Country Nest

Hand crafted Country and Equestrian style home decor. Made for lovers of the countryside by a count

We just want to take a moment to send you all a MASSIVE thank you for all your support, especially with it being such a strange year for us all.
We haven’t been very active on social media as we’ve been mega busy with existing orders and didn’t want to let anyone down by promoting anything which we can’t deliver on.
But we are pleased to say we have been working round the clock and now have availability to take a limited amount of new orders over the next week. With the pheasant feather baubles being hugely popular, we thought we’d show you our latest ones. As we have a big mix of country and equestrian customers, we have combined the natural beauty of pheasant feathers with 100% English leather trims.
We can gift box them in ones, twos, fours or sixes, making them great stocking fillers. We are also super excited to say we’ve kept back some beautiful melanistic feathers (swipe to see them) for a select few limited edition baubles.
And finally, we hope you are all well, safe and have a wonderfully special, albeit different Christmas.

We’re getting our Halloween vibe on here at Country Nest HQ. Due to high demand we now only have a handful of these absolutely stunning, limited edition, melanistic pheasant feather wreaths left.
The feathers of the melanistic pheasant are hard to come by, making them quite rare. They are so beautifully iridescent, they change from black to blue to green depending on how the light hits them.
These handmade wreaths can be hung on doors and walls or used as table centre pieces, making them luxury decor pieces to add to your home or event.
We make only a limited number of these a year so once these are gone, there won’t be anymore until next year!
DM us to enquire about getting your hands on one of these stunning pheasant feather pieces.

Who is feeling Autumnal?
A great way to include equestrian decor to your home and garden this Autumn is to use a horseshoe candle holder.
You can choose from repurposed shoes, or your own horseshoes, to create a beautiful piece for your home or garden.
We’ve got backorders on the go for our horseshoe pumpkin candle holders, so if you would like one (or maybe one for either side of your fireplace) for your home, garden, or yard, then please let us know as soon as you are able, so we can make sure we get your orders to you in good time.

Happy weekend everyone! Add a touch of equestrian luxe to your celebration decor with one of our hand forged horseshoe wine racks. Popular as wedding or general celebration gifts, they add a splash of special to any home or event.

We can create your wine rack from either repurposed shoes we have here, or you can send us your own shoes as a beautiful keepsake. Available in cream or black. You can even add a personalised message or names which are stamped in to the shoes!

£35 each plus p+p.

Website coming soon, but for now, you can send us a DM to order.

We were recently asked to design and create a gift for a couple who were supposed to be getting married this month, but due to lockdown, their wedding had been cancelled.

We were honoured to be given the opportunity to create something beautiful, which can also be used as part of their wedding decor when it goes ahead, and a keepsake which will be displayed in their home for many years to come.

Our ‘Two Become One’ pheasant feather wreath is available to order should you wish to give somebody you know a special gift during these turbulent times.

We hope you are all well and staying safe 🤎🤍

Let’s talk textures!

There are lots of aspects to consider in well balanced interior design, such as colour, shape, pattern and line, but texture often gets overlooked.

Texture in a decorated space can be described as either visual or tactile. Visual textures are those that immediately appeal to your visual sense on first glance. Tactile textures, on the other hand, ignite your sense of touch, forcing you to feel them to appreciate them.

Incorporating natural textures, such as feathers, fur and wood will bring a luxurious or rustic feel to a room. If, like us, you love everything outdoors and countryside, this is a quick and easy way to bring the outdoors in to your home. What textures do you use in your interior design?

Have a great Monday everyone!

We were recently asked to create a keepsake for a horse owner who, having sadly lost their beloved four legged friend, asked us if we could create something using the last set of shoes her horse had on. The owner wanted something she could use on a regular basis to remember her horse by, so we created this candle holder for her.

It was an honour and pleasure to be able to create this piece. 🤍

Do you use feathers in your decor? A simple spray of tail feathers can really add texture, depth of colour and drama to any room.

If like us, you love the outdoors and nature, this is a really simple, but effective way to bring the outdoors inside.

Happy Sunday everyone. How are we all doing today?

We’ve gained a few followers lately so thought now would be a good time to say hi 👋 and introduce ourselves.

Pictured with the feather wreath is myself, Rachael Carter. I make all the feather decor pieces in our range. My husband, Mat, is the other half of the team. He curates the horse shoe and metal ranges. He’s currently busy cooking brunch for the kids (since lockdown he’s taken over the kitchen!🙈) so I’ll get him to introduce himself at some point.

I started making feather wreaths over 10 years ago (may even be longer than that but once you reach a certain age all the years start to get a bit blurry!). I’ve always loved anything creative and I found making wreaths for friends and family a good way to relax.

