It gives me so much happiness to announce that ‘Parwaaz’ is now released and streaming on all major platforms.

It’s been a long, long, journey, but I’ve had all the support that I could ever wish for, and more. ‘Parwaaz’ is very close to my heart and has been integral to my artistry so far.

My second EP, Parwaaz, comes out on all platforms on 9th July. Here’s a look at the stunning artwork hand-painted by Rohan Bhatia and illustrated by Bhavya Kumar.

Putting my face on the artwork was a bold choice for me, especially ‘cause those of you who know me know I wouldn’t normally opt for this. However, Parwaaz has been about breaking self-made barriers, “rules”, and boxes, and exploring, discovering, & challenging my art.

At the risk of sounding narcissistic, I really do love this artwork so much :)

Track 4 of my EP is called ‘Parwaaz’.
This EP has been in the works for about two years now. Inspired by my Nani-baari in Benaras, my deep cultural roots, love for sound synthesis, ambient electronic textures, and the wondrous and majestic existence of nature, ‘Parwaaz’ has travelled all around the world and come back home for its premiere.

I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to work with sarangi maestro Yuji Nakagawa on this track, who has so delicately woven beautiful lines and melodies and created a warm and rich bed of sounds upon which this track lies.

I remember discussing my EP-tracklist with Faraz a few months ago. At one point in our convo, I was thinking out loud about asking an artist to remix one of my tracks for the first time and whether it would be a good idea. Then, casually, in the moment, I asked him if he would be interested. Months later, here we are, and I couldn’t be happier about it!!

This ‘Dream Rework’ gives me all the feels and more. It has left me in awe of ’s creativity, originality, and musical sensitivity. ❄️🐈✨

Rogue Waves are one of nature’s most amazing and dangerous phenomena. They can form upto a 100 ft. high.
This is a snippet of “Rogue Waves”.

This 2nd track of my EP happened after binging on YouTube videos on pro surfing and watching the 1991 Action/Thriller film ‘Point Break’. Yep, you read that right…

All of it made me think of the grandiosity and magnificence of nature, especially of waves, while at the same time thinking of just how easily it can also cause death and destruction in the blink of an eye. In front of this wild-but-strangely-serene, unleashed, natural power, a mere human being is of absolutely no consequence.

“Jaagu Main Saari Raina” translates into - “ I am awake all night.” Inspired by Indian classical vocalist Dr. Prabha Atre’s composition, this is the first track on my EP ‘Parwaaz’.

Does anyone else feel that they’re most creative deep into the night?
The night is truly free. It doesn’t judge us, expect anything of us, or pressurize us. It just let’s us be, comfortably, in it’s peaceful beauty. Late into the night/early in the morning, I’m the only one awake at home, but I never feel lonely. I’m wholly awake, alive, conscious, and full of ideas & energy. This track is an ode to the night time.

I produced this track while living in Brooklyn, NY. I had just moved there and used to feel very lost. I often found myself up late at night, wondering what to do (in life), where I was headed etc. This song was created on one of these unexpected nights.

It includes powerful vocal performances by my strong yet graceful grandmother (dadima) who isn't afraid to push her mental boundaries, my beautiful and gentle best friend Amira Gill who's always curious about the universe, and my passionate and fiery youngest cousin, Ishani Rungta, who will, one day, take over world.

Yesterday, I came across an extremely precious gem called Vidushi Vasundhara Komkali, fondly know as Vasundhara Tai. The moment I heard her sing, something inside me stirred and I couldn't believe I'd deprived myself of her voice for this long! Here is a short clip of me *pretending* to be her "shishya" (student) and singing along after having listened to her all day and night on loop. So effortless, so gentle and smooth. An entire universe to learn.
