.
In September 1972, the college was nationalized and in 1990 it was upgraded to post-graduate level then to graduate level college in 2021. Right now its working as coeducation college at graduate level offering BS in Physics, Zoology,Chemistry, IT, English,Mathematics,Urdu, Economics, Political Science and Islamic Studies with more than 5000 students. Its ancient building structure is the marvellous example of architect. It has produced many CSP, Doctors, Engineers, Ministers, poets, scientist and so on. Former president of Pakistan Rafiq Tarar was also the student of this college.
