Continuing my Decan Walk ~ Ta**us II
Decan: 10°-19° Ta**us ♉︎
Dates 2024: 30 April – 10 May
Ruling planet/luminary: Luna 🌖
Zodiac sign : Ta**us ~ Fixed Earth 🜃
Tarot card: 6 of Pentacles ⍟⍟⍟⍟⍟⍟
Golden Dawn Title: Lord of Material Success
Associated Major Arcana:
The High Priestess 🌙 (Moon) & The Hierophant 🗝️(Ta**us)
Giving & receiving ~ without judgement 🧡
The Moon is exalted in Ta**us 🙌 she is at home in this house, the house of money earned, one of the two houses of Venus ♀︎ That the Moon is so comfortable in Ta**us is suggestive of emotional security and it is from a place of emotional security that we are more able to truly can give and receive – without judgement.
Which reminds me of a quote by Brené Brown:
“Until we can receive with an open heart, we’re never really giving with an open heart. When we attach judgment to receiving help, we knowingly or unknowingly attach judgment to giving help.”
~ Brené Brown, The Gifts of Imperfection
I usually associate this quote with the 5 of Pentacles, and the idea that when you overcome the judgment that you place on yourself, when asking for and receiving help, you are then more able to truly enter into the true spirit of the six pentacles ~ giving with and open heart.

Tarot card: 5 of Pentacles ✪✪✪✪✪
Golden Dawn Title: Lord of Material Trouble
Associated Major Arcana:
The Magician (Mercury) & The Hierophant (Ta**us)
Four Decans in to our journey, and we hit our first rough patch on the path. Moving from the warmth and light of the 4 of Wands (Aries III) into the cold and dark of the 5 of Pentacles feels a bit harsh.
And the truth is I'm finding it a little hard to distill my thoughts in to a snappy facebook post... a cop out I know, but for some reason I am feeling a little exposed by it all today. You can, of course, find all the words in the blog post ↓ link below.
I'm sharing cards related to Ta**us I and 5 of Pentacles from one of my absolute favourite decks by Carrie Mallon and Annie Ruygt Illustration which contains my favourite of all Hierophant cards. And now I see these cards as a group, representing the first face of Ta**us, I am reminded again how beautifully they work together in this deck 🙌 perhaps that's all I need to say today.
I have been studying Astrology with the brilliant, beautiful Sinead Fine, founder of Tarot for Women, and I have absolutely loved it 🙌
Now I can confidently pick up a birth chart, understand what I am looking at and gain some insight and guidance from it.
☀️🌙🌅
Sinead is starting her next Introduction to Astrology classes May 5th! Want to join her? She is offering 18 places but already 6 have already been taken. Don’t miss this chance!

