Jungle Geranium

The scientific name of Jungle Geranium is Ixora coccinea. It is also known as “Flame of the Woods”, “Jungle Flame” or ”Pendkuli”. It is a common flowering shrub abundant in Southern India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

It is a dense, multi-branched evergreen shrub, commonly 4–6 feet in height, but capable of reaching up to 12 feet high. It has a rounded form, with a spread that may exceed its height. The glossy, leathery, oblong leaves are about 4 inches long, with entire margins, and are carried in opposite pairs or whorled on the stems. Small tubular, scarlet flowers in dense rounded clusters 2–5 inches across are produced almost all year long.

The flowers, leaves, roots, and the stem are used to treat various ailments in the Indian traditional system of medicine, the Ayurveda, and in various folk medicines. The fruits, when fully ripe, are used as a dietary source.

Almost Perennial

Imagine yourself on the shoes of someone who has to take responsibility and accountability of others action. Imagine standing tall among the all engulfing darkness with a strong stature weathering the waves of uncertainty, showing no form of suffering. Taking responsibility must be a tiring, tedious and challenging exercise. Imagine being the light post or protagonist in a spineless society that is starved of leadership and forward thinking. As the dusk approaches and nothingness encroaches, a spark of light is what earnestly solicited. Showing the brink of light to guide the parasites to their own subjective achievements and fulfilments is never an easy responsibility to have. Next time you stumble upon someone who takes ownership and shows courage, stand by and appreciate them. That's the best we as a society can do.

The Seven Sisters Waterfalls

The Seven Sisters Waterfalls (also known as the Nohsngithiang Falls or Mawsmai Falls) is a seven-segmented waterfall located 1 kilometre south of Mawsmai village in East Khasi Hills district in the Indian state of Meghalaya. The water falls from a height of 315 metres and has an average width of 70 metres, making it one of the tallest waterfalls in India.

The falls plunges over the top of limestone cliffs of the Khasi Hills only during the rainy season. In full spate, the segments stretch most of the way along the cliff. The waterfalls get illuminated by the sun and the vibrant colours of the setting sun on the waterfalls make it beautiful.

No entry fees or charges are applied to the tourists who come for a visit. The actual beauty of this waterfall is visible during the monsoon. Otherwise, in any other season you can find only tall and steep limestone cliffs.

Gallantly Green: The Nature’s Abode

The best part about North-east India is its unparalleled beauty. Being detached from the mainland of the country may have many disadvantages. But, that has been a blessing in disguise to the nature.

Meghalaya is one of those states that are part of North-Eastern India. “Meghalaya” means “The Home to the Clouds”. It is the state having highest rainfall in a year in India and the consequences to that is these green landscapes. It is one of the greenest states in India.

The stretch of greens is gallantly announcing its resistance against the rapid urbanization and quick deforestation.

Elephant Falls

The original native name of this waterfall is Ka Kshaid Lai Pateng Khohsiew, which means “the three-step waterfall”. It is situated at Shillong in the state of Meghalaya of India. The name “Elephant Falls” was originated in the British era when the Englishmen spotted a giant rock resembling an elephant near the fall. Though the rock was destroyed by the earthquake in 1987.

The first fall is very broad and is hidden among the trees. The second fall is quite domesticated and in the winters looks insignificant. The third fall is the tallest and comes to view suddenly and looks most spectacular with crystal clear water falling over sharp rocks of myriad shapes.

Elephant Falls is situated at the outskirts of the main city of Shillong in the East Khasi Hills District, Upper Shillong. It is almost 12 km away from the Shillong city center. A ticket costing 20 INR is required to view the fall with an additional charge of 20 INR for permission to bring the camera.

Emotions
Eyes resonate the unspoken emotions. The shining bright eyes dazzle, depicting the validation of joy. The sense of hopelessness, need for validation and love ushers through the eyes of the creation of the almighty. Sometimes, it really makes me wonder if the default mechanisms of nature are designed as the wonderful accident of life happened. Every living being is the result of an improbable accident in our universe. We are all connected to each other through the unseen, undiscovered traces of life. Somehow, emotions can't escape through this inter-species relationship of love and hate. Language can never be a barrier.

Assam Tea Garden

During the mid-1800s, the British stumbled upon an unexpected treasure in the North-east Provinces of their "Jewel in the Crown", India. This ground-breaking discovery was immediately followed up by the bloodiest history of extortion as slaves and natives faced the sharper knife edge. The history of Tea gardens in Assam speaks the story of millions of lost and deprived souls who have given their sweat and blood to satisfy the fancy bourgeoisie tea sipping culture. Their unspoken demands resonate through the missing pages of history. Next time, remember the sacrifices of generations of tea garden workers when you enjoy your hot daily dosage of the revolutionary magic powder.

The Best Getaway: Road trips

I believe, the road trips are the best trips of all the trips and especially on those steep hills where those curvy roads are inclined or declined at every interval. Each and every blind turn unfolds beautiful landscapes as well as thrilling experiences. All one can do is to have steady nerves to keep the wheels on the track and the series of mysteries will keep unveiling.
The craving for those thrills and adventures motivates me more than the scariness of feeling nauseous on those curves.

