The importance of an ordinance that protects the health, safety and welfare of the citizens.

Thank you Cary Shineldecker for sharing these thoughts with the Douglass Township citizens....

People... Please Listen to My Words-

I LIVED UNDER 476' WIND TURBINES LITERALLY!

They towered over our home in all directions and as close as 1100', with 5 within 3000'!

Severe Headaches, Ocular Migraines and Sleep Deprivation became my daily world.

We self-medicated with sleep aids and left our bedroom to sleep in the basement for 2 years until abandoning our home.

We sold our home for a devasting loss, but we had to leave. Simply put my wife and I could not remain living in our home of 18 years.

DO NOT ACCEPT AN IRRESPONSIBLE WIND TURBINE ORDINANCE. YOU MUST PROTECT YOUR FAMILY AND YOUR HOME.

I urge you! You have but 1 Chance to save your community. This is it. NEVER STOP FIGHTING FOR A SAFE ORDINANCE!

GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR COMMUNITY!

Best Regards-

Cary Shineldecker

10 days!!! A vote for these four people equals a vote for the protection of Douglass Township's people, property, and environment. Conscientious, upstanding, and trustworthy are but a few of the words used to describe Cindy Shick, Ken Bunting, Eric Tester, and Holly Huff.

What qualifications do I have that would effectively serve and benefit Douglass Township if elected as Trustee?

I have twenty-five years of experience in the construction field. I understand, interpret, and remain current on building codes and township zoning ordinances. In 2006-08 I worked for 8-Cap as a weatherization inspector. During this time, I inspected homes of low-income families in Montcalm, Ionia, Gratiot, and Isabella counties. I gained firsthand knowledge of our county and township. I feel this experience will help me keep an open mind to each person’s situation and navigate between empathy for the citizen and upholding ordinances that are in place to keep the community safe and prosperous. I know that there will be issues in the township that will need significant research and attention. I have always been willing to study and learn new things, such as becoming a licensed builder, a weatherization inspector, and recently finishing my Master’s Degree in Education.

Douglass Township, please vote for me Nov 8th. To vote for me, please "split your ticket" (vote individually for each candidate all the way down the ballot) as I had to run as a "no party affiliation" candidate due to recall election laws.

Please "like" and "follow" Ken Bunting for Trustee for updates.

A little about me...

I grew up in the Birch Run area but happily moved to Douglass Township 17 years ago when I married my wife, Brandy (Baldwin), a lifelong township resident. We live in the family homestead in which Brandy’s grandparents and great grandparents lived. We are now raising our children as the 5th generation to live there. We love the beauty of Douglass Township and do not want to see this beauty spoiled by industrial scale wind turbines.

This community offers many opportunities and I am honored to volunteer as an assistant coach for Central Montcalm wrestling, as well as coach my daughters’ T-ball and softball teams. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies from Olivet College and a Master’s degree in Career and Technical Education from Ferris State University. Currently, I am the Construction Trades instructor at the Montcalm Area Career Center. A perk of this job is to provide opportunities for students to get involved in community service projects. Recently, I became president-elect of the Construction Teachers Association of Michigan. I have been an assistant manager at 84 Lumber Company, was the weatherization inspector for the community action program of EightCap, Inc., and have owned a small construction company for many years. My education, combined with more than 20 years of experience in the construction industry, will guide me as a Douglass Township Trustee.

I have an understanding of how the government is supposed to function, as well as how ordinances are adopted, enforced, and maintained. My vision for the Douglass Township board is one which openly listens to and values the citizens. I envision board members working to maintain the rural character and serenity that this community has offered for generations. I see Douglass Township as a rural community where people want to live, raise families, and enjoy retirement free from overbearing industrialization. Board members should not use their positions to manipulate ordinances or make decisions either for their own monetary benefit or for the benefit of a very small group of property owners. As a Trustee, I will make transparency and communication a priority. I will keep the community informed about board decisions and upcoming agenda items, as well as propose a bi-annual township newsletter that is delivered with the winter and summer tax bill. As a township Trustee, you can count on me to be open and honest with the public. You can be assured that I will act in the manner appropriate for an elected official and represent the people of Douglass Township. You can trust that I will support and vote for decisions that keep Douglass Township rural, beautiful, and safe.

Please place your trust in me on Nov. 8. I am running as a "Non Party Affiliation" candidate, due to recall election laws. Because of this, to vote for me, you need to vote for each selection all the way down the ballot (split your ticket).

The Douglass Township Energy Coalition, comprised entirely of Douglass Township Residents, proudly endorses these candidates to protect Douglass Township as well as bring honesty, integrity and transparency to the roles. On Nov 8 please vote for these citizens. Remember to vote for Cindy, Holly, and Ken you need to vote for every individual race down the ballot (split your ticket) due to running as "No Party Affiliation" candidates.

36 days until the election!

Cindy Shick (Supervisor)
Holly Huff (Clerk)
Ken Bunting (Trustee)
Eric Tester (Trustee) (There are 2 Trustee positions)

Cindy, Holly and Ken are running as "No Party Affiliation" candidates in this Special Recall Election so please know to vote for them, you need to vote individually for each race all the way down the ballot (no straight ticket voting).

16/09/2022
09/09/2022

In this election, please SPLIT YOUR TICKET. This means that you can vote for candidates in any race, regardless of party affiliation. For example, you can vote for a Republican in a senate race, a Democrat in a congressional race, and an Independent in a local race. The Douglass Township elected officials who are facing recalls are running as Republicans. Therefore, Cindy Shick, Ken Bunting, and Holly Huff are challenging them as Independent (Nonpartisan) candidates. To elect Cindy, Ken, and Holly, you will need to vote for each of these candidates individually as Independents on your ballot. Eric Tester is running as a Republican so please vote for him as the Republican candidate.
