Always show up as YOU.
You are not a position or a role; youāre not defined by what title you hold at a company. You have unique characteristics and quirks, a heart like no other, passions and paths that youāve journeyed that make you who you are. If youāve ever made yourself small or invisible to āfitā in Iām calling you OUT- letās commit to being our authentic selves in all boardrooms, chat rooms and intentionally make room as we take up our purposed space!
Be the model, set the tone and watch the room adapt to your energy/ bring it like you know only you can.
I hesitated posting this pic...My pants were tied tightly and it made a chub flub.
But like my pose, I threw that sh to the wind and embraced EVERYTHING else that is happening here! I had a majestic morning with my dear friend and we basked in the beauty around us unabashedly. These legs climbed the rocks, these arms hugged my friend, and this heart took in a much needed moment of reflection and release. Soulcare, selfcare, and sisterfriend time. Felt amazing... fed my spirit.
Please get it in, get what you need; sometimes you donāt know you need it until you go do it.šš½

What good did you for you today?
Itās FriYAY! And apparently national avocado dayš„š„ā¦ Man, listenā¦ weāll talk about avocados in a minute, but can we talk about pressure?
Yesterday the hubs said, āIāve been seeing a national or international āsomethingā day so frequently, is there something to recognize or celebrate for every day?ā To that I answered, āAbsolutely yesā. I have actually seen a calendar(swipe left, find your ) that has a cause or highlight for every day of the year.
And itās true Iāve been noticing a frequency of what ādayā it is and what we should be focusing on.
Friends, your focus is yerrrr focus.
I have sisterfriends that are advocates of very worthy causes and they do not put any pressure on me to support them yet my support is from my heart and my own desire to do so. I have other friends who may be celebrating National Waffle Day, who get up early and make a scrumptious and beautiful spread a la Martha Stewart. Though I canāt come to breakfast, I cheer them on and sometimes get inspired to brunch! And maybe for you, getting out of bed is an accomplishment- celebrate yoā selfšš½šš½šš½šš½ DO NOT feel pressured to post, pump up or plan your life around what you see on your timeline.
I want you to know your life and your will to get up and take care of whatās important to YOU is noteworthy and celebratory!
And if today you are led to support an important cause and then go eat some avocados- Do it. Heartily. NO PRESSUREššš½
Deep in thought: Do I serve a something healthy or cheesecake for dinner?
Healthy winsšš½ Quick and uncomplicated:
BBQ cut salmon from
Salt, pepper, garlic, thyme, lemon, cumin(I put this and tumeric on many dishes)
Butter or oil (I like vegan country crock)
375 degrees, 20 ish mins
Served with haricot vert! I sautƩ with olive oil or butter, all the seasoning& lemon I use for the salmon, add minced garlic instead of garlic powder
Bon appetit šš½
for dessert? š°š¬
Live healthy and enjoy.
Hello Youāµļø
Today is Take it Back Tuesday!
While I wish I was back at the lake, I am back in my work from home office and thinking about how nice it would be if me and this laptop were sitting with my feet in the water.
some parts of our lives have been decided for us; and if you look at our current chain of events, a lot more is out of our control than we can even handle or would have imagined. But today Iām declaring Take it Back Tuesday!
Reclaim your control, reclaim your joy and reclaim your dreams! If you simply want to get through the day without yelling at somebody or throwing something, then reclaim your power to stay calm and stay peaceful.
(Small steps totally countšš½)Maybe the morning didnāt start off so great, but you still have time to reclaim the rest of the day. Take back your afternoon and take back your evening- you will manifest wherever you mentally and physically spend time and energy. Take back the control of your emotions and hold on tight. Take back the motivation you had to start the business or to pursue the degree. Take it back to when no one could stop you and your whole life was before you- build that fierce soul back up and take back/go get whatās yours!š„
Black and White and Alright! Challengeā You know I love a fab pair of sunniesš Keep shining, Friends! Youāre up
Do you journal? For me itās been a way of expressing myself ever since I could pick up a pencil- seriously, I have journals from elementary school. I love looking back at my thoughts and memories, poetry inspired by life at that time, lists of things I want to do and places I want to go, and of course crushesš and friendships.
Making this a part of my morning has helped to set a tone for the day, expressing gratitude, chronicling my feelings and I also writing affirmations. I would say the most impactful experience has been going back to dreams/goals Iād written down and knowing they came true or happened... and reminding me of some that are still yet to come.
