Awesome to see with a new Executive Director at the OAC that some of the top amateur fighters in the state who have paid their dues are getting the opportunity to turn pro.
We’ll see 4 big pro debuts of some fighters who have potential to go very far in this sport next month at Ohio Combat League 24.
First up, Jaden Mattox will make his pro debut in a lightweight bout against Indiana’s Nick Mondelli (0-1). Mattox is a 2x state champion wrestler and had a very impressive 4-1 run as an amateur including a complete performance to claim the OCL lightweight title against the previous unbeaten Kobe Woodall last month.
In a matchup pitting two debuting fighters, Skyler Bray will face Gabe Piria. Bray was 7-5 as an amateur including winning the OCL flyweight title. He faced some of the top 125 and 135 fighters from Ohio and beyond, and he’s already posted a 2-0 pro boxing record.
Piria was 5-2 as an amateur and resided in Ohio before moving to Florida last year. He claimed the OCL bantamweight title last March in a memorable bout against Asher Frederick and also won a title in Florida. He made his pro boxing debut in December and now moves into the pro MMA ranks.
And finally, heavyweight Matt Adams makes his pro debut after a 3-2 amateur run that included winning the OCL title. Another state champion wrestler, he’s also 3-0 as a pro boxer. He’ll face Cameron Kinzig (1-0), who went 6-1 as an amateur and also won multiple titles as an amateur.
