What stories await me in 2024? 🧑‍🎨🌎

As a conceptual abstract painter, every artwork begins with pen and paper. I write stories based on my own experiences—moments that moved me, that I enjoyed, and from which I’ve learned. In this way, each artwork becomes a piece of myself.

Yet, I also paint abstractly, as this form of art allows wonderfully open interpretation for you as the viewer. You can see your own story in the creations, making the artwork a part of your own narrative.

So, let’s be excited about what we will experience this year! 🔥

What an stirring and tumultuous year!

Being an independent artist and boutique owner has brought so many joyful and fulfilling aspects!

I’ve viewed it as a vast playground for my creative ideas. Just what I always need: room for trial and error. Making mistakes to quickly learn and find the right path for a functional model.
Among the three crucial pillars of entrepreneurship, product, team, and market, the art market became a construct directly affected by economic developments for emerging artists in 2023. The market restraint, coupled with the distressing global conflicts, dampened my initially positive outlook.
While I couldn’t directly combat global distress, the struggling art market presented an opportunity for new approaches. I experimented with reaching art enthusiasts through personalized approaches, not only online but also offline. With great effort, success returned!

Looking through the small window into 2024, the outlook is much more positive. There’s hope for a more peaceful world!

2023. 🎨🧑‍🎨📉📈

My first full year as an artist is coming to an end! 

What a journey?! I not only found great fulfillment in my work as an artist but also had the opportunity to meet many amazing new people. New clients, fellow companions at exhibitions, other artists, and guests at my events.

Today, I want to thank you all for the entire support! It’s only with your support that I can pursue this creative profession.
Living solely from art isn’t always easy, but it’s incredibly fulfilling to contribute to making people feel at home.

I’m excited about 2024 and look forward to many creative experiences!

This art market... Surprisingly, for both of us, we've discovered that the art market isn't necessarily characterized by strong camaraderie and mutual support.

Instead, there's often a tendency to cast critical glances to the left and right and make quick judgments based on superficial information.
It's a pity because there's so much that everyone involved can learn from each other. Especially in the early years of an artist's career, the art market can be a significant challenge. Those who can make a living solely from their art are already ahead of many others.

Our goal is to foster more exchange and support among creative individuals and promote a stronger sense of togetherness. So, why not have more "WE" instead of "YOU" and "I"? ❤️

For anyone who picks up the book "An den Ufern der Seine“ by Agnès Poirier, they'll understand the energies that were unleashed among the old masters in the Paris of the 1940s and 1950s through unity and exchange.

Studio Days. 🎨

Today, the profession of an artist encompasses an incredible number of tasks if you want to make a living from it full-time! 🌈

You are an event manager, marketing manager, sales manager, graphic designer, content creator, and financial accountant.

But, most of all, you still want to be an artist, create and spend time in the studio. Because it's this passion that led us to choose this job!

On September 5th, the day finally arrived, and Valentin and I were able to celebrate our first joint exhibition at Stilwerk in Hamburg. What unites us is that both of us decided to focus on art nearly a year ago. We share the courage to take a leap of faith and risk it all for what we love: art!

Together, we've created collaborative artworks that reflect our journey towards becoming full-time artists and convey our emotions along the way. One thing we also have in common is that in our works, you may find challenges and problems, but we are optimists, and there is always a way out!

The vernissage left us absolutely stunned! Not only because it involved a lot of effort and had us breaking a sweat, but more so because we received incredible support from our helpers and saw super happy faces among our guests. Even days after the vernissage, it continues to make us extremely happy!

You have motivated us to keep walking the sometimes rocky path and continue pursuing our dreams, bringing us closer to them every step of the way!

When founding a company, there is always complexity regarding the distribution of shares. Which party contributes what input in the form of capital, expertise, resources, or network to the company, and which value carries more weight?!

An imbalance among the shareholders naturally brings potential for conflict, especially when all founders are also operationally involved. A significant imbalance or a shift in decision-making power often leads to disagreements and, in the worst case, can result in a separation.

