It’s been a fun and eventful few days and the boys and I’ve been all over. First over to central Oregon to visit mom aka Grammy in Sunriver and had a wonderful feast a day early on Wednesday. You can see mom a stuffing that turkey. We had a very fun and relaxing and time there. Then on Thanksgiving morning the boys and I drove out to the beach to visit my boys’ mom, Amy. I stayed for a night, it was beautiful at the beach and great time of games, football, playing my in the beach and yes, delicious food. I stayed a night out there a night and came back today to play a show at Gilgamesh in Salem tonight at 6pm. They’re all still doing all that beach stuff I suppose. I’m thankful beyond words for these sons. For the mom and dad I’ve been so lucky to have. For my life and all the different twists and turns it’s taken and continues the take, I’m thankful for it. Thanksgiving has pretty much always been my favorite holiday. A day when we focus on being thankful is a recipe for having a pretty good day. In my opinion, it may be the most important thing to remember when starting any day. I realize the irony in the fact that I’m posting this a day late and today is Black Friday and that may have a different vibe... 😂 but oh well. I wish y’all a happy late Thanksgiving anyway!

The band and I will be playing tonight from 6-8pm out at Gilgamesh Brewing The River in Independence! Just to clarify, this isn’t a picture of the band. No, I’ll be playing with Jeff and Brian as usual. I’m not quite on the level of Gonzo and his choir of chickens just yet… These are some wild turkeys that Sheldon and I saw traveling through our hillside yesterday. Photo by Sheldon. I finally picked up another box on cds from Atomic Disc the other day. In honor of veterans and as a small thank you for their service and sacrifice, I’d like to offer a free cd to any veterans in the crowd tonight. The show is all-ages, no cover and they have really tasty beer and pizza and other food (though I always get pizza cause it’s super good.) we’re looking forward to hanging out with you all tonight!

I can barely believe that my oldest son Noah turned 18 today. When he was born, that little, tiny baby taught me a whole new type of love. Now that I’ve watched him grow from that sweet, little, creative, curious boy to this responsible, driven, strong, wise and compassionate man that I see before me now, I couldn’t be prouder. You have strong character and you are a natural leader. I’m lucky to be your dad and still love you with that same love, except maybe even stronger now somehow. I am excited to see what the future holds for you in the coming years. Yeah, I’m case y’all didn’t catch it I’m feeling a little sentimental today looking back at those pictures and all those years… 🥹We sure had a great time hanging out (literally) at the Rock Box in Salem today!

Well folks, sorry I have to cancel tonight’s gig scheduled at in Salem. It’s homecoming in Silverton and I’ve got three of my boys walking in the parade and a game to watch and I just can’t miss all that. I’ll be back at Taproot November 1st. I am playing tomorrow night at The River in Independence with the band from 6-8pm if you can join us there!

I’ve got a few shows this weekend around Silverton! It looks to be a beautiful evening tonight and I’ll be playing with the band on the patio at The Gallon House from 7-10pm. Then tomorrow is the annual Silverton Sidewalk Shindig and there will be musicians around town performing in dozens of spots. I’m going to be playing solo out in the sidewalk in front of from 5-6pm. It’s always great to see a few friends out there if ya wanna stroll by! Disclaimer, Sheldon won’t actually be playing tonight, but he will be cruising around with me and carrying my guitar sometimes hopefully!😉 Didn’t want to get your hopes up. Hope to see you out there somewhere!

This Friday, I’m excited to be playing a solo show at Gilgamesh Brewing The Campus. Also I’m happy to say I’ll be coming back here the 4th Friday of each month too! This summer started off pretty great with a couple of camping/boating trips to Detroit Lake and Lake Billy Chinook. Something so nice about those lazy lake days with no schedule…

I’ll be playing with the band tonight at Mac’s Place in Silverton from 9pm to midnight. Well, my recovery from the car wreck has been a little slower than I thought. I guess I tried to push my body a bit too hard too fast like I was trying to walk off a leg cramp or something... Anyway, I was diagnosed with some sciatica after I went in a few days ago with some intense pain in my hip and back and numbness in my leg. I am healing it seems, just slowly. Been trying to take it easy the last few days the best I can, but sometimes it’s hard to slow down, but then that’s probably something I’m supposed to learn from this… So not sure if I’ll be standing, sitting, or lying on the floor by midnight, but I figure by midnight, I might not be the only one… And we’ll keep on a rocking no matter what. It’s been an eventful couple of days… It’s hard to believe that just two days ago on Wednesday morning, I was on my way to work in Salem teaching Spanish as I’ve been doing the last few months. “It was a beautiful day, the sun beat down, had the radio on, I was driving…”. All of a sudden a car in the oncoming lane turned left in front of me… she didn’t see me with the morning sun in her eyes. It was less than a second until the impact and I barely had time to hit the brakes, swerve, and yell “f**k”. It was a very long half a second as I knew we were going to hit. And we hit hard. Amazingly both myself and the other driver were able to walk away. She is a mom to three and I’m a dad to four and we were just thankful to be alive and mostly unhurt. There are so many ways it could have gone worse especially with that telephone pole there and all… I’ve been super sore with some seatbelt bruises and a sore back, but I still feel so thankful to not have woken up in a hospital or dead. Thank you God for protecting me and the other driver in this crash. The last couple days I’ve been “icing” my sore body in the creek and I feel like its healing powers have done me a lot of good. I’m definitely still moving a bit slow, but I’m back to work today in a car I borrowed from my brother and then I’m thankful that I’m even feeling good enough to play the three shows I have planned this weekend. I’ll be at Taproot Lounge & Cafe this afternoon at 5pm and tomorrow night at Guerra's Restaurant from 6-9pm. Then a house concert in Salem on Sunday. Happy Friday everyone. I don’t know about you, but personally I feel very thankful to be alive today.

A beautiful afternoon in Minto Brown Park. I’m thankful that we have this little paradise to hike, skate, and swim in right on the edge of Salem. I’ll be playing open mic later tonight at in Silverton with Chris Lute and other songwriter and musician friends. 7-10pm. Feel free to join us if you want to listen to some local musicians or play a few songs yourself, or read some poems, tell some jokes, etc…

Be Grateful, Stay Humble, Have Fun and Love People - I just released a new song to start off your week with. Life can be overwhelming, with endless things to do and places to go. Sometimes it seems I just don’t have enough time or energy to do everything that needs doing. Then, when I get caught in that desperate mindset, I start to lose the joy, peace and fun in life. I’ve been learning that the most important thing for me to do in the morning is to make sure that I’m operating out of thankfulness and am going into my day looking for opportunities to show love and kindness to others. If I start with that, everything else in my day will almost certainly go better. Of course, I forget. That’s why I wrote this song, so I’d remember... I hope it might serve as a reminder to others also to slow down a little and appreciate what’s around us.
