It is my very best friend’s birthday today… 🐾 Black found me at a time in my life when I didn’t know I needed him the most.. I was very shut down, very sad, very unsure and confused about what I was going to do with my life.. I was so unhappy with myself and my life until this nugget showed up and opened my world to so much. I had already met him through a friend, when they were looking to re-home him I stepped up and took him. Knowing it was going to be a challenge as Bo Jackson and I were mourning our previous pack from passing at an old age. It was definitely a challenge, Black had 0 manners, 0 experience, and 0 respect for anyone or thing.. After lots of months and sleepless nights and days of consistency.. Our relationship and bond turned into an absolutely beautiful blooming flower, our synergy and spiritual connection is something I’ve never had with any dog or living thing for that matter. He helped me build confidence as a dog trainer, while he gained it as well! He helped me learn from him while applying it to my training dogs, he’s shown me patience, kindness and true stability. He used to be a troublemaker and now he helps me show the ropes with some of my toughest training dogs. Black has touched so many people and dogs in his lifetime and I couldn’t be more proud of his progress and where he’s at today. Few peoples get to experience this relationship with their dog, but few people lack the basic knowledge and consistency that goes with it. But when they do? It’s indescribable… This is what life should be more about, admiring the beauty, spending more time in the present moment. These past 3 months have been so eye-opening for me, I separated myself from people and things that no longer served a greater purpose for my well-being or my future… That inclined me to step way out of my comfort zone to reach for something like this. It has been terrifying to say the least, physically exhausting, mentally challenging… but overall so irrevocably rewarding. I’ve learned so much already in such a short amount of time.. I’ve failed, succeeded, failed again, cried happy tears and not so happy tears, many sleepless nights or rewarding days. Trials and errors are bound to happen and I’m here to learn from it all. Here is a recap of some activities I’ve been lucky enough to recently do. My growth doesn’t stop here, my education doesn’t stop here as it is only the beginning of my journey.. Took some time to work with my boys while the weather is getting nicer, we had a skatepark behind them and a park with a soccer game happening in front as well. Lots of distractions! We worked on tethered decompression, tug, leash manners, obedience and some recall!