Even if itās a few lines, I encourage you to start writing today! Pour out some of whatās goinā on in your head and heart. Want to take it another step? - write out some self-declarations then say them out loud- Speak life and speak with confidence - EXPRESS YOā SELF! š£

Weāve driven passed these wonders countless times but never ventured off onto the desert road leading to the Seven Magic Mountains. It was the just the little delight our week needed.
A perfect contrast of nature and neon and artāØ This exhibit seemed to just pop up one day and though theyāre āmanmadeā they seemed to be placed just right and bright!
Are you finding little delights? Search them out, theyāre there!
Also, stop and take it all in. No more rushing passed the wonders around you.
Today, dig in to your magic! Listen to what makes your heart sing and do what makes your heart soar.
UNMASKED.
We took a week off the grid and, of course, this trip more than ever, we wished we could stay longer... like til 2021. Alas, grateful we had a home, jobs, and (full shower/toilets/unlimited air conditioning hallelujah!) to come home to ..and for THAT more than ever, Lord knows Iām so grateful.
Daily we are masked up, overloaded and lives rocked- donāt forget to breathe, unload and play in the waves when you can.š
Uncharted territory.
Depths and storms unknown.
Would you say your ability to hang on, push through, flex and change course have never been more on point?! Oh my, YES!! Keep thriving and striving, Loves!!
š¤Whatās rocking your boat?
š¶What are you doing to stay afloat?
āļøWhatās anchoring you?
Unmask and unveil how youāre feeling to really get to the core of how youāre doing. Itās freeing and forgiving, and your most beautiful self love is there! Go beneath the surface, I pray grace engulfs you and you take as many moments as you need to come up for air.
Need a light, easy to prep and delicious meal? Simply a veggie grillers patty topped with Mediterranean salad kit.
Add some kalamata olives and sunflower seeds for more yum.
Dinner done!š„
Beach babes.
They have always loved the waves! Listening to them, chasinā emā, watching them crest and fall. Iām raising some water lovers like just myself and when we get to the beach we simply canāt get enough and I simply canāt get enough of these smiles- pure joy!
When we say vacation, water has to be involved. Miles of sand and beauty. Shoes optional... š£š£
Whatās your familyās favorite place to get away?
If we have learned anything so far itās to control what we can, and do not stress the rest; Stay agile, flexible and roll with the punches, Champ! Change is inevitable and versatility is ALWAYS in style! While life may seem to be switching it up a bit I decided to switch up my styles (I do periodically) but I havenāt had braids since my 20ās!! I grew to love my natural hair after the birth of my first son, then went back and forth with extensions and flat ironing my unruly, untamed, and sometimes mistreated tresses- my lionās mane, as I lovingly call it, has been through it all. Earlier this year I had a whole different idea for my summer look; shoot I had a whole other idea for my year!
Iāve always admired this style on other people and now Iāve decided to go for it.
Summer isnāt cancelled; making progress isnāt stopping- your response is key and gratitude must be your attitude! My new style says, āembrace the beauty in change, Hello Summer and SASS! ..yep, mood.
New look coming soon! Iāve been in this WFH office for # # weeks and Iām about to break out! And Iām breaking out of my pulled back bun, too! Or the occasional attempt at a flight iron (shown here) my body, mind, and HAIR needs a rest! Iāve seen beautiful curls, haircuts, ponytails for days and if youāve got a mane like mine, totally au-natural fro days!
Whatās been your work from home, stay at home, live at home style?
Date night is... well, different. Donāt forget to date your mate! Even though youāre together 24/7š that doesnāt count! Get a moment to hug and kiss and toast a glass to being healthy and together! Sending love and wishing strength, prosperity and commitment as you handle these turbulent times, together. Itās work but itās worth it.
Worried about tomorrow? This moment does not define you, you define the moment. Think back to the times youāve had to push through in the midst of uncertainties; how did you make it through? Your mental strength has to out-muscle your physical circumstances. Free yourself of trying to figure it all out. Faith over fearfulness. Spirit over speculation. Hope over happenstance! No crystal balls over here, only determination, audacious hope, and POMS POMS!
