Conversations with your child have many difficulty levels -- Easy, Medium, Hard.
There are many obstacles -- your conditioning, your goals, their mindset, their willingness to engage.

❓So, just how do you make a head start?
❓How to steer the conversation?
❓How to handle their IFs and BUTs?

The answer is simple-- 🌟TRUST your instincts.
🌟Don't set out to achieve what YOU WANT.
🌟Be open to UNDERSTANDING them. They might just have a point.
🌟Acceptance is not your DEFEAT. It's your WIN.

“When you reread a classic, you do not see more in the book than you did before; you see more in you than there was before.” ― Cliff Fadiman

If your child is a voracious reader, introducing them to classics is a great idea!
And if they aren't, like mine, try introducing them to abridged versions.
I am not a big fan of abridged versions, but you never know which world fascinates your child and they make it their own. This is when you give them the original!

There is no ONE tip or trick that works for all. You just have to keep trying. What's your all time classic favourite? You know where to tell me👇😃

Imprinting is a biological phenomenon observed in most newly born birds and mammals.
🐣Babies of ducks, geese and turkey start walking behind their mother as soon as they are hatched.
🐥Imprinting allows the babies to bond with their mothers, and gain a sense of identity.

As parents, we are a significant imprint on our children's lives.
How they behave, react or respond to a situation is often influenced by how we respond to incidents in our daily life.

IT'S A BIG RESPONSIBILITY.
OWNING IT OR SHIRKING IT AWAY IS OUR CHOICE.
BUT WHATEVER WE CHOOSE WILL DECIDE OUR CHILD'S CHOICE IN LIFE.
THINK AND DECIDE.

Double tap if you are willing to take the onus. ❤️🤗

Setting goals and achieving them is a very significant part of our lives.
It is an important learning for our children, too.
Like adults, children are often gripped with questions and doubts.

Thinking the RIGHT thoughts in the RIGHT way is a good way to negate these thoughts.
This cannot happen in a day.
But with constant REMINDERS from you, it will become a PRACTICE for them. 🌟✨🌈 Double tap if you agree 😃

Some of these are a part of collection while for some, I’ve done market research and gone through reviews on various platforms. All these are easily available on Amazon. HAPPY READING! My grandfather passed away when I was very young.
But, his memories have stayed on with me, as if it was just yesterday that he left us. 🌟

He was a gifted writer. He also translated several works of Ghalib, Mir, and Zouk in English.
When I was barely six years old, he taught me how to write poetry.
We wrote a poem on Christmas as part of a school assignment.
I clearly remember that day, for it seems that my love for words was born then.

Here's an excerpt from a short story that I have penned down, celebrating his last days with me: "The unvanquished spider"

In life, some relationships do not need time to strengthen.
You connect with this person at a soul level.
This connection has very little explanation, but the deepest of meaning.

Think of this soul today who has this connect with you.
Pay gratitude to them for just being "there" with you.
Even if the soul is no more with you, pay gratitude to all the memories that you have with them. 🙏🌸
❤️✨ ❤️ ❤️

What is your safe haven?
To me, it's my inner space of peace, rest, and reflection.

No matter how busy your day has been,
No matter how reckless your thoughts have been,
Turn to your safe haven,
To find your balance again.

Dussehra is a festival of good over evil.

When 3-year-old Daksh saw his first Ramlila, he was ecstatic. But, when the time came to burn the effigy of Ravana, Daksh howled.
His heart went out to Ravana. While I tried to explain the reason behind burning the effigy, he responded, "Ram could have asked Ravana to say sorry!"

We had a good laugh. But as I pondered over his response, I asked myself, "Was Ravana evil?"
Perhaps not. He was a great, wise king. He just made a wrong choice.

From then, every Dussehra, Daksh lights a candle and accepts one wrong choice that he made.
We discuss how things went wrong and how he can make a better choice in future.

If you will try this with your child, Like ❤️ this post and I will know. 😀
HAPPY DUSSEHRA! 🤗🤗🙏🙏

If you have stopped at this, then spend a little time thinking about this. We are all so busy racing that we often forget to slow down for a moment and savour the peace and calm it brings.

It’s okay to take a pause.

It’s okay to do nothing for some time.

It’s okay to sit back and reflect.

It’s okay to JUST BE ❤️

If you are deciding to take a mid-week slow down, like this post and we’ll applaud you 🤗 ❤️

I stumbled upon this interesting book that explains the nine special forms of Ma Durga.
As we invoke each of these forms over nine nights and days (Navratri) culminating in Dussehra, let's help our kids understand their relevance.

Along with this book recommendation, here's a simple introduction to these nine forms (Nav Durga) for children.
For more detailed stories, grab a copy of this book!

Happy Navratri! 🙏
Happy Ashtami! 🌸🌸 I am not an expert in mythology. But I have tried to put together information from reliable sources. Apologies, if I have erred anywhere.

