A Mile A Day Challenge

A Mile A Day Challenge

You can walk, jog, run, bike, or row but the challenge is at least one mile per day. Move your body! Choose to do something hard, choose yourself in 2023!

Please post pics and report about your journey on this challenge. This page shall serve as a community for support, encouragement, and celebrating success. Invite friends and family to meet up to complete the mile together. Having fitness partners can increase your chances of reaching your goal by creating a feeling of obligation to others. If a mile a day seems like a difficult task, then that's more of a reason to challenge yourself.

How has it been going? Are you getting those miles in?

12/01/2024

Well here's a real challenge for some of you milers...snow storm! Extra points if you post a pic of your mile today. (There are no real points but you know what I mean.)

New Year, new you! Get started today with the mile a day challenge for 2024.
You can walk, jog, run, bike, row, or swim but you have to log one mile. Preferably you perform your mile outdoors but if a stationary machine must be used, so be it!

For those who joined last year, keep going! If you completed the challenge add new goals. If you did not complete a mile a day in 2023, today is day one of 2024! Reset and go!!!!

The best part for me personally, was looking forward to some alone time each day 😂. But it's nice to include family and friends when completing your mile. If you can partner up, you might improve your chance of completion by holding each other accountable to show up.
Good luck and Happy 2024!

Congrats to those that made it a whole year!! Maybe raise the bar in 2024. Add a few days of planks, squats or push-ups. If you can make time for a mile every day, imagine what else you can do if you just make it a routine?

How many adults can do a full body weight push-up? I'm not sure if there is an accurate stat on that but I am willing to bet that the percentage is low. Maintaining strength is the most important component of easing the aging process, in my opinion.

Take time to think of additional goals for the new year and post them to encourage each other. Good luck!!

The year has gone by quickly...are you still getting those miles in? I'm not gonna lie, I missed a day back in April and I was so mad when I woke up realizing I missed doing it the night before, that I literally cried. Then it was easy to miss after missing once because I felt like I screwed up my whole years goal. Comment below and tell us how you are doing? What should we include for a new challenge for 2024?

How's it going mile people? I haven't missed a day. I actually look forward to completing it daily. And spring is right around the corner! Get out and grab some sunshine.

Way to go Scott Gregory for making gains! Set a goal and smash it.

I'm still out everyday...the cold is creating a lot of hate but I still make myself do it! There may also be some cursing involved. Whatever it takes!!

Headed out now to get some sunshine....let's go!!

Day 18 and still going strong. Recently, I rowed a mile in 7:47, not too shabby! Walking my son to the library today. Getting those miles however I can. How are you all doing?

04/01/2023

I have updated the dates for 2023. Its day 4, let's do this!

02/01/2023

Did you make it a mile a day this past year? I missed three days...ugh! But guess what, it's a new year and I got my mile done Day 1. If the mile a day isn't your jam, I encourage you to find a new challenge. Pick something that is hard, make it a real challenge and enjoy the journey. May your cup be half full, cheers to 2023!

It's so cold here!!! Did my mile on the rower last night. Took me 8 mins to row 1600m. Get it done however you can!

06/12/2022

We are getting to the home stretch...are you putting in the miles?

22/11/2022

Hi all...getting to the end of this year. If you have gotten away from doing your mile, now is the time to start again. You have over a month to make it a habit which will increase your chances of completing the mile a day challenge for 2023.

Did you know that getting sunshine on your eyeballs has massive health benefits? Literally...get outside and let the light in.

The sights along my mile this past week...only a couple months left in 2022. Get out there and enjoy the view.

Anyone besides Tonya and I, getting those miles in? Last night I walked through town at 11:30pm, it was cold and wet but got it done!

If you've gone off the rails, now is the time to jump back on track. If you start making it a habit now, 2023 mile a day challenge will be easy. Let's do it!

04/08/2022

Wow...how is it August?!! Is anyone still participating? My mile count is stacking up! Today I ran. My hubby has been biking, I might have to join him. Don't give up, only a few months left in 2022.

18/05/2022

Well, it happened. I missed a day. This past Sunday, I did about a million things, but I forgot my mile. When I woke on Monday morning and realized I hadn't completed it the day before, I literally had tears in my eyes. I felt such disappointment that I had made it so far in the year. I did my miles while traveling. I did my miles even after doing full workouts, after days of errands, days of work and kids' schooling and homeschool events. I did my mile at 11:45 at night and I did it at 6am. I used a rower, I ran, and I walked. All those miles and in one day, it was ruined. I felt anger for missing, sadness for breaking my goal. BUT....I ran another mile that day.

If you have dropped off, start again. The mile is more than exercise. It may be a great challenge to some physically or not so hard for others. But what that mile can be, is so much more. It is quiet time, time for fresh air, time away from electronics, and time to embrace your surroundings. It can boost endorphins, improve circulation and joint mobility. It may bring mental clarity, stress relief, and improve your mood. Sometimes it's nice to be alone, sometimes it can be a great family event or bonding time with your partner.

Share the Mile a day Challenge with others and keep going!!!

Beautiful morning for a mile here in Indiana. This is the view from my front porch. The sun is shining, the sky is blue, and the grass is coming in....yay, Spring!! Where are you? Are you still getting in your miles?

Wow, another month went by so fast, I didn't have a chance to add a new challenge. But it's Friday! Did anyone try doing their miles at a faster rate? Who is still going strong? I have walked in a blizzard and under an umbrella during heavy rain, but I haven't missed a single day!!

Another week gone by...racking up the miles! Gonna add an additional challenge, this week try to pick up the pace. Give yourself a time to beat. For example, if you consistently walk your mile in 24 mins, make a commitment to try to shave off a minute this week. Let's do this!

Extra points tomorrow if you post a pic of you completing your mile in the snow!!

16/01/2022

Ok mile people, it's the end of week two. Drop your favorite emoji if you haven't missed a day.

10/01/2022

Well, one full week of 2022 in the books! Who kept their commitment to complete at least a mile a day?!!! Remember, you can walk, jog, run, bike, swim or row.

05/01/2022

Had an extra challenge today of fighting the wind on my mile walk but it made for a great workout!

I found a new calendar for the year. I like this one because you can log each day either by just coloring it in or writing whatever info you'd like to document. The weekends are colored which I couldn't change but when printed it looks nice and bright. Make sure you scale it to fit the page before printing.
