She Felt. Fine Textile Designs
Fine felted products, handmade.
In the middle of winter, under grey and moody skies, She Felt especially eager for green buds of new growth, warm breezes, garden dirt under her fingernails and bird song.
These Bird Pods are made from Merino, Icelandic and Bluefaced Leicester and adorned with curly locks. They can be hung inside as decoration or outside in a protected spot. The natural properies of wool allow these pods to shed moisture, providing an inviting roosting spot for various species, or just a fun addition to any home garden.
Turns out, I like blue. This scarf is fairly large (17"x65") but light as a feather, wonderfully soft and warm. The photo makes it look kind of washed out. It has a wonderfully rich hue with underlying sea greens and reds. It's made of just 12 grams of wool with layers and layers of the finest Uzbek silk. The felting process causes the wool fibers to migrate through the weave of the silk, locking it all into place like magic. I made this for myself but I'm hope to make more of these for sale (when I figure out how to do that) this winter. Stay tuned for more colors 🙂
