It’s official. I have keys to a new apartment!
Bubs & I are embarking on our next 6 month journey while we renovate & sell my grandfather’s home. This house has been in my family for 46 years; every member of my family of origin has lived here on more than one occasion; many of my extended family have lived here. My grandpa was one of the most giving & loving people I’ve known, always opening his heart & doors to anyone in need.
The past few months have been a whirlwind of decisions, uncertainty, second-guessing, & deep exploration within. I suspect the next few months will be more ofthe same. While I love this house & what it’s offered me & Bubs (as well as Meow Meow & Princess - I’m not crying, you’re crying), change is necessary. This home has served many & it’s time for its next chapter as well as ours.

If this sounds like your kid or teen, congrats! Your kid or teen is an amazing citizen of the world & with your support, they'll become more aware & conscious as they grow.
Here are three ways to help them in the meantime:
1. Create a separation practice. Grab some bubbles, go in the yard, & pop bubbles for each part of their day & each person they spoke to. Alternatively, write down the events of the day & then destroy the paper.
2. Give them space to process & guide them to what's theirs to manage. There's a difference between holding space for others while they process & trying to process for them. Help them understand the difference with their real-world experiences.
3. Encourage self-focused activities that keep them at the center of their experience & their emotions. With young children, this might be imaginary play, while with teens, this could be journaling or making a collage. The activity should give them space to focus on themselves.
Bonus: Limit time in virtually connected space. They force us all to be "on" & "present" more often than is healthy.

Ever notice how after school, kids seem to either want to completely check out or burst with energy? That’s because they need transition time.
Whether it’s an episode of their favorite show, a mini dance party, or just some time outside, this time is key for helping them unwind & reset before diving into extracurriculars or homework.
For some kids, it’s about expending energy. Others need time to zone out & mentally recharge. Teens especially need time away from socially engaging technology—TV or a movie is okay, but try to limit the constant notifications from devices.
The goal? To give their brains & bodies space to separate from where they just were (school) & get ready for what’s next.
