Non-academic Safeguarding Framework 21/02/2022

The Office of the Proctor is pleased to announce the launch of BRACU HELPLINE- +8809677-000999.

This initiative is part of the University’s effort to introduce a comprehensive Campus Safeguarding Framework. It is a high priority to ensure a safe, inclusive, and discrimination-free environment for all members of students, faculty members, and staff. Anyone within the BRACU Community may report any academic or non-academic concerns or complains through this channel.

In compliance with High Court Division's directive on addressing sexual harassment, ragging, and bullying in educational institutions, the university renews its commitment to preventing and building awareness on sexual harassment, bullying, and other forms of discrimination. To this end, SHEBREC - Sexual Harassment, Exploitation, Bullying & Ragging Elimination Committee will oversee this directive. Additionally, the Proctor’s Office remains committed to overseeing all other forms of Academic and Non-academic misconduct.

Please note the difference in procedures for sexual harassment, exploitation, ragging, and bullying (SHEBR) complaints, and all other forms of Non-academic complaints.

Additionally, the following email addresses will also receive queries and complaints:

For SHEBR (both student and staff) related issues, write to SHEBREC at [email protected]

For all other Non-academic (Non- SHEBR) student-related issues, write to the Office of the Proctor at [email protected]

For Non-academic (Non- SHEBR) staff-related issues, write to HR at [email protected]

For any Academic student and staff-related issues, write to [email protected]

For any kind of queries, write to the Office of the Proctor at [email protected]

For whistleblowing and anonymous complaints, write at [email protected]

Dear Students,

Welcome to the Spring term of 2022. You are aware that we have had to start this term online due to increasing Covid numbers and the government directives that seek to bring the rising infection rate under control. We hope, however, to welcome you in person to the Residential Campus by March 4th.

When Residential Semester (RS) takes place in person, we shall take many steps to maintain RS as the safest possible bubble for our students, faculty and support staff. We strongly recommend students who will be joining RS to be double vaccinated on or before 3rd March. We have arranged for two COVID PCR tests for all our students- one to be taken before you arrive in RS, and another one, a few weeks into your stay there. We have also arranged rapid tests for faculty and staff to ensure that everyone remains safe in RS. Along with the testing, we will have the doctor in full attendance, an isolation unit should any student fall ill, along with restricted mobility of other staff. Finally, we will also cancel Parents Day and all field visits in order to contain exposure with the outside world.

Given these changes that we have had to make to adjust to the covid situation, the University management has decided to reduce the RS fee for the Spring ’22 semester to BDT 35,000.

We hope that you remain excited to come to RS. RS is an integral part of your learning experience at Brac University and, therefore, it is important to resume as much normalcy as possible and get you back to this physical program at the earliest. Thank you for bearing with the various rulings and restrictions that we are all under due to the pandemic. Please stay safe, positive and hopeful. We look forward to welcoming our students to RS soon, all being well.
