This cartoon was drawn during the week long 2014 Cartoonists' Club Convention in Malta. There were different themes every day but I can't remember what this particular theme was... perhaps 'animals' or 'vegetables'? Drawn with pen, ink and watercolour but I've digitally re-written the speech balloon to make it clearer.

Here's a cartoon from 2019, drawn for an exhibition at Herne Bay Cartoon Festival on the theme of 'Space'. I also drew a big board version of it on the pier at the same event.

Hey folks, here's an update that applies to this page too.

Hi folks! It's been a while since my last post - apologies for the lack of cartoons or updates. I moved house a month ago, and the time before and after has been hectic to say the least, with the pandemic and lockdown making the whole process a fairly testing time. Still, we're finally here and hopefully I can get back to semi regular posting. I had hoped to get a shop up and running by now, but the move set everything back. Will do my best to get something sorted.

Today's Doodle Zone was one I drew in 2018 for the Herne Bay Cartoon Festival. It's not what I would deem a rib tickler, more a 'makes you think' cartoon. (That's my excuse for it not being very funny!)

The theme of the festival was 'turning the tide' and I was asked to come up with a design for one of those seaside attractions where you stick your head through the hole and have you picture taken (some people call them peep boards?). I came up with this, painted it in the blistering hot sun on the pier, and it went down well on the day. I decided to draw the image up as a finished cartoon which is what you see here. If anyone's interested, I do make prints of this cartoon - £20 plus postage. Message me if interested.

Here's an oddity from 2012. I remember walking down my local high street and thinking the wording of this sign was ripe for cartooning. I took a photo and came up with this. Had planned to do a whole series of them but never got round to it. Maybe worth revisiting in the future?
