Excited about the future of City Hall and the City of Los Angeles. Next week we will welcome a new mayor, city attorney, city controller, and six new council members. It's time for new vision and a new way forward. It's also a great time to get civically engaged/involved.

Los Angeles, it's time to VOTE tomorrow, Tues., May 21.
Vote Eric Garcetti for LA Mayor and
Mitch O'Farrell for LA City Council, District 13.
It's time for a new beginning in Los Angeles. Let's make it happen!

15/03/2013

May we be so busy improving our city that we have scarce little time to point out its faults or the faults of others.

15/03/2013

I have had detailed conversations with the two remaining CD13 candidates, Mitch O'Farrell and John Choi. I congratulate them for their success in primary election and wish them luck in the May 21 runoff.

Question to my previous supporters: Who do you plan to support for this seat?

06/03/2013

Dear Friends,

The results are in -- we came in 4th out of 12 candidates. Although we are disappointed, I am so proud of the support we earned from the community. I received countless phone calls, text messages, and emails over the past few days from people who were inspired by our campaign. The consensus of our campaign support can be summed up with this messages I received this morning: “You reminded this jaded voter that there are people out there who are sincere in their desires to contribute and to lead.”

Some campaigns use the term “grassroots” as a marketing tool. But our campaign truly was grassroots. We had a team of young people in our campaign office night and day over the past month with a passion to make positive change in our city. I am humbled and honored by their efforts. We used creative techniques to inspire people to get involved. We feel we did things differently, creatively, and we did it all with dignity.

I thank everyone who supported, voted, encouraged, “liked”, and ReTweeted our campaign over the past year. It was a great journey. We learned so much about the needs of our city and district. I am impassioned now more than ever to move forward and contribute to my community in a positive way.

One thing is also clear. We MUST encourage our neighbors to get more involved in the governing of our city. With only 3158 votes, a person now has an opportunity to advocate for 260,000 residents in our district. Democracy demands more.

Thank you all!

Woman Suffrage Parade of 1913 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

100 years ago today, March 3, 1913, a brave band of women marched down Pennsylvania Ave, demanding their right to vote. The Nineteenth Amendment gave every American woman full voting rights in 1920, it ended a 72-year struggle by three generations and millions of women. Today we honor them.
