God gifted me to be an artist. It's time to get serious and become the artist He's always wanted me to be. Now a member of the Berrien County Artist Guild.
This one is also from 2002 though I wasn't as happy with it. It always looked a bit cartoon-ish to me. This was a first attempt at a portrait with color and was done with pastels.
In 2002 I took a portrait class at Lake Michigan College in the evenings. I drew a LOT of pictures that year, mostly line drawings and practice pictures. I have two that I sorted out from the 100 or so pictures. In the lower right of the picture you'll see a circled number. That's the number for the picture I drew.

I will be posting a lot of pictures of artwork I've done over the years. A kind of art through the decades sort of thing. When I look back at my artwork I noticed there were years I didn't do any. That has GOT TO change. I enjoy it so much and I hope you enjoy the progression. There will be a little less than 60 pictures. Let me know what you think. I'm trying to do them in order.
Tonight's doodle. This is white charcoal on black background so you have to draw the negative spaces.
Just finished. I'm very pleased with this one. Ill take a better picture in a couple of days.
How exciting. My first time packaging my artwork to ship. Sending to my sister Kathy soon. I had made these for her a long time ago. Oops, sorry Sis. There is definitely a learning curve to this.
Finished this one tonight. This one is bigger, 18" x 24". Its more difficult to make a larger drawing. The scale is sometimes a little intimidating. This one I was working on shadows. I'm happy with the result.
I found my happy place for the night. Just finished a little while ago.
Last night I got out the charcoal pencils and relaxed doing this picture. I love doing landscapes that are calm and, to me, feel very relaxed. I could go in that boat right now and just float away. 😊 Well, at least until I got seasick LOL 🤣
Tried again. I like this one better. Took more time.
Finished this one today. This is from a picture I took on a walk. It looked so peaceful to me.
I was playing around with some ink wash this weekend. It's pickier to work with than it looks. Definitely need more practice with this.
They say practice makes perfect. You'll probably see this same picture done several different ways. I did watercolor and ink this weekend. I put the 1st one that was just ink with it for comparison. I like both but I'm liking the watercolor one better 😊
Just a post to get started. This is some of my work through the years.
