Kelly Ls Inspirations
Original artwork by Kelly Leibold Furbies? Furbies.
Ever since the days when my elementary school-aged self drew dozens of rudimentary doggos on any surface she could find (something my first-grade teacher loves to recall), I’ve kept myself mentally and creatively active. As an adult I had the opportunity to volunteer alongside this teacher and mentor of mine, a humbling and inspiring experience that continues to shape my worldview. In my work—draw
By posting, the internet can hold me accountable, eh?
I'll be finishing these rainbow canvases with a TBD grayscale/ contrasting paint, and I'm starting to gather greenery to adorn plush denim dragons.
..bonus picture of our naughty cat aptly named Loki supervising fabric prep for the next batch of furbies. She must know there's only 33 days until Coulee Con...
The furbies have invaded Riverside Park!Amongst all the lovely vendors, you need something a little weird, and I'm okay being the weird one... with the rain clearing, we're in for a fun afternoon!
Nothing like last minute: the night before Artspire La Crosse I knew I'd need to pack, but when I dug out these inked sketches, they didn't look quite complete... hoping to play around with watered-down acrylics more, pleasantly surprised with the pastel vibes!
I've always admired collage art 🥺, so when I recently acquired some old magazines, I knew I needed to give it a try. I'd like to think I have an eye for composition and for color palettes--and I love an excuse to play around with buttons!
Not me, wandering around the house, searching for reference images or items... 👀🥾🐸
Looking forward to these zines making their debut at Artspire La Crosse, selections from my sketches bound with buttons from my late Grandma Ronda. Do you want to hear me, eh, pontificate? Be sure to pick one up!
Only 28 days until Artspire La Crosse... imagine how lovely these collaged magnets would look on your fridge, forever perplexing any guests... eagerly finishing other artworks for this event, can't wait to see everyone soon!
Furby production is in full swing! Which is why I'm not sharing a picture of my messy craft room...
Thank you to the Pump House Regional Arts Center for organizing Artspire, an annual, FREE, all-inclusive community event in the heart of La Crosse. I look forward to vending my furbies alongside other original art like paintings and collage.
These days "politics" can feel like a divisive and scary word. The County Board is a non-partisan race, and since I'm running for a seat, I wanted to take this opportunity to share some fun facts about myself and establish common ground. Behind every candidate is a person, a neighbor, a friend.
I've been drawing and painting since high school, but last year I took the leap to vend my art at the Farmers Market and Artspire downtown. I maintain an online storefront through Etsy where I sew and sell plushes, too.
I'm also a brain cancer survivor, diagnosed in late 2016 with treatment in 2017. Annual scans ensure I'm still in the clear. This experience reminds me to always treat myself and others with compassion. I'm grateful for the community of people that came together and for the support system that helped get me to where I am today.
I'm excited to meet more of my neighbors and when elected to the county board, building on and expanding county initiatives. I look forward to being a liason, connecting folks with resources and information. In the meantime, if you're wondering what I'm up to, I'm either drawing or on my sewing machine.

It finally happened: I missed a day of . But that's okay because yesterday's prompt of "rise" and today's prompt of "castle" are quite complimentary. Predictably, I had to go up to Grandad's Bluff, which overlooks Cass Street, to get the perfect picture. 📸
Genuinely couldn't think of anything I wanted to draw for the prompt "spicy" today. I love this family photo from a few years ago, and I figured we're a pretty spicy bunch. 🤷♀️ I might have fallen asleep on the couch before I added the finishing touches...
What a lovely prompt today, wander!
Tonight was the first night it genuinely crossed my mind to skip a day of , juggling work and meetings and projects at home... but because today's prompt was "fortune," I figured some kind of bad karma was coming my way if I stopped. 🤷♀️💰

Because La Crosse is my new home and I'm finally at the point where I don't need to GPS myself around anymore (at least in most parts of town), today's prompt of "map" was a natural fit.
