The rebuild of this old barn roof has been very satisfying. From our 3D model...to Beautiful oak trusses hand-cut on site using locally sourced timber, and modern structural 6" rafters are used to allow for insulation at a later stage -- if planning permission is sought for a conversion. The traditional design of the trusses, common to this geographical area, has been used. Gorgeous natural stone roof finish!, the conservation roof lights don't seem to spoil the look too badly, and they'll help show off the full internal pointing of the walls. When I'm finished with this barn it will be looking imaculate, and i reckon it would meet with the approval of the men who risked their lives building it some 200+ years ago. Full respect to the guys who originally built this, and the endurance it took to raise-a-barn without modern machinery....horses, carts and hobnail boots most likely. Work through all weathers, be a bad-ass, do the job to the highest standard possible....that's how I roll 👌, they worked hard & risked their necks, so we go forward in that spirit.

Here we go again. Full traditional roof coming soon. Putting this old barn back how it should be. Locally sourced oak trusses & purlins hand-crafted on site.

Lovely job, well pleased!. Nice departure from 'the norm'.

Great to do a conversion which is a bit different. Lightweight too, gets very good mileage.

Just got to finish back doors and it's complete.

SedoJac does it again 😎. An old barn rescued from the brink and fully restored. Going the extra distance to build something special.

This barn roof is now back to its former glory with a fully reinstated traditional oak structure overlaid by modern structural rafters, the new oak is visible inside the barn and the deep rafters allow for insulation to be added during conversion.

Having taken delivery of a weighty pile of sawn green oak timber, I set about the carpentry to hand-cut each new truss on-site. Once we had assembled the new green oak roof structure I fixed a structural ridge beam and fixed deep rafters to it. With some making-up of the walls we were ready for the breather membrane, battens and roof stones.

It's a big repair job on this tired old barn... a new roof, new openings and rebuild of gable wall should get this barn ready, then it's planning approvals & conversion. 👍

Before & After...A great lean-to agricultural outbuilding converted to fully insulated garage, with mains power, sewage, water, reinforced floor & beautiful hardwood doors. Fully pointed & structurally sound... Lovely job.

A superb kitchen is born! And also a clever & unsual stair case.

A few pics of our recent works completing a Barn Conversion. Some very clever storage solutions...with an Ensuite shower room behind the central bi-fold door! Very nice.

Proceeding with caution as we break the old floor out and excavate the new foundations. Hydraulic breakers are not a demolition option within this old barn!, the old dry stone walls are likely to collapse, so it's back to the sledge hammer method...old school. We break the concrete by hand and then carefully lift it out with the digger...

A very substantial floor has been laid! Great result. Now we can proceed to the installation of a structural steel mezzanine frame, which will help stabilise the walls of the old barn.

A great kitchen modernisation project! Out with the old...

Once the electrician has done his 2nd fix we'll be cooking on electric in this compact kitchen refurb, a nice modern energy-saving undersink water heater has got hot water production covered. A washer/dryer has got utility covered and the usual kitchen triangle of oven/hob, sink and fridge creates a nice working space. We even managed to squeeze in a couple of wooden stools, creating a nice breakfast area, great stuff.

We are making good progress on this Grade 2 Listed Barn Conversion Project. With substantial structural works required to stabilise the building, we are carefully bringing this historic building back from the brink of collapse. In the not too distant future this barn will be a fantastic 3 bedroom dwelling.

Fabulous Plumbing by our in-house specialist. This type of hot water cylinder provides mains pressure hot water, giving excellent flow rates. Once insulated they are also very efficient!
