Toners

What is a toner?
Toners are used post cleansing the face & before serums/moisturizer. It typically serves as a source of hydration & pH Balance post cleansing. This step is loved by many for refining pores , soothing irritated skin, exfoliation , & hydration

Hydrating toners : these add water & hydration into the skin. They are commonly filled with humectant & soothing ingredients such as hyaluronic acid , glycerin, vitamin B5 , & rose water ( to name a few) .this can be used by any skin type , but those with dry & dehydrated skin might find great benefits with use .

Exfoliating toners : these toners gently exfoliate the skin . These toners have AHAs, BHAs, or PHAs which can remove dead skin cells & clean pores to even out the surface of the skin .these are commonly used for treatment of dull skin , blemishes/ acne , & pigmentation.

Here's an easy men's skin care routine
1. Cleanse your skin twice a day
Never wash your face with soap bar
2. Using a face scurb
1 - 3 times a week after cleansing your face , depending on your skin type . Guys with oily - type skin can exfoliate thrice while men with sensitive/dry skin should do it less often
Before a shave , scrub the shave area . This discourages ingrown hairs & bumps .
3. Hydrate your skin - moisturize according to your skin type
Twice a day morning & night
4. Sunscreen
If your moisturizer has it then no need of a sunscreen in specific
Eye cream & anti -aging cream is also important & worth doing ,but if nothing else these are simple basic steps to follow

pores on face
causes:
Stress, genetics, aging, too much sun exposure, use of substandard skin products; hormonal changes during pregnancy, puberty, and menopause are some of the common causes
*mostly seen on oily skin type
*can never permanently vanish you can always decrease the size and minimize the appearance e
*can never permanently get rid off it cus its natural and totally normal to have it
you can always work on the size and minimize the appearance

effective ways to reduce the appearance of pores:
1. Choosing water-based products
If you have oily skin, ensure you are using products that are water-based. Using water-based products avoids extra oil getting into the pores.
A person with oily skin and large pores should avoid oil-based products. These may lead to excess oil on the skin, making pores appear larger.
2. Wash your face twice a day
3. Choosing gel-based cleansers
If you have oily skin and want to reduce the appearance of the pores use a gel based cleanser
A moisturizing cleanser may leave residue in the pores and increase oiliness. A gel-based cleanser helps to clear oil from the pores, reducing their appearance.
4.exfoliating : oily skin should exfoliate [be gentle with scrubs] once or twice a week. Will help to remove dirt, dead skin & excess oil from the pores that can block them.
Look for exfoliating products containing salicylic acid, which is a natural acid that helps to release debris from the pores.
It is important not to exfoliate more than twice a week, however. Exfoliating too frequently with products that contain salicylic acid or alcohol can dry out the skin.
Although exfoliation keeps the pores unclogged, they can look bigger if the skin becomes too dry.
5. Moisturizing daily
The idea of moisturizing oily skin may be counterintuitive. However, it can help to reduce pore enlargement.
Although moisturizing cleansers may clog the pores, in contrast, moisturizing lotions used after washing and patting the skin dry are beneficial.
This is because moisturizers hydrate and soften the skin. This allows the sebum to pe*****te deeper into the skin, rather than sit in the pores on the surface.
In this way, moisturizing prevents pores becoming clogged with oil, reducing their appearance
6. Applying a clay/for your skin type/concern mask
Using a mask once or twice a week can help to remove oil from the pores. This can prevent them from becoming enlarged, and reduce their appearance.
However, it is a good idea to do this same day as exfoliating.
7. Always removing makeup at night
It is essential to always remove makeup before going to sleep.
Sleeping with makeup on overnight can lead to a person’s pores becoming blocked. This is because makeup, oil, and bacteria build up in the pores.
8. Wearing sunscreen EVERYDAY
It is crucial to care for skin in the sun. If your skin becomes sun damaged, this can be very drying. When the skin is dry, pores may appear larger.

09/06/2020

what are face serums ?
* lightweight moisturizers that pe*****te deeper to deliver active ingredients into your skin.

know your ingredients first. If you're...
Acne-prone: Look for vitamin C (increases collagen production, enhances skin’s repair process, and reduces inflammation), retinol (also an antioxidant, reduces inflammation), zinc (soothes irritation, regulates oil production), and salicylic acid (unclogs pores).

Dry: Look for vitamin E (an antioxidant, protects cells from oxidative damage), niacinamide (improves skin elasticity, increases ceramide levels in skin), glycolic acid (gently exfoliates and lightens discoloration), and hyaluronic acid (retains moisture).

Feeling dull: Look for antioxidants like green tea extract, resveratrol, ferulic acid (these combat free radicals, increase effectiveness of sunscreen by day, and promote cellular repair and healing by night).

A word of caution: Because serums are super potent, more is not always better. Be careful before piling it on. Powerful ingredients can irritate sensitive skin. Always patch-test accordingly.

Q When do I apply a skincare serum?
A :You can use skincare serums at night, and during the day. In the daytime, if you've got dry skin, wash your face and pat it dry, then layer your skin with a serum that quenches the skin's thirst for nutrition, wait for a few minutes for it to settle down. Follow up with a moisturising sunscreen of your choice. If you can cleanse and rinse off this layer once in the afternoon, and reapply it, it would be ideal. For the night, try not to layer too much and instead let your skin breathe. Most night creams tend to be quite concentrated anyway, so either use them or a night serum not both. However, the key is not to overuse so don't apply it night and day

Q Is it safe to use serum if I have skin problems?
A Since serums are concentrated, you may be prone to certain allergies or reactions. So consult your dermatologist before you try out something new, or do a patch test in the beginning before you use it full force! Also, if you are pregnant, or have skin ailments like eczema, it's best to avoid using a serum with very potent ingredients. Lastly, use it correctly, without adding too much makeup on top, or chemicals that can react adversely to the serum.

Ingredients in serums range from the ordinary to the exotic, depending on what you're going for. Here are a few common ones to watch out for.
1) Vitamin C
It is a common ingredient for anti-ageing, so if you're in your late 20s 30s and 40s, use a serum with this. Not only does this potent component build collagen, it also boosts skin immunity and should be a part of your skincare regimen on a regular basis.

2) Hyaluronic acids
Are a great way to treat dehydrated skin, without the heaviness of creams and emollients. These trap in the skin's natural water levels, and make sure that it doesn't lose any of its natural moisture, remaining replenished. Ceramides and amino acids also achieve the same results and benefits.

3) Antioxidants
are essential to protect the skin from stress and environmental damage. So beta-carotene and green tea are extracts to watch out for, while berries, pomegranate and grape seed extract are other active ingredients.

4) Retinols
are serum ingredients ideal for skins that are prone to acne, while also addressing fine lines and wrinkles.

5) Plant-based active ingredients
like liquorice make for natural brightening ingredients and are just right to deal with those pesky sunspots and scars, as well as patchy skin.

6) Anti-inflammatory
If you have sensitive skin, use a serum with anti-inflammatory properties, preventing redness, breakouts and inflammation. The ingredients to read on the label you need to check out are zinc, arnica and aloe vera.

2 steps to hydrated and glowing skin
Steam your face for 3- 5 mins and immediately apply a generous amount of chilled aloe gel and go to bed
if you have active acne or acne prone skin you can skip steaming and just apply the gel alone
The gel can be applied everyday or you can just make it a night time routine if you don't follow one
Keep the steaming routine just once or twice a week
I wouldn't recommend raw aloe gel as it doesn't suit everyone and it may lead to reactions so use any good quality/cold pressed aloe vera
