Born on January 14, 1898, Carlos P. Romulo came a long way from spending his early childhood in Camiling, Tarlac, to being the first Asian president of the United Nations General Assembly, receiving the Pulitzer Prize in Correspondence, and being named National Artist for Literature.

Today, as we celebrate his 124th birth anniversary, the National Library of the Philippines features a monograph of one of his early writings entitled “Folklore Stories Common in the Province of Tarlak” published on March 13, 1918.
