We had our 1st woodland walk on saturday! It was so nice just us two walking around the wood and down the bark factory, it's been so long. It tired him out for the day but it's a massive step πŸ’™πŸΎ

So Arlo had his booster and check up yesterday, hes getting a good build up of muscle now around his legs - left Is less due to being operated on last, but hes showing great signs of recovery. Hes very much enjoying his little trots and the gradual increase in walks πŸ’™

Hi all!

Arlo had his 6 week check and the vets are happy but he does need a little longer on the rest, mainly because his left leg was the worst out of the both just to give it longer to heal but all in all he is doing great!

Hopefully this is the last we need with Kentdales and I want to tha k each and everyone for donating, getting involved with raffles, sending your love and well wishes. We honestly couldnt have done it without you!

Were on our last bottle of loxicom, and after that hell just be on his joint supplements.

Thankyou all again πŸ’œ

That's arlo had his last tablet, couldn't take him for 2 week post checkup as I've been unwell and were self isolating. So going to take him next week but hes doing really well... just wanting to go 100miles an hour ha

02/08/2021

1st week check up πŸ‘Œ
Vet is really happy with Arlos progress, leg is really healing well, and has no concerns.
Checked his front leg with the elbow dysplasia and all feels good.
Also advised once we get the all clear from Kentdale we can stop loxicom and just keep on the yumove πŸ’™πŸΎ

Good news all round.
Hes had steak and gravy for dinner now cuddles and a good film!

Happy Sunday all,

The swelling has full gone and the wound is healing nicely, still minimal weight bare, but it has only been a week.

Post op check up monday to see how his leg is doing, hopefully all is as good on the inside πŸ’™πŸΎ

28/07/2021

Update
Today the swelling is showing signs of reducing, hes much more settled and knows he has to sleep in the pen at night until he can weight bare. We're enjoying the cooler weather and looking forward to a check up next week. πŸ’™πŸΎ

Arlo has Seroma, a fluid build up under the skin caused by trauma (TPLO op), temp is okay and they are happy with the wound itself, just need to keep an eye and gentle massage the fluid to help break it down. His limping on his front paw is un resolved, they can feel the left elbow joint in thicker than the right but we knew he already had mild elbow dysplasia. They just dont know if it's that or if it's because hes substituting the weight on the front legs and the left is weaker than the right. Apart from that hes managing okay, just needs plenty of cuddles and kisses.

25/07/2021

Morning all, weve woken up to slightly more swelling on the hock, it looks like fluid. We were told this was to be expected and hes on rilexine antibiotics. I'm going to measure every day to monitor the size and hope it goes down after a few days! Keep us in your thoughts, I feel this recovery is going to be a little harder as he is kicking me whenever I go to put his shorts on, we didnt have this as much last time.

Were all home and settled in, bill was a little less due to insurance paying what was left from the Β£5000 of his right leg and some left over money we raised of which most was used for his last xrays. Antibiotics for 20 days, and pain relief with loxicom. Hopefully this is the last we see Kentdales! I cannot thank everyone enough for you help, kind words, support and love! Were not out of the woods yet and have to really watch for an infection, but were hoping in a few weeks Arlo will notice the difference as hell be in so much less pain.

23/07/2021

Update from the vets, arlos surgery went well, he was under anaesthetic a little longer as had small complication of extra blood and swelling. Hes on antibiotics, and being monitored closely. He doesnt think its likely to cause a post op infection but well need to keep a close eye, make sure everything is clean, wiped down regularly. His cruciate had completely ruptured on his left, and hin meniscus was showing signs of tear. Implant has gone in okay and were okay to collect 9.30 am providing he does well tonight. πŸΎπŸ’™

23/07/2021

Arlo was dropped off 8.30 this morning, well be getting an update within the hour on how surgery went. A very quiet house again, looking forward to my boy coming come tomorrow. I have requested an earlier discharge due to the heat, I dont want to have to drive him for 2 hours in the afternoon in this heat if I can avoid it.

22/07/2021

Arlo had burgers for dinner last night as a pre op treat! Tonight he has his full wash and ready for the drive down to Kentdales tomorrow morning for his last op 🀞
Will keep you all updated 🐾

08/07/2021

Hi all, just a quick update, Arlos op has been postponed for 2 weeks due the vets self isolating. Were gutted for him but fingers crossed all goes well for 2 weeks time.

30/06/2021

Hi guys,

After weeks of emails, having the left leg partially accepted and then finding out they are only paying upto Β£5000 for both legs and vets doing their best to get something for the left leg, insurance have given final decision that they wont cover anything for Arlos left leg. Hes booked in for 9th July so this is a final push for anyone who would like to contribute to Arlos GoFundMe page.

We know what were expecting this time round so think it will go much smoother (we hope).

Will be posting updates of him on next Friday and onwards.

Thankyou all for your continued support πŸ’™πŸΎ

Hi all,

This is not Arlo related, but you were all so amazing in helping us I thought I'd share on here too.

My cousin runs an animal sanctuary in Ireland and this beautiful 11 month old boy was saved from being PTS from an experience that changed his entire temperament. My cousin is a behaviourist and will work her amazing wonders on him, but if anyone can spare a few pounds to help with his recovery and vet bills, it would be gratefully accepted by the charity.

Great news!
Arlos right leg has healed perfectly, 100% success.

His left leg is also showing signs of stabilisation, we have been asked if we still want to operate and have decided to go ahead, as it will only proloungue the issue for it to go at a later date.

So, so far all good news with right leg and now back to getting in longer walks spread out in the day πŸ’™πŸΎ

Heres him cuddled up last week 😍

12/06/2021

Hi all!

I've been on holiday and came back to a happy bear who is full of energy! Weve got our post op checks on Monday where hell be sedated and xrayed and then booked in for the left leg. Atleast this time well know what's coming!
Well be using the money raised to pay for his post op checks, so thankyou all for every penny you raised.

Heres a cheeky pic as hes just too cute!

Just had a call from Kentdale, Arlo has been having crackling noises coming from his left knee (still to be operated on) the crackling and clicking is normal for cruciate injury, and aslong as Arlo can still walk and put weight on both legs there is no concern to re assess him. So that's good news!

20/05/2021

Hi guys,

So we've moved onto sitting in the garden (with us), and we now are having one 10 minute walk a day. So Arlo is pleased to be going somewhere now.

We still have some Avon Raffles on, so please take a look at them, payment is via bank or cash due to paypal terms and conditions.

In Arlos pot we have in total Β£509 which is amazing!
We can express how grateful we are to everyone who supported, shared and donated prizes.

Thankyou πŸΎπŸ’™

Vet update
Arlo has been really full of energy the past few days, bes also learnt how to climb - yes climb over his pen last night. 3 times!
Hes been to the vets today, they have checked his leg, all is healing well and feels okay but there is some fluid there. It's not an infection and should go down in a week or so.
Weve also been told to not put him in the pen at night and allow him to climb on the sofa as that will he much less strenuous than climbing over the pen. We can cant keep him in the kitchen as theres steps so it's really limited us on what to do.
Hes been a little bu**er, I allow him to come with me in the kitchen while I make his dinner and then he just sits and lays until hes ready to come back into the living room.

I think hes finding it really hard to adjust and doesnt understand why hes not aloud to do things.

All that being said, were doing well. Were trying our very best when never being exposed to this and keeping a very watchful eye!

Love sammi & Arlo πŸ’™πŸΎ
