Travel day number one matters more than any other

Routine and consistency are the most important things when it comes to your fitness, nutrition, and overall health. Planning ahead for your trip is your first step to succeed. Have your non-negotiables mapped out ahead of time. Consider how you can sneak in extra steps, knock out your strength training in small spaces, and seek out nutrient-dense foods. 

The very first day of your travel will set the tone for the rest of the days on that travel segment. Make day one an accomplishment that you’re proud of, and you will start with positivity and pride. Your likeliness of repeating this positive action goes way up for the following days. Positivity breeds positivity and success breeds success.

Stacking Bands….

If you are working out with the loop style bands you may hit a point in your progression where you are in-between bands.

For example, you’ve increased the tension as much as physically possible by changing your grip and shortening the slack on the “light” band. The light band is too easy and your reps required to hit fatigue or a good pump is higher than you’d like. But when you try to bump up to the “medium” band, it’s just too much tension too soon, even when using a grip with lthe least amount of resistance.

Go ahead and stack the “extra light” band onto the “light” band. This stacking technique can give you that extra bump up to help you progress. Of course the stacking works with all the band sizes, not just the sizes used in the example. It’s a great tip to help you find you sweet spot of resistance on certain exercises when you need a bit more.

I've had several clients in the past six months notify me that their doctor wrote them a medical necessity letter so that they can pay for their health coaching out of their HSA account.

Most doctors aren't trained in nutrition or exercise, and have incentives to promote other prescriptions. I'm thrilled that SOME of them are finally coming on board with food, muscle, and movement as the proper prevention and treatment for chronic disease and age disabilities.

If you can't afford online coaching, consider asking your doctor about this if you have HSA benefits. Also, keep your eyes peeled for the next group challenge starting January 2024.

What a month it’s been. We bought our new RV, sold our old RV, and have been busy during the transition.
While at the Alliance Rally in Elkhart, I was grateful to get to meet with not only one, but TWO, of my amazing clients. Anne from On the Road of Adventure came over and did a band workout with me. And Shelley made a special stop while traveling through the area, just to say hi and share a hug!
We are absolutely loving our new space. So much room for cooking and working out. We’ve been breaking it in and can’t wait to share our beautiful space with you all!

Even if you’re lean, you’re likely under-muscled (unless you are strength training). As we age we start losing muscle mass after 20 years old. So if you weigh the same now as you did in your twenties, you’re likely twice as fat and half as muscular. Think of it as you were once a lean filet mignon and now you’re a marbled ribeye. Strength training is critical for metabolic health no matter what size you are. And if you are trying to look more “toned”, what you really want is more muscle. I always struggled with body image, even being a generally lean person. When I started to lift weights my world changed. Throwback picture to 2013 when I went from skinny fat to strong. Join the May challenge to start your strength training journey. Muscle is the key to your health-span and longevity. It’s never too late, and you’re not too old.

Don’t underestimate the power of fresh air, sunshine, and simply walking. Three very powerful tools to kick ass. All three are completely underrated, generally speaking. Want to feel better and boost your health and your mood instantly? Go outside and walk. Even if you are in a state that is freezing cold and need to bundle up. You’ll be glad you did.