Like most of my early learning-how to ride a bike, tie my shoe, and most of my childhood experiences, my first memories of Juneteenth are my momās Juneteenth t-shirt commemorating African Americans being freed of slavery in her hometown, Galveston, TX, and June family reunions. We couldnāt always afford to fly to the annual get togethers but we always gathered locally with family and friends for BBQās and backyard fun. At that time I did not realize the significance, I just knew it was a tradition to have a family reunion in June. Why didnāt I know about Juneteenth from history class? Why wasnāt it a significant moment in our countryās celebrations? Like many black American traditions, it was just, āoursā... this year as our country is again being forced to face the racial inequalities and systematic injustices engrained in our American culture, many corporations have added this day as a corporate holiday signifying solidarity, appreciate our contributions and uplift our plight. While we see swift policy changes and support from many, my hope is beyond today we make it our mission to push for recognizing our faults in order to grow and continue to build an America where we can all be celebrated. My mom and I ride on as we carry on the dreams of my grandmother and great- grandmothers and motherās before them and beyond- to be hard working, family-strengthening, property owning, business building, women of grace, grit, pride and faith. My mom had these traits instilled into her from a mother who was faced with daily uncertainties whether her children could live truly free and flourish- but she always believed she could, we could...And we continue to. Juneteenth is significant to US ALL... itās ours and yours to celebrate, appreciate and teach the next generation to keep these wheels of change turning! š“š½āāļø Letās ride on! š“š½āāļø

Heavy few days, Friends.
Many of us are doing what we can, speaking out, stepping up, standing strong and going through a range of emotions. BE LOUD. BE HEARD. BE UNDERSTOOD. BE PURPOSEFUL. BE GRATEFUL. BE BETTER. BE YOURSELF, BEAUTIFUL ONE. I invite you to lean in and learn and love, let down the defense and judgement and take a real, introspective look. We all fall short but we can change and be the change, but we have to be open and whole in our hearts and minds.
Breathe today. Mental health is crucial to being effective, to being able to take care of your yourself and families and making positive decisions. You can be focused on your purpose and still take the time to deescalate and decompress. Embracing grace does not take away from your grit and duty.
Appreciate connecting with all of you here; letās continue to cheer on and champion each other- we all can do something to be better and do better. It starts with us.
Itās Monday. Itās June 1. Itās midway through what has already been a year of heartbreak and tragedy. Even the most optimistic of us canāt shake what we feel in this moment. Today you may find yourself processing, posting, praying, protesting or petitioning. I have had so many conversations with friends, with groups, with family and my children. We want to organize, we want to help, we want to run, we want to rage, we want to scream...we want change. I do not have words for what I feel nor can I imagine the anguish that the family of George Floyd (and many others, sucks that thereās many others) feel(s). What has happened is beyond tragic and at the same time I am suddenly being confronted and comforted by non-black friends as to how I am feeling and what I think as we all try to process what wāre seeing in reaction to injustice and unrest. The dialogue has been heated, healing and honest.
What I want everyone to ask themselves is this: āAt what point did I become uncomfortable with all of this?ā Was it when you first saw the images of a white police officer kneeling on the neck of a motionless black manās neck while his face is being pressed against the asphalt, or was it when Target was getting ransacked? Unfortunately, for some I did not receive an invitation for a conversation until the latter. And that my friends, is where the deep rooted pain, distress, rage and provocation comes from. I am glad you are wanting to talk and I appreciate your inquiry. We have recent instances of racial disparity and as you consider the images of this past week I am talking with my Mom who recalls the images of fire hoses, attack dogs, rifles pointed at their faces and baton whirling police officers beating protestors for even attempting to march for justice, and she remembers seeing burning crosses in front of homes, and churches throughout the south being set ablaze and bombed even while little girls her age sat inside innocently praying, and she canāt forget the historic images of entire black neighborhoods and businesses being pillaged and burned to the ground. She lived this and I invite you to watch the docs/see the pictures/read the books/articles... contād in comments

This pic is a throwback to three years ago as Iām setting up my youngest sonās first of three birthday gatherings! He was turning one, my oldest was turning five, we had a big Disneyland celebration planned with 30 friends and family members, oh and Thanksgiving travel- all great stuff but A LOT. To add to that I was in the throes of all night study sessions, just one exam/license away from a series of three that I needed to promote and move up in my new career. I was eager, nervous and trying to take it all in while still appearing to have it all under control. I had changed careers just a year prior and I wanted to succeed so bad at my new venture; I needed to get ahead and Iād put a lot of pressure on myself since making such a big step. It was around this time I had to tap into my mentors and my cheerleaders to be reminded of all that had gotten me here and what would propel me forward. Mindset. Re-Mindset. Get set, and Go!
Hereās what I did and continue to do:
I pray and pray some more - believe!
I put action to those hopes & dreams- move!
I believe I am exactly where Iām supposed to me - focus!
I try and help someone who is struggling with something Iāve conquered. - inspire!
Oh and music! Music the universal language of love, healing, inspiration and all things motivating- this classic rings true today: Make it Happen by Mariah Carey. Go blast it!