I have never been fond of cats. Being an ardent animal lover, I am not averse to cats but never thought I could cuddle them like dogs.

But this little one stole my heart from the time I saw him. All of four months, this one’s a little mountain cat.

He lives along with a pup, two goats, a cow, and a human. They have a little family that’s perched on a hilltop. Amongst the rustling grass, soft purrs, and low bleats, the music of the mountains ensues❤️

Daksh held him in his arms too and played with the little one. This was his first introduction to cats. He turned back and said, “We can have cats too, mom!” 😀

P.S We’ve named this nameless kitten CHEEKU 🤗 💞🐶 ⛰

To my first love.
My first man who I have loved and adored to the hilt.
My warrior. My strength. My idol!

I had always wanted to have a man like you, except on days when we argued and fought 😉

Your boundless optimism has been my inspiration.

It’s true dad’s are their daughter’s best friend. For who else can selflessly love us apart from you.

I wish I can bring up my son like you brought me up. Even in those days, you trusted me unconditionally. You allowed me space to fall and learn. I now know how your heart must have ached to see me fall. But you let that happen, so I could LEARN.

What I have learnt, what I stand for in life today is all thanks to you, dad. 🤗

Love you dad to the moon and back 💝
Happy birthday my favourite 💐
💙 ❤️

Compulsively playing video games can become a mental health condition, if not identified and addressed at the right time.
Research has pointed out that gaming triggers the brain's reward system and modifies a child's behaviour.

Most of us are grappling with this at some level or another.
I have put together some signs and strategies that may be of help to you. I am trying these with my child, and do hope these will help you too!

There is no one formula that can apply to all kids. So keep trying and have patience!
Like if you will give it a shot ❤️

Helping kids clean up their rooms has great benefits on their physical and mental health.

Living in a neat and organized space gives them a sense of peacefulness.

Looking after their space is a great way to feel "belonged" to the place, and appreciate it even more!

Most importantly, de-cluttering is not a PROJECT; it's a PRACTICE.

When a child screams and yells, or cries, or feels helpless, should we ignore it or give undue attention?

A word of caution: What seems like a tantrum, at first, might just be a meltdown.

So, to ADDRESS it right, it's important to UNDERSTAND it right.

LET'S BEGIN THE WEEK WITH THIS!

Sharing an excerpt from a book I came across by Patrick Ness.
Reading these lines over and over again stirs something in me. All of us have a dismal spot in the corner of our hearts that keeps prodding us now and then. Words like these work like a balm for the heart and touch the corner that’s shrouded in darkness 🌈
Happy Monday!!🌸🌻💐 ❤️ ❤️ 😊

"I need a break!"
"Why do I have to do this daily?"

Or does your child simply lose track of time and forgets to switch over to the next task?

But following a routine can be difficult for some.
Here's how we can help them NOT find following routine a challenging task.

Any other things that have worked for you?

If children manage to identify their emotions and are able to label them, they’ve already taken the first step to becoming aware of them. Then experiencing emotions and managing emotions comes more easily to a child. 💚

Have you said this to your child today? Positive words work like magic for your children.
They reassure them that they are LOVED, WANTED and SECURE.

Remind your children how much they mean to you each day, each moment.
For it is their smiles, their laughter that's ALL of the world for you! ❤️

I so need this today! And you? Our minds will always amplify problems. We have to constantly dismiss these thoughts and insist on being positive. Gradually, the mind will start to think differently. That’s when you win the battle🌸🌈🌟 ❤️

Off late I have heard of many families trying to give up their dogs because they cannot handle them any longer. The kids don’t seem to care either so it’s adoption time for the dog.

Yes the separation can be painful for the pet.

And what about the life skills that your child will learn from this instance?

At the end, you are your best judge but do spare a thought 🤗 ❤️

You might be encouraging your child to learn sharing and kindness.
But are you also teaching them to be generous?

An ancient Egyptian legend goes like this. Long long ago when the sun was still young, there lived a magnificent bird- the Phoenix. The sun was so much in awe of the bird’s glory that it blessed the Phoenix with the boon of immortality. YOU WILL LIVE FOREVER. The Phoenix was ecstatic and flew across rivers and deserts in the open sky. Five hundred years later, the bird grew weak and could fly no more. It gathered cinnamon barks and herbs and flew back to its home. Reaching home, it built a fragrant nest with these herbs. Phoenix called out to the sun - MAKE ME STRONG AGAIN! The sun shone down the hillside with all its power. Suddenly there was a flash and the bird was burnt to ashes. But then the ash began to tremble and it started rising upwards. The Phoenix had risen from the ashes and was strong again 🌟 Like Phoenix, we all have the power to rise again, overcome our struggles and be strong again! May the Phoenix be with you 🌞 💋
