Curly Hair Journey by Lu
Helping you love your curls/waves + tips
♥️CURLY HAIR TRANSFORMATION ♥️
My best advice if you’re getting started:
❌ Stop straightening your hair for at least 6 months to actually see progress.
📸 Take lots of pictures, you’ll be amazed of how far you’ve come!
✂️ Trim your ends every 2-3 months to get rid of damage.
🧬 Bond builders were a huge game changer to get my curls back. The ones I used were Olaplex n3 & Curlsmith bond rehab salve treatment.
💪🏽 Protein treatments got my curls stronger than ever.
💗 Deep condition once a week, if you have very damaged hair.
So be kind to yourself, if you’re in the beginning, middle or end of your journey 🥰 you’re doing amazing 🤍

SIGNS MY HAIR NEEDS A HAIRCUT 👩🏻🦱♥️
Is the growth for me🫶🏽
Last year was a lot of experimenting with a new short hair for me at the very beginning and ending with a full balayage (color again yay!) I wanted to know how’s deal with it, knowing and understanding my hair now.
My goal this year is LENGTH so no more short hair for me for a while…so cheers to 2024, let’s see what it brings 💫

🫶🏽Things I’m doing to keep growing my hair
✅ drinking lots of water.
✅ lots of protein meals.
✅ hair oiling specially using the rosemary oils uffff.
✅ Washing my hair just twice a week.

I’m celebrating 2 years of my IG account [as a content creator too]and the time that I completely made the commitment to stop straightening my hair to actually see results 🥹
This transition was never easy to start, there were many days I wanted to give up and just keep it straight to “make my life easier” little did I know that I was starting not just a hair journey but a self love journey (mucho amor a mi misma)
I really hope you can find this as a sign to stop straightening your hair and embrace your natural waves, curls, coils. We are beautiful 🫶🏽🤍
Pic inspo [mi bestie obviamente]: 🌸
✨6 months of hair growth✨
Getting the big chop was probably one of the best decisions ever, my hair feels and looks way healthier & my curls are getting tighter too.
Here are two things I’m doing to make it grow faster:
💙Never skipping pre-pooing before washdays.
💙 Washing it just two times a week, which actually works great for me.
Very proud of my progress lately :)
✨June dump✨
1. Curls from my recent washday using hold me softly balm & volume foam.
2. Pilates progress feeling stronger every single day ✨
3. Went to bounce curl influencer event, lit one of my fav brands ever.
4. Went to Washington to visit fam.
5. Nails, flowers, scrunchie definitely giving feminine vibessss 🫶🏽🌸🎀🩷
6. Proud 🇵🇪
7. Bestie came over to visit for the weekend, watched all the good old movies [13 goin on 30, mean girls, startruck from Disney] hangout by the pool, chismear y conversar por horas y horas.
8. $10 flower bouquet to 5 different vases. 💐
9. Finally learned how to laminate my own brows and received bunch of compliments 👽👽👽👽👽
10. Milo staring at a banana 🤣
I mean do you see the difference?
✨DYI haircut pros:
✅ free.
Cons:
❌ uneven lengths.
❌ still heavy at the crown side.
❌ scared to do it cuz I didn’t want to mess up my own hair.
❌ I had to rewatch the same dyi tutorial over and over again.
✨curly haircut by a curly specialist✨
Pros:
✅ peace of mind you’re in hands of someone who knows.
✅ you get a personalized cut for your own hair type.
✅ you get to know what products work for you.
✅ layers and right U shape.
✅you learn more about your own journey and where you are.
Cons:
🦋 can be pricey ($$$) but it’s honestly an investment.
Save this post to save you time and go to the curly salon :)
You know why your styling routine are not lasting longer than two days? It can be for many reasons but if you clarify regularly, deep condition and are consistent with bonding treatment.
It means is 👏🏽time👏🏽 for👏🏽a👏🏽cut
Do you recognize any of these signs? When was the last time you got a haircut? Let me know in the comments below 👇🏽
✨May 2021 vs May 2023✨
Almost two years in my journey and so so happy how my texture is changing 🫶🏽
We don’t know what it took others to get the results that are getting!
Most of the time, took them years and lots of practice to get those perfect results 🤍
The reality is, a lot of the time you don’t know what’s going on or how someone got to where they’ve gotten.
You only know your own personal story.

✨Hair growth check ✨
It’s been 3 months since I had the “big chop” 👀 from very long to short shoulder length.
Here are things I’ve done to speed up the process and keep growing healthier stronger hair 💗
🌿 hair oiling 2x a week: 2 hours before washing it. I usually do this before I go to the gym or my skincare routine and then wait a few hours to wash it out. [I’ll be sharing my fav oils next week]
💆🏽♀️Washing my hair 2x a week and no more than that: idk if there’s science behind it but pretty sure this also helps since you don’t strip the natural oils so often and let it do it’s own thing!
🥗 🥩Having a healthy diet: Proteins, fruits and lots of water.
❌ No more bleaching or heat styling.
I hope these tips help ✨