However, such a separation frequently becomes fertile ground for a creative new beginning in a new configuration. My own learnings from the past years definitely highlight that not only a balanced distribution of shares within the founding teams plays a crucial role in the motivation and success of the company, but also that key individuals in the team should absolutely have a stake in the company. 👩‍👩‍👧‍👦

If you have ideas and inspiration, you should continuously reinvent yourself and pursue your passions in order to find your perfect professional situation. ❤️

With each positive or negative experience, you learn and become better at assessing how you can contribute ideally! 🏄🏼‍♂️

1 Year - Atelier 21 🏄🏼‍♂️

Time is flying! A year ago, I opened Atelier 21.
The idea was to establish a new concept in Hamburg-Winterhude. It wasn't meant to be just a traditional gallery; it would be a concept store and a meeting place for creative minds.
From art & design, we evolved into art & fashion. In February 2023, I found the perfect match for the concept with the sustainable fashion label Narah Soleigh. .soleigh Together, we are passionately curating the boutique and regularly hosting events in the storefront and the shelter in the backyard.

I believe we have slowly established ourselves and have gained insight into what it takes to build an offline business. It's not as simple, especially since the three of us are all experts in online marketing but had not much experiences about offline businesses. 🏠

I'm eagerly anticipating what the coming months have in store for us! 🚀

It appears that I not only use my hands for painting but also enjoy using them while telling a story. 😂

A view of the sea is better for me than any meditation app. The refreshing water always has different shades of color, different forms, and is the basis for our existence as humans. An elixir that can be so vastly different: the sea can be calm like a lake at times, and at other times wild and intimidating, such that one remembers the power of its currents for a long time.

Whether it's kitesurfing, surfing, or sailing - the wild sea has always attracted me and made me go overboard until I received a reminder of my recklessness and the water showed me its incredible strength. 🌊🚀

The respect remains, the fascination will only grow stronger, and there will surely be more risky water maneuvers in my future. 🏄🏼‍♂️

Perhaps in old age, I should simply focus on a fishing rod and catch a few silver shimmering fish from the waves... 🎣

What a fantastic vibe!
Despite the somewhat lousy weather forecast, the sun didn't entirely let us down, and we were able to use the outdoor area of our store with over 300 guests. We are incredibly grateful that all of you came and spent the day with us! 😊

Something truly extraordinary was brought in by the performance art duo, !
Besides the performance with the VR goggles, the live painting of a person was an entirely new experience for me and was incredibly enjoyable.

Once again into the water before darkness fully sets in. Moonlight still offers some light, revealing the silhouettes of a few surfers and beachgoers.
The water now has a soothing effect while simultaneously emitting something ominous that could transform into something dangerous at any moment.

Humans are so small, whereas nature is much grander.
And it should remain that way! Respect for the environment forms the foundation of our existence. Nothing exemplifies this better for me than the feeling of being surrounded by waves in the sea. One can never get enough of it and yet still holds great respect for the power of the deep blue water. Tides, currents, towering waves can bring us to our knees at any time.

Therefore, I couldn't do without the sea for long. It's likely the same for you too, isn't it?!

MILLERNTOR GALLERY 🎨

The Millerntor Gallery was once again a major highlight in my art calendar this year and brought a big smile to my face! 😊

With "Making Waves," the event touched on a very important theme, advocating for a collective process of change for the environment. 🌊
Countless outstanding artists and musicians participated, and thousands of visitors gathered at St. Pauli Stadium, which provided an incredible atmosphere. Additionally, there were numerous fantastic volunteers whose support was instrumental in making this event possible.

Many thanks to the entire Millerntor Gallery and Viva Con Agua team for organizing this fantastic event and providing me with the opportunity to showcase my art. 🥰

In the past two months, I had the opportunity to exhibit my art at a really special place! 😊

The Elbhof in Kollmar is not just a pretty magical and wonderful place, but also a perfect spot for art. The contrast between a centuries-old farmhouse and contemporary art is, to me, a perfect match and something completely different.

Sometimes you have to turn everything upside down! 🌋

Question everything, and if in doubt, be ready to change everything and initiate a restart. 🏎️

It is normal that startup business models often turn 180 degrees in the first five years to find a successful path. If the market has potential and the team is well-composed, this represents a maturing process and is not an obstacle.

So, don’t be afraid of radical change, even if the original idea you loved has to be thrown overboard! 🚀
The team grows with the change, and a very dynamic, constantly reinventing process can be established.