Continuing my Decan Walk 24/25
Decan: 20°-29° Aries III
Dates 2024: 10 April – 19 April
Ruling planet/luminary: Venus ♀︎
Zodiac sign : Aries ♈︎ ~ Cardinal Fire
Tarot card: 4 of Wands ~ Lord of Perfected Work
Associated Major Arcana:
The Empress (Venus) & The Emperor IV (Aries)
When you bring the Venusian Empress ♀︎ together with the Aries Emperor ♂︎ and the 4 of Wands, the focus is bound to shift to love, s*x, relationships, children, partnerships of any kind, and the stability, joy and cause for celebration that they bring.
On a very personal note, I am a 53yo single mum to a bright, beautiful and wilful teenager who just happens to have been born with her Sun in Aries III. Happy Birthday today, my little Firestarter 🔥🧡 my Princess of Wands 🐅
So, I am a truly, happily single woman with a Libra Sun – I find great contentment in my own company, yet harmonious, balanced relationships are essential for my wellbeing. I can't enjoy one without the other.
When I read for myself I often see the 4 of Wands, especially if it turns up with strong, independent 9 of Pentacles (Venus in Virgo), as an opportunity to acknowledge where I am and how I got here and particularly to celebrate my motherhood, with all the precious moments, challenges and milestones it brings.
I also take it as a moment to celebrate my independence and freedom – which I am learning is absolutely sacred me.
And I acknowledge with so much gratitude the important relationships I hold dear, especially with all the weird and wonderful women in my life 🫶
🧡 What have you achieved that you are proud of?
🧡 What relationships are you grateful for?
🧡 How do you celebrate them and yourself?
If Aries I, and the 2 of Wands, represents the planting of a seed (the seed of a new idea, plan, relationship, phase), and this seems appropriately ph***ic for Mars in Aries, then Aries II, the 3 of Wands, might well represent the energy and mindset required to produce and sustain growth. Maintain momentum.
☀️♈︎
That Sun energy is the energy that you have to put into something new to make sure it progresses, the next steps that you must take on your path – to nurture it, give it warmth, light and your direct focus. ‘Where your attention goes, energy flows…’ and all that.
🌿
I also see the 3 of Wands as less of a ‘show of strength’ (Mars) and more a ‘show of confidence’ (Sun). Confidence in the future. Confidence in self. Confidence in your leadership and vision.
"... and the hidden power of the muse’s kiss is that as you follow your bliss"
"Rumi said, “There is a kiss we ache for with our whole lives: the touch of Spirit on the body.” And now is the time to honor that sacred connection. Indulge your wonder, your awe, your passion. Let yourself be kissed by the muse, falling madly in love with what inspires you. Inspiration literally means “to breathe in” and the hidden power of the muse’s kiss is that as you follow your bliss, it passes on the breath of permission to others who observe your passion. In this way, this kiss of deep joy is contagious. It’s time to start an epidemic of passion and freedom. Let it begin with you!"

Hahaha! Every. Morning. And you know that cat is kneading that poor wench's bladder... which also has yet to be emptied.
Queens, Princesses, Goddesses, Priestesses. Happy International Women’s Day ✊
Ha!
“It’s just that you’re not that feminine.”
I beg to differ.
I’m feminine like a thunderstorm.
Feminine like the glint of a falcon talon.
Feminine like an ancient redwood.
Feminine like the orange glow of a grizzly bear in the sunset.
Feminine like a wolf on the hunt.
Feminine like decaying bones.
Feminine like the eye of an old whale.
Feminine like a roaring river.
Feminine like a sheer cliff overlooking a forest.
Feminine like a wildfire.
Feminine like a desert wind.
Feminine like a battle cry.
And yes.
Within my stones and bark and fur and fierce slit irises... I am as soft and enveloping as any woman who’s blood ever beat red.
This is the Sovereigness.
I am her.
We are her.
We are an age of woman who has come in, representing the medicine of the Wilds.
We are not built to actualize your sense of masculinity through your traditional idea of femininity.
We are built to bring in the voice of our Mother.
Which is why Earth herself screams in our veins.
So, if what you really mean is,
“Your femininity is overwhelming”,
Then I understand.
It is to me, too.

"The womb has 13 menstruations a year.
The womb ovulates on the 13th day.
So life is created within the 13 portal."
💡
This has given me a new perspective on the Death card numbered 13 in the Tarot's Major Arcana. Every month a shedding. Unless new life has begun...
The womb has 13 menstruations a year.
The womb ovulates on the 13th day.
So life is created within the 13 portal.
For thousands of years in many cultures, priestesses of the sacred rose have sat in circles of 12, with the 13th being the teacher guide.
The womb is the sacred rose
Every woman holds the sacred rose.
In 1487 Henrich Kramer labelled this divine feminine energy as witchcraft, heresy & evil. 13, power number of creation of life itself, the number of the womb, became a sign of the devil and an unlucky number. Hatred for feminine power took to extreme lengths as so very many women were murdered, tortured and burnt at the stake.
Now we reverse this.
We reclaim our sacred power.
We are not men, we are women, we are wombs, we bleed in cycles and we honour and celebrate this.
We do not plug up and numb out with ‘why rest when you can carry on’ slogans.
We do rest.
We do listen.
We do honour what womb wants.
We awaken.
Together.
We reclaim the 13.
We reclaim our sacred womb spaces (whether we have had our womb removed or not, all women have womb spaces)
We remember the beauty and power of our sacred rose
We listen within as she rises
She will tell us what she wants
Let her guide you
How will you bring back her power within you?
Together, we are now re-entering the time of the sacred rose.

