Took Judah home on Labor Day (ironic) in a Naked Bible Podcast shirt. Had a great discussion in the elevator about the podcast.

I am enjoying Carmen Imes’ new book, “Being God’s Image”! Understanding humanity’s identity and purpose at creation impacts my view of living out purpose in daily life, the value of each human, and much more. The book comes out this Tuesday, and I cannot recommend enough.

Our beloved brother, scholar and friend, Dr. Michael S. Heiser has stepped into the Unseen Realm - 02/20/23 @ 3:45pm EST

Dr. Heiser was an answer to my prayers before I knew he existed. I so appreciate his commitment to God's Word and God's Kingdom. May he and his family be blessed during this time of sorrow. My heart is broken, but I know that this is not the end.

Sometimes things are hidden in plain sight. We may even know they are hidden, but we do not know where to look. That is how I felt in the year of 2018. As my Bible study group was reading through the Bible chronologically, I felt that there were pieces missing from my understanding of topics like idolatry, giants, and the prophetic books. Ecclesiastes 1:9 states “What exists now is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done; there is nothing truly new on earth.”, but yet, I couldn’t understand why someone would worship a lifeless token, why I (a Gentile) should care about Israel’s rebellion or any number of other passages that I could not explain from my 2000 A.D view of this ancient book. I remember being at the end of my resources and praying for God to show me the missing piece.

It was not until my wife, Christi and I took a trip to Africa that I discovered the path to the answers. No, I did not have a revelation, I simply felt more than the culture change when I came back into the U.S. There was a sense of a change that I experienced in spiritual warfare tactics the moment we landed back in the U.S. In Africa, there seemed to be a spirit of fear everywhere, but in the U.S., there seemed to be a spirit of self-pleasure. Upon mentioning this to my pastor, Douglas A. White, he recommended looking into the work of Dr. Michael Heiser. After watching Dr. Heiser’s first two
videos on the Naked Bible Podcast ‘Start Here’ page, I was hooked. The Bible was opened up to me in a totally new way. The overarching story was the same, but I had missed the scope. This was not just about a girl eating a piece of fruit from a tree after being tempted by a snake. Real spiritual warfare had been present from Genesis 3 through Revelation 20. Every biblical author seemed aware of this, but somehow while reading the entire Bible multiple times, I had glossed over these details.

I've never had the chance to talk to Dr. Heiser, so I'm looking forward to talking with him on the new Earth. Who knows, maybe he'll have a podcast there as well.
