Our Heroes had the amazing opportunity to work with Wilderness Trails Zoo!

They absolutely loved being able to learn what the day to day work day looks like for Wilderness Trails.
They were able to learn some job skills while also meeting some new furry friends!

Heroes and Families:

I am putting together some training and outreach materials. I would really like to know what information do you wish you had known prior to your Hero leaving the school system?

Were you aware of support services? Were you aware of any transition programs? What about Social Security? Did you feel prepared to help your young adult transition towards independence? Did you have the tools needed?

This information will be very helpful for me to put together the most beneficial package to deliver to new families as they face the same challenges we have all endured. Thank you for your input! You are not only helping me, but also innumerable families about to embark on a new journey!

Last Friday, Jennifer Levine Silverton and I did a podcast with Community Foundation of Greater Flint celebrating the Americans with Disabilities Act! Although I feel like I sound monotone, Jennifer more than made up for it with her natural ability to be interviewed and such! A lot of great information and visions were shared! We are working hard to take Xceptional Heroes to the next level and begin initiating our plans for education and community outreach! Please listen in and share!

Yesterday our Heores had the amazing opportunity to attend the Flint Institute of Arts!

They got a tour of the amazing art show rooms and learned about the different art forms that were present.

After the tour they got to test their skills and knowledge of watercolors and create some of their own pieces of Art!

We are so thankful for this opportunity that Flint Institute of Arts gave us!

Our friends at MTA asked us to share this information with our Heroes and Families. Your input could be the driving factor for change! If you can make to either of these Open Houses, you will have the opportunity to have your voice heard! If you can't attend the open house, there is still an opportunity to submit input and comments via email.