Do you need a reminder today of who the ____ you are? Here ya go! You didnāt come this far to come this far. Keep at it. Go grab a throwback pic to a time you accomplished something as a reminder that you CAN do great things and you WILL prevail in all that you want and work for.
Flexible! Backbend, pretzel, heel-stretch, yogi flex.
Yes, youāve got to stay committed to your plans, day to day, action after action, focus canāt fail. The adjustment comes in our approach. What worked even three months ago is not as effective; we are all learning best practices and processes within a marketplace that has been completely shaken up.
Need some ideas? Review your 7 Cās of Communication/Connecting(which can be used for any goal youāre going for) and I would add an 8th- make sure your approach is CURRENT; According to the seven Cs, communication needs to be: clear, concise, concrete, correct, coherent, complete and courteous.
Again, stay COMMITTED. Solid like a šand flexible like a š„Ø
Quarantining with my QueenššMotherās Day 2020 definitely looked different but still full of love! Like every Motherās Day, I wanted to do something awesome with my Mom however I knew that I wanted to make the day extra-special for her since sheād been quarantining at her home and not seeing us as much as usual. I decided to plan a special overnight Motherās Day which included a slumber party with her grandsons Saturday night complete with movies, popcorn and decorating -fun & YUM!(thanks for the vegan chocolate bar!) and a day of relaxation and festivity with me! Though the restaurants were starting to open, I had no desire to fight a crowd or be anywhere else than in the comfort of our home, surrounded by love and being spoiled by the men in our life. From our MOMosas to our matching outfits, we had special moments and made really fun memories, at home. Grateful for a day of flowers, food and family. šš„šš½

Today I read 1 in 7 American workers are unemployed. My heart sank. Again. With so much depressing news and devastation happening around us how do we stay motivated? I havenāt figured it all out but I continue to listen to mentors(podcast, webinars, home concerts, free trainings galore!), read information on how to thrive during good and bad times, and connect with positive friends and family who remind me that we are more than conquerors! My gratitude journal is filling up and my morning time in prayer and meditation has increased. Last week I had the pleasure of tuning into the weekly free webcast and it was so encouraging and informative.

Iāve been so proud of my little lions and their resilience through a massive change in their life- keeping them focused on what they can control has been our goal and theyāve responded well; Doing a lot virtually, and staying connected with friends and family! Zip a dee doo dah, Zip a dee yay!
Today I was thinking about Honor Choir and the array of songs we would learn and perform. Our Disney ones were probably my favorite and I still remember every single word of all of them. The lyrics to Zip a Dee Doo Dah speak of a wonderful day, sunshine, and everything being āsatisfactualā We can sing about whatever we feel and Iāve found that when I control the song thatās playing over and over in my head, my outlook is affected accordingly. We donāt get to choose every experience but we do get to choose what our heartās song is. I choose to sing it until I see it. āPlenty of sunshine coming my way, Zip a dee doo dah, zip a dee yay!ā
Itās coming, I know it is. āļø
You made it another day. I love this photo from one of my favorite places one of my happiest days. I think about joyful times and the places I look forward to getting back to because I know I will embrace those moments and those places again. I am more hopeful than fearful, I am more content than chaotic. I feel like I have to be for my family and for the work that I do and the community that I serve. This may be an unprecedented time but it is also a time where we can press in and find strength and stability. Itās OK if you need to stare at a picture or draw a picture, read a book or start writing a book, get outside and feel the sun or simply be the light in someone elseās life. There is something we can all do, and the more that we tap into that which we can do, we will not be focused on all that we cannot do at this time. Press on friends!!
Found this, doing this. Our minds are absorbing so much these days, maybe more than usual. If you donāt have access to your go-to outlets consider a mind-break and do, say, be, NOTHING. For just ten minutes. If youāre watching the news or reading updates online, your brain is filled with a ton of information and perhaps chaos and confusion- itās good to be informed but take a break for clarity. It may be the moment of calm you need to face the rest of your day. āš½šš½ I pray, I play, I get some sun. What are you doing when you need a break? a breath?
Youāre gonna make it.
Thatās all.
When they tried to āsurpriseā you on the conference call and have everyone turn on their camerasš±š Need a fresh flat iron and a spruce up but BABY threw on some rouge (as my mom calls itš„°) and opened those blinds, and SHOWED UP. What! Thatās exactly what we have to keep doing! This pause in our normal lives was definitely a surprise but what we wonāt do is be kept down, put down, or stay down! We will rise to the occasion and continue on in the face of fear, difficulty and the unknown. Flip it for your good. Family time, think time, de clutter time, just breathe and be time. Showing up with you, through this and after this. šš½ššŖš½šš½
