HYMN OF PRAISE, "Come Ye Disconsolate," Sis. Samara Smith

RESPONSIVE READING – 3rd Sunday Morning in Epiphany – II Corinthians 4:1-6 (NKJV) (below)

II CORINTHIANS 4:1-6 (NKJV)

1 Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we do not lose heart.

2 But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.

3 But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing,

4 Whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.

5 For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake.

6 For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

THE GLORIA PATRI

THE AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (The Apostles’ Creed)

PASTORAL PRAYER – Rev. Emanuel A. Smith, Jr.

SCRIPTURE LESSON: 2 Corinthians 1:3-7 (KJV) Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.
And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.
And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation.

2022-23 Conference Year Theme: “Launch Out Into the Deep”
July 10th, 2022 – 10:30a.m. Service
6th Sunday Morning After Pentecost

 PENTECOST CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: But the hour cometh, and now is,
People: When the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth:

People: God is a Spirit:
All: And they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.

 HYMN OF PRAISE, "I Am Thine, Oh Lord"

 RESPONSIVE READING – 6th Sunday Morning After Pentecost – Acts 18:24-28; 19:1-6 (NKJV) (below)

ACTS 18:24-28; 19:1-6 (NKJV)

24 Now a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man and mighty in the Scriptures, came to Ephesus.

25 This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things of the Lord, though he knew only the baptism of John.

26 So he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Aquila and Priscilla heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately.

27 And when he desired to cross to Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him; and when he arrived, he greatly helped those who had believed through grace;

28 for he vigorously refuted the Jews publicly, showing from the Scriptures that Jesus is the Christ.

1 And it happened, while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, having passed through the upper regions, came to Ephesus. And finding some disciples

2 he said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” So they said to him, “We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.”

3 And he said to them, “Into what then were you baptized?” So they said, “Into John’s baptism.”

4 Then Paul said, “John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.”

5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

6 And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.

If anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and he is the propitiation (atoning sacrifice) for our sins; and not for ours only, but for the sins of the whole world. Wherefore you that do truly and earnestly repent of your sins, and are in love and harmony with your neighbors, and intend to lead a new life, following the commandments of God, and walking from henceforth in his holy way, draw near with faith, and take the Holy Sacrament to your comfort and worship our God in spirit and in truth.

People
Almighty God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, maker of all things, judge of all men, we acknowledge and bewail our manifold sins and wickedness, which we from time to time most grievously have committed, by thought, word, and deed, against your Divine Majesty, provoking most justly your wrath and indignation against us. We do earnestly repent, and are heartily sorry for these our misdoings; the remembrance of them is grievous unto us. Have mercy upon us, have mercy upon us, most merciful Father; for your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, forgive us all that is past; and grant that we may ever hereafter serve and please you in the newness of life to the honor and glory of your name, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Invitation to Discipleship

Leader – Rev. Emanuel A. Smith, Jr.
We do not presume to come to this your holy table, O merciful Lord trusting in our own righteousness, but in your manifold and great mercies. We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under your table, but you are the same Lord, whose property is to always have mercy; grant us therefore, gracious Lord, so to eat the flesh of your dear Son, Jesus Christ and to drink his blood, that we may live and grow thereby, and that, being washed through his most precious blood we may evermore dwell in him, and he in us. Amen

Leader – Rev. Emanuel A. Smith, Jr.
Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, who of your tender mercy did give your only Son Jesus Christ to suffer death upon the cross for our redemption; who made there, by giving of himself once, for all time, a full perfect, and sufficient sacrifice, offering, and satisfaction for the sins of the whole world; and did institute, and in his holy Gospel command us to continue, a perpetual memory of his precious death until his coming again; hear us, O merciful Father we humbly beg you and grant that we receiving Jesus Christ’s holy institution, in remembrance of his death and passion; may be partakers of his most blessed body and blood, who, in the same night he was betrayed, took bread. And when he had given thanks he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take, eat: this is my body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of me. Likewise, after supper, he took the cup; and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them saying, drink all of this, for this is my blood of the new Testament (covenant), which is shed for you, and for many, for the remission (pardoning) of sins; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me. Amen

People
It is very meet, right, and our bounden duty, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto Thee, O Lord, holy Father, Almighty, everlasting God. Therefore, with angels and archangels, and all the company of Heaven, we laud and magnify Thy glorious name, evermore praising Thee, and saying, Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of hosts, heaven and earth are full of Thy glory. Glory be to Thee, O Lord, most high.

Administration of the Elements

All
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen

Leader – Rev. Emanuel A. Smith, Jr.
O Lord, our heavenly Father, we your humble servants desire your fatherly goodness mercifully to accept this our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving; most humbly asking you to grant that, by the merits and death of your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ and through faith in His blood we and your whole Church may obtain the forgiveness of our sins, and all other benefits of His passion. And we offer and present unto you, O Lord, our souls and bodies, to be a reasonable, holy and living sacrifice; humbly asking you that all, who are partakers of this holy communion may be filled with your grace and heavenly benediction. And although we are unworthy, through our many sins, to offer unto you any sacrifice, yet we ask you to accept this as our obligation to ministry and service; not weighing our merits, but pardoning our offenses, through Jesus Christ our Lord; by whom, and with whom, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, all honor and glory be unto you, O Father Almighty, world without end. Amen

All
Glory be to God on high, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men! We praise You, we bless You, we worship You, we glorify You, we give thanks to You for Your great glory, O Lord God, heavenly King, God the Father Almighty! Oh, Lord, the only begotten Son Jesus Christ; O Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you that takes away the sins of the world, have mercy upon us. You who takes away the sins of the world, have mercy upon us. You who takes away the sins of the world, receive our prayer. You who sit at the right hand of God the Father, have mercy upon us. For you only art holy; you only art the Lord; you only, O Christ, with the Holy Ghost, are most high in the glory of God the Father. Amen

~~~~~~~~~~~
ACTS 8:26-35 (NKJV)
26 Now an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, “Arise and go toward the south along the road which goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” This is desert.
27 So he arose and went. And behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eu**ch of great authority under Candace the queen of the Ethiopians, who had charge of all her treasury, and had come to Jerusalem to worship,
28 Was returning. And sitting in his chariot, he was reading Isaiah the prophet.
29 Then the Spirit said to Philip, “Go near and overtake this chariot.”
30 So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?”
31 And he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” And he asked Philip to come up and sit with him.
32 The place in the Scripture which he read was this: “He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and as a lamb before its shearer is silent, so He opened not His mouth.
33 In His humiliation His justice was taken away, and who will declare His generation? For His life is taken from the earth.”
34 So the eu**ch answered Philip and said, “I ask you, of whom does the prophet say this, of himself or of some other man?”
35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him