The destructive quality of the Tower can feel frightening when it appears... but some ideas, constructs, edifices, institutions, and people even, do indeed need to be brought down, don’t they? Sometimes it’s ok to say ‘let it burn’.
The Tower ~ let it burn • Still Small Voice Tarot The Tower has destructive qualities. But, some ideas, constructs, edifices, institutions, and people even, do indeed need to be brought down, don't they? Sometimes it's ok to say 'let it burn'.
I'm doing some work with the Tower XVI card... and the last line of this poem gave me a new perspective "find the truth, eat the fruit, unmask the myth, let it burn". If the house or the Tower in question is the patriarchy... let. it. burn. 🔥
Fear the Tower, not it's destruction.
"when they want to
control you
they do not come
with shackles
made of iron
they come instead
with cages made
of shame. rise, woman
rise again
for you are
Persephone’s Daughter
Lilith’s lover
Eve’s heir
find the truth
eat the fruit
unmask the myth
let it burn"

‘Why Still Small Voice Tarot? I love it, but what does it mean? You don’t really explain.’
This was a recent question from a friend of mine who, having had a look at my website, prompted me to explain.
No surprises here, (TLDR) the Still Small Voice in me is the voice of my intuition... but there is a more interesting backstory, if you are interested.

“Life will break you.
Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won't either, for solitude will also break you with its yearning. You have to love.
You have to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth.
You are here to risk your heart.
You are here to be swallowed up.
And when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness.
Tell yourself you tasted as many as you could.”

“Long before God the Father, there she was – God the Mother. Where did she vanish to, this great mother goddess? How did we women become so completely dispossessed?
It wasn’t that I wanted to replace a male god with a female god; it wasn’t that I wanted to find a religion at all. I was simply looking for some sense that women might have worth.
And I found it: there in the old stories of my own native land, I found it.
Filled with images of women creating, women weaving the world into being, I took up knitting. Thread by thread, stitch by stitch, I began to knit myself back into being.
I had never thought of myself as being a particularly creative soul, but I discovered that creativity was a wide-ranging affair. I simply thought about what brought me joy, and I began to cultivate it.
I dug my hands into this strange foreign soil, and I began to grow things. I began to reacquaint myself with the soft animal object that was my body. Slowly, spending more and more time outside, focusing on the wisdom of my senses rather than on what was going on inside my head, I began to weave myself back into the fabric of the Earth.”

I don’t think you’re simply tired,
I think you’re regenerating.
Like all of mother nature’s children in winter, your instinct is to curl up, hunker down and reset.
You’re not less.
You’re simply in tune with the sun.
And as the dark days begin to wane, your inner wild fortifies and evolves, bolstered and renewed, cocoon-style.
Ready for the new beginnings, ready for the reinvent.
Ready.
Simply ready.
So, let yourself be led down the rabbit hole, when the weariness washes over and your body begs to rest.
I don’t think you’re simply tired.
I think you’re regenerating.

4 of Swords vibes 🗡🗡🗡🗡 rest and restoration.
"In the silence of winter, we are invited to evaluate how we want to use our precious life force. Take the time to look inside your heart. It's your heart that carries the instructions from your Soul and always knows what you most desire in life-what you most deeply wish to experience and to share. What we love most should inform
what we do and how we do it. Winter is a perfect time for investigation and reconnection."

“The archetype of the Witch is long overdue for celebration. Witches have power on their own terms. They have agency. They create. They praise. They commune with nature, Spirit/Goddess/God, freely, and free of any mediator. But most importantly: they make things happen. The best definition of magic I’ve been able to come up with is “symbolic action with intent" — “action" being the operative word. Witches are midwives to metamorphosis. They are magical women, and they, quite literally, can change the world.”