After quitting my job as countrywear buyer/marketing manager for a local retailer last Summer, I got stuck in to making the wreaths more frequently as a good distraction from what, at the time, was a big change of lifestyle and a very stressful time.

My extremely supportive friends suggested I should take my ‘hobby’ to the next level, get my backside in to gear and create a business doing what I love.

And so, after a lot of hesitation, self doubt and telling myself ‘who the hell would want to buy my stuff, right?’, Country Nest was launched in October last year. And wow, what a rollercoaster it’s been since then! In the run up to Christmas I had feathers coming out of my ears getting stock made up for orders, Christmas shows and also somehow managing to dec out pubs, hotels and b&b’s!

Since the lockdown I’ve been grateful for the slower pace of things. It’s given us time to look at building the long awaited website and start making stock for the busier Autumn/Winter season.

We’d love to hear what you guys are doing (or not doing!) to stay positive at the moment. Wishing you a lovely Sunday and we hope you are all well and safe x

We’d just like to take a moment to thank our wonderful NHS and keyworkers for their amazing hard work during these turbulent times.

We are all experiencing fear and uncertainty at the moment, but we cannot even begin to comprehend the sacrifices our wonderful NHS staff and front line workers are going through at the moment. We are truly grateful for what you are doing.

We personally have friends who are risking their own safety everyday to support your loved ones who are currently alone, and need extra care.

Please, stay home and stay safe, so we can all come through the other side of this together 💙

We love seeing our wreaths in their new homes! 🤩

This is one of our 14” c**k pheasant feather wreaths made for The Six Ashes country pub in Bridgnorth, Shropshire. We think the wreath matches perfectly with the cosy country interior. 💫

We’ve made many decor pieces for rural businesses and never get tired of hearing how they make great talking points.

If you know a country pub, hotel or b&b that would that our wreaths would look amazing in tag them below!

Happy Friday peeps! Nearly the weekend.

This week we’ve been working on commissions for local shoots. This handsome wreath has been created for a client as a beautiful memento for a shoot which was most memorable for him. The wreath was made from a pheasant he shot himself and will be a wonderful keepsake to remember his day. We can imagine the stories this will spark at the dining table!

You can drop us a DM to order yours. Have a lovely weekend!

Wow! We’ve been absolutely blown away by the amount of love we’ve had for our handmade creations!

Thank you so much to every one of you that have supported us during our launch (since only mid October!) whether you purchased from us, liked or shared our posts. It really does mean the world to us.

Due to Rachael, our designer and creator of our feather decor pieces, having a bit of an accident at the weekend and cracking her ribs (she had a run in with one of our stone statue horses when she slipped, and the horse won. Apparently it leapt out and attacked her but we’ve yet to check the CCTV for such evidence 😉), things have had to slow down a tad at Country Nest HQ. So we are reluctantly closing our order books for orders in time for Christmas. We would hate to see our customers let down so we need to concentrate on the orders we have on back order.

We hope you can understand why we’ve had to make this decision. Current orders may take a day or two longer than expected but we are doing what we can to get them to you.

We can’t wait to get going in full force again in 2020!

Wishing our customers and supporters a wonderful festive time! ❤️

We tried to get a pic of both the dogs but the pheasant feathers were too tempting for the little pup 🙈 So here’s one with the well behaved CN mascot, Tom.

Hope you’ve all had a good hump day!

We’ve been blown away by the positive feedback we’ve had and how many orders have flown through the door for both the horse shoe designs and feather creations. We really do appreciate every comment, like, enquiry, referral and order that comes our way.

All of our hand made creations are made with passion and super attention to detail.

Our horse shoe pumpkins have sold like hot cakes and we now only have a few left! 🎃 Each one is hand crafted by us (well, that’s the royal us, I mean the hubby part of the team).

The horse shoes are upcycled as we really believe in bringing back to life materials which would otherwise go to scrap or thrown away. Each shoe gets scrubbed down, buffed, polished and lovingly welded together to make gorgeous accessories for your home and garden. In this case pumpkins! £35 each plus p&p. Grab one before they’re gone!

Our Story

Country Nest was created by country loving lass Rachael Carter, starting out as a passion for making beautiful home decor accessories using pheasant feathers for her home, friends and family. Rachael began experimenting with a range of designs and materials and the range soon grew in size and demand. From country homes, pubs, shoot rooms, to even weddings, Rachael’s wreaths and other accessories bring a touch of country luxe to a variety of interiors and events.

Being a horse lover, and married to Equine Dentist, Mat Carter, the couple are introducing an equestrian decor range for 2019 with Mat’s artistic skills with horse shoes. Country Nest is the go to place to bring a dash of country and equestrian style to your home.