Avian have existed from the Jurassic age of the Geological time scale. They are descendants of the two-legged dinosaur known as Theropods. The Red-vented Bulbul

The red-vented bulbul can be easily distinguished by its short crest giving the head a squarish appearance. The body is dark brown with a scaly pattern while the head is darker or black. The rump is white while the vent is red. The black tail is tipped in white.
Sexes are similar in plumage, but young birds are duller than adults. The typical call has been transcribed as ginger beer but a number of sharp single note calls likened as pick are also produced. Their alarm calls are usually responded to and heeded by many other species of bird.

Evolve or Vanish

In the botanical terms they are called as succulent plants or succulents. They can basically retain water in various structures like stems, leaves and sometimes roots also; and they are mostly found in the areas with high temperature and low rainfall. Though it can be grown under normal conditions as well. The fleshy parts can retain enough water to help the plant survive in adverse situations.
But don't confuse them with the cacti.
Nearly all cacti are succulents, but no succulent is a cactus.

Tale of Ungrateful beings

The largest and heaviest herbivores of the animal kingdom may seem threatening on cards. But, they have always been a great ally of humankind. Their problem solving cognitive abilities depict signs of complex intelligence. The centuries of mate-ship has now turned soar. These kind friendly animals are rapidly hunted down for cheap economic benefits in illegal markets. The rapid encroachment of anthropogenic activities has caused shrinking their natural habitats. Our ungratefulness has many consequences. Unless, the guilt sinks in, the journey forward for them is very uncertain.

The “Blue” Sky

Clear blue skies bring the voice of optimism. The sun rays refracted and scattered by the suspended molecules in air color the sky above us in blue and violet light which accentuates the lower end of the visible spectrum. For the optimists, a clear sky reminds us the sky's the limit. The fascinating shades of blue reignites the fuel that drives living souls. The constantly moving clouds shaped like swollen cotton provides a nice contrast to the blue background. The nature's contrasts reflect in the human souls too. Sometimes, the moving clouds block the sun rays castigating the positive minds. Sometimes, they float away exposing the sun. The eternal cycles of nature are relevant.

The frequent blows of rafts disturb the tranquility of the water surface. The tremors created by the external force, causes the change of the status quo. The sudden unexpected external impacts create tremors in our life. Like the water droplets bounced by the frequent blows of rafts follow the laws of gravitation and return to the status-quo, after the moments of unanticipated excitement the tranquility and peace again restores. Relationships of nature

Limestone caves are topographic features found in tropical and equatorial regions characterized by high frequency of rainfall. The forces of nature evolute the topographic features found on the Earth surface authenticating its authority and control. The drooping water through porous limestone has caused the accumulation of calcium salts for centuries designing the land form feature Stalactite. Centuries of land form evolution will continue until the Stalactites meet Stalagmite in order to form helictites creating a match made in heaven. These developing relationships will one day find their happy endings as the structure will become more resolute and withstanding with the course of time owing to the natural forces.

Curious

The curious set of eyes is looking for freedom. The primordial urge of roaming free, jumping from one branch of the tree to another lies rampant. The external surroundings although don't allow them to be expressive. The traps and cages we have set up for them to glorify our predecessors is nothing but unfortunate. What guarantee there is that the more evolved species in the near future will not make a laughing stock out of us? I guess that would be proper retribution.

Soaked

Toughest times precede the pleasant ones. The intense Sun drops below the horizon. Grasses finally find a sigh of relief as the temperature cools down. The suspended air molecules on the atmosphere condense to form water droplets that touch the grasses following the rules of Gravity. The lingering water droplets rejuvenate the dry grasses and prepare it for another day of photosynthesis. Nothing can escape the inevitable cycle of Nature.

Disguised

Only the fittest who find a way beneath the atrocities can survive. The defense mechanism inherent within every species we look at is the consequence of eternal process of evolution.
Camouflaged into the sand, this species has developed a defense mechanism that has allowed them to sustain in this competitive universe. Their unnoticed unannounced presence around the hegemony of humankind speaks for itself.

A wanderer

Freedom is such an important component for any species. Barring humankind, no other species have been able to explore new realms of liberty. Governed by environmental determinism these species have thrived in close proximity to nature following the natural cycles. They have found their freedom amidst all the limitations imposed by nature. The reciprocity of their relation provides a different edge to the humanly definition of freedom. If that does not arise questions about our nature of reality then what will?

Packed like sardines

Serenely enigmatic blue waters and the backdrop of crystal clear skies decorated by clusters.
What more do we need to incentivize and encourage a generation of explorers to explore the unexplored, know the unknown?
Reaching the horizon riding on the boats to find a new horizon is such a revolutionary thought. What more do we need to keep the child with umpteen curiosity alive within us?
I guess there is no right answer. The answer lies in our subjectivities waiting to be explored again and again.