Kitty Tarotpaws 🐈🐾 joins me as I settle down to some light Saturday morning tarot research and contemplate a big old tarot conundrum for new year 2024… (2+0+2+4=8) is it a Strength 🦁 year or a Justice ⚖️ year?
💭
I suspect that my darling cat would go with with Strength VIII… she is a Leo ♌️ after all. I also suspect her interest in this is mostly motivated by a desire to find a warm spot for her first morning nap 💤
And generally I too tend to go with the RWS numbering for the Major Arcana - unless I am using my Thoth deck for a reading - assigning Strength to the number 8. More on all this later I think…
~
Book: The Tarot Handbook by Angeles Arrien. A brilliant guide for anyone studying the Thoth deck.
I wish you all strength and compassion as well as justice and harmony in 2024 🫶
I lied and said I was busy.
I was busy;
but not in a way most people understand.
~
I was busy taking deeper breaths.
I was busy silencing irrational thoughts.
I was busy calming a racing heart.
I was busy telling myself I am okay.
~
Sometimes, this is my busy –
and I will not apologize for it.

The Fool is not afraid of failure or of the new and unknown.
♅
And while she may often find herself starting from scratch, that does not necessarily mean going back to ‘square one’ again.
♅
She tries a thing and it doesn’t work? So she tries another thing, and another, bringing what she has learned with her.
♅
Ever open to all the possibilities… inside and outside the 'box'.
♅
Even in the face of what may seem like insurmountable obstacles... there is a way 💫
♅
This Fool has been stalking me for days... I'm going to follow her into the blue and trust that there is a way. How about you?

About the reemergence of the Goddess in contemporary culture... yes.
“To name God in oneself, or to speak the word 'Goddess' again after many centuries of silence is to reverse age-old patterns of thinking in which male power and female subordination are viewed as the norm.
Though Goddess has yet to become a familiar name, the word is being spoken more and more often. And many women feel chills of recognition as they hear the word, which names the legitimacy and beneficence of female power.
The reemergence of the Goddess in contemporary culture gathers together many of the themes of women’s spiritual quest. It is a new naming of women’s power, women’s bodies, women’s feelings of connection to nature, and women’s bonds with each other.”

As a teenager poring over the cards at my best friend’s kitchen table, we tended to skip over cards like the 8 of Pentacles.
✪
Where’s the glamour? Where’s the romance? Give me the 9 of Cups or The Lovers, even the 3 of Swords and some drama any day.
✪
Now, it’s a completely different story. I love this card when it appears in a reading or a daily pull, reminding me to keep showing up every day to do the work. To focus on and to find joy in the details and to let the big picture take care of itself. To surrender to the process and let the rest unfold.
✪
The astrological reference for this card is the Sun in Virgo ☉♍︎ ~ the 1st decan of Virgo ~ I take this to mean literally pouring all your energy (Sun) into perfecting the details (Virgo).
✪
Where do you need to focus your energy right now?
I 'stumbled across' an old Tarot Journal from August 2021 and opened it at random on a page with a deck interview with Lacey Bryant’s The Slow Tarot. I can remember hardly being able to wait for it to arrive from the States – it was a bit of an investment. I love this deck...
Anyway, enough preamble, here’s the ‘interview’ from my journal.
Looking back ~ Deck interview with The Slow Tarot • Still Small Voice Tarot Stumbled upon: Deck interview with Lacey Bryant's The Slow Tarot taken from an old Tarot journal August 2021. With added hindsight observations.
We experience the energy of the 2 of Wands when are in the early stages of a project. Ideas are formed, plans are being laid down and the next step, when we are ready is to put those plans into action.

Express yourself ♡
the next time
you refuse to sing
because you’ll never
fill a stadium
or decline the joy of dance
for fear of looking
ridiculous
or you resist risking
the new adventure
because you’re
not entirely ready or
you dim your shine
because you’re not
completely healed and whole
the next time
you hold yourself suspect
because you’re not

just remember
a bird doesn’t sing
because it’s talented
a bird sings because
it has a song
the moon doesn’t only shine
when it’s whole
it can show up with

show up. sing. shine.
