My first Music from the Bunker video. Released this originally three years ago on my first EP, "All You Stupid Sheep." IMHO, it's held up well.

Out Of The Mainstream (Live in the Bunker) 27/12/2023

What I learned from Seth Godin was that no matter what your creative endeavor might be, it really doesn't amount to much unless you "ship" it. Say what you want about my lo-fi indie rock, I ship as much stuff as anyone. Here is a live version of my newest one, after being down in the bunker this afternoon.

Out Of The Mainstream (Live in the Bunker) I've done an acoustic and electric recording session. This one is live, straight to my phone, with some EQ and mastering tweaks.

Out of the Mainstream 23/12/2023

I have a two-week break from my day job in education. Really enjoyed writing, and then putting this one together this week. Transitioned over to BandLab and really dig their plug-in for electric guitar and vocals. Taylor Swift I'm coming for you!

J Mascis - Full Performance (Live on KEXP) 20/12/2023

I've been a longtime admirer of musician J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. Like Neil Young's influence on my own music and guitar style, J's influence is always there. I'm continuously amazed at how long this indie guitar god's been putting out great stuff that still tracks the indie channel. He knows who he is and doesn't try to be someone else.

This a great live set from KEXP's live archives from when J released his solo record, Elastic Days.

Love just J and an acoustic guitar. Need to figure out his rig and how he gets that ratty distortion from an acoustic guitar.

Great night playing music in Harrisonburg, VA at The Friendly Fermenter. Great people, maybe the best craft beer I've ever had, and it felt really awesome to be back out there playing my music in front of people who appreciate local music. I think Harrisonburg is the music locale I've been looking to find after moving to Central Virginia. Hope to be back, soon.

Kudos to Tiana Artese for shooting photos and video and allowing me some new content to push out for marketing my music in 2024.

Looking forward to this coming Saturday when I'll be playing for the first time in at The Friendly Fermenter from 6 to 9. Hoping fans of original music come out. I'll be playing originals and covers and plan on having some fun. I put together a playlist highlighting some of the songs I'll be playing.

The Music Shift, by JimBaumerME 30/11/2023

Miss Mary Jo Ellen and me watch our local news station, ABC 13 - WSET most mornings, mainly for the weather, but we catch the other stuff that passes for news.

This morning, the Barbie talking head was sputtering on about Spotify and the top streaming artists, and of course, had to mention the top music grifter, Taylor Swift. Then, began the patter among the news puppets about streaming and of course, as someone who plays music and has my stuff up on because, like being a writer and having it on Amazon.com (another service that sends pennies to you for your art), it seems like you have no choice.

Then, after the news, I popped my headphones on and listened to one of my favorite bands, Gold Connections (formerly from VA and now in New Orleans) on Bandcamp, and their new live record. At the very end, Will said, "buy our record," which is what I plan to do, just like I've done in the past. Because I know that at least on , they send you more than a penny for a stream. You actually keep most of the purchase price.

Don't promote the music grift if you say you care about local music, people!!

I have three new singles for a $1 a piece. If you bought all three, I think I'd receive $2.81, or something like that from . Better then streaming my song for free on Spotify. I'm not even sure they pay BMI or ASCAP. Perhaps someone out there can tell me since I do register my music with BMI.

Emil Amos' Drifter's Sympathy – *THE CASE FOR POLVO* – 1:03:57 16/11/2023

Found a new podcast, "Drifter's Sympathy." This episode was on Polvo, perhaps one of the most unique bands of the many from Chapel Hill during the halcyon days of mid-90s .

Emil Amos' Drifter's Sympathy – *THE CASE FOR POLVO* – 1:03:57 EPISODE 30 ✨🔦✨ In this episode Emil travels back down to Chapel Hill to try and re-assess the landscape that gave birth to his musical outlook in the early nineties. He uses the flashpoint of Chapel Hill's underground music explosion to argue that its the people living in a town that truly de...

The Music Shift (I Don’t Sing Like Taylor Swift) 13/11/2023

I’ve been thinking about writing and music—how both are really avocational for me, rather than vocational. Yet, like with writing, music was slow out of the gate and then, built momentum. It only took about 10 to 12 years. I guess I’m half-way there with my music, working at finding an audience, growing my portfolio of songs, etc. Another one to be released this week. Happy I’m also submitting to the monthly RPM Challenge where you can post a song each month. And no, I don't sing like Taylor Swift.

The Music Shift (I Don’t Sing Like Taylor Swift) The song “Music Shift” is about music approached as an avocation, if not a vocation. The idea of working a “shift” in terms of labor dates back to 1809 and mining. Playing guitar may not be mining …

Neil Young Reportedly Played 'Ragged Glory' at Private Concert for Canada Goose CEO 11/11/2023

I guess ole' Neil's taken to playing for billionaires these days. At his age, it's way easier than grinding it out in a tour bus, criss-crossing continents. Re-listening to "Ragged Glory," another Young classic.

After finally unpacking my music gear and getting my Gibson Nighthawk out of the case last weekend, I had a few days to practice and decided to play an open mic for the first time in over a year and a half. Great way to shake off some performance rust. Also made my first appearance at Rivermont BierHaus at their Wednesday night hootenanny of sorts. Had a blast and my better half, Mary Tarazewich Baumer was their to snap a few photos.

I'll be moving my music to Lynchburg, VA in two weeks. I just played my final gig yesterday in the Northeast. This has been in the works for awhile. I'll miss some of the people and venues that treated me so well the past few years. I'll also be making plans to come back in the fall, hopefully to play a couple of fair dates and other places along the way. Stay tuned for more musical adventures.

There is this thing called the RPM Challenge, where you record original music in February. Well, I've got a head start on this, as I've been laying down tracks here in January.

I had a functional FB page for JimBaumerMe. It's a long story, but FB basically locked me out of my account because of suspicious activity and would not allow me access to the old account. That's fine. This page is up and I'll use it for music. No personal page anymore for the guy behind the indie rocker known as JimBaumerMe, or for this new page, JimBaumer-ME
