Do you need an attorney to get divorced?
The simple answer is no! 🤯
You don't necessarily need to hire an attorney to get divorced, particularly if you and your spouse agree on all major issues or you want to utilize a cost-effective method of divorcing, such as mediation.
Of course, if you are filing by yourself or utilizing mediation, it is best to have an attorney review your agreement. They can give you helpful legal advice and guidance to ensure you have considered everything.
Are there any other myths you have heard that you would like clarified? Please share👇

Lesson #4 I learned from my divorce:
I learned that ending a marriage that is unhappy or unhealthy is actually an act of self-love.
Sometimes we outgrow relationships.
Sometimes we realize that our spouse (no matter how many times we beg and plead), just can’t meet our needs.
Sometimes big hurts or betrayals happen that we just can’t get over.
Sometimes we have a spouse that struggles with addiction and we get to a point where we’re not willing to give them one more chance.
Here’s what I know for sure: You deserve to be valued.
You deserve to be respected.
You deserve to be loved the way you need to be loved.
You deserve to be a part of a reciprocal partnership.
If you’re not, it’s ok to choose YOU.

You're done with your divorce! The ink is dry...halleluiah! But wait...you are not done!
Here are 5 important things you need to do to protect yourself after your divorce:
💻Change your passwords on everything. Yes EVERYTHING! We have all heard horror stories about exes getting into your private files, reading your emails, or sliding into your DMs. Protect yourself and change your passwords!
💳 Cancel your joint credit cards. Let's face it, credit card companies are a big, lucrative business, they do not care about what your divorce agreement says! In their eyes, you are still responsible! Get that joint account PAID and CANCEL that card. You don't want something like this to harm your future!
📃Make/update your Will. If you have a Will in place that was written with your spouse, now is the time to get that refreshed. Maybe you no longer want to give all your worthy possessions to your ex, or you do not want to be buried next to them. Wills can feel gruesome, but you want to make sure your final wishes are understood!
🌍 Change all your beneficiaries. Does your 401(k) have your ex listed as your beneficiary? You fought so hard to keep your retirement plan during your divorce, don't let them get now! Beneficiaries trump those wills. So --- Don't hesitate, update today!
💹Hire a Financial Advisor or Coach. Now is the time to manage your own money your own way. In my opinion, it is in your best interest to get your very own financial advisor. They will help you establish your own goals and lead you into your future, successfully!
💸 If you have never handled your finances before and this is all new to you! Hire a financial coach that specializes in helping you to move into the next chapter with ease and grace.

🛑There are multiple stages when contemplating whether or not to end a marriage! 🛑
Each one can last months or even years with three distinct stages.
🪞Consideration stage is the earliest and most reversible stage. People may think about divorce but not as a serious option – in other words they do not even mention to their mother or best friend yet. But hopefully they are discussing with their therapist. In this stage they are in denial.
🤔Deliberation stage is where someone gives more serious thought to divorce but is confused and conflicted. Maybe they are starting to mention, but only to the most trusted individuals. In this stage fear and possibly anger can become real.
📃Verdict stage is the phase where they make the decision to stay or go, often with much inner turmoil. During this stage they mention that they want a divorce to their spouse.
No matter which stage you are in, the best thing you can do is get yourself educated about the process and how to make the right decision for you and your family.

Divorce and Heartbreak are hard! And letting go can sometimes feel impossible, especially around the holidays! So, if you are contemplating divorce, this is your first holiday without your spouse, or even if you have been divorced for a while...Be kind to yourself!
Here are some tips for getting through today and any day that seems especially hard:
⌚Take time for yourself - Go for a walk, get a massage, or reflect. When you take time for you, your mood will definitely improve!
👍🏻 Set boundaries - If you know you are not going to like or enjoy something, rescue yourself from that feeling! Saying no to them is really saying yes to you!
🎁 Be present - Don't just get presents but take the time to enjoy the moments. Try to focus on what's around you. Think about what excites you and makes the holidays so special!
🛑Don't overextend yourself - Sometimes we do this because when we are busy our mind does not over think, or we want to make the holidays extra special for our families. This can lead to exhaustion and perhaps leave you feeling unwell.
Hope this holiday season brings you lots of Joy!
