BREAKFAST IN A BOX🍳
Bssc has been providing weekly meals to our houseless neighbors here in Oceanside. We’ve been doing this by collecting donations from our community. If you are able to, please consider donating so we can continue providing meals and other resources to our neighbors who need it the most during these times. We must take care of our own communities and build with one another🔆

What does a $4 donation do?
Provides a neighbor in need with a meal that includes: eggs, bacon, fresh bread, fresh fruit, coffee, water and a snack.

We are initiating an educational campaign, The Abolitionist Alphabet! Political education is a key part of creating the world we want to live in and understanding the root of social, political and cultural issues we face.

To begin,
A is for Abolition.

The fight for liberation has been a unifying experience for all of us. Those who’ve helped organize with us and hopefully all of you as well :) after so much talk and discussion we’ve made the decision to find a name that reflects this and joins our community, Bajo un Solo Sol Collective. (Under One Sun Collective)
We wanted to acknowledge our coastal roots and have viewed the energy of the sun as a unifying piece of nature that touches us all.
We are excited to move forward under a name that represents our intentions for our community🌞

It is with great sadness that we are here yet again, honoring the lives stolen by the police. Join us in memorializing the spirit of our neighbors, through community. With respect to those who have lost their lives to the imaginary narrative that the police are here to protect us, we want to show up in support and in tribute.

Please use this space with the intention of healing and sharing love to our community members✨💚

As we challenge the legitimacy of the police state, we must also question the legitimacy of the news sources that help perpetuate criminalization of the working class. We deserve to see news stories from the point of view of our community members, not from the forces seeking to undermine them.

Make your voices heard! After a near 2 month break taken in the midst of a pandemic and deteriorating political climate, our city’s “representatives” are prepared to make significant change in Oceanside.. or that’s what we continue to hear. Families in Oceanside are worrying about being evicted and their child’s next meal while Chris Rodriguez is investing in reopening Oceanside’s gyms in defense of ‘Merica.

This Tuesday, August 4th, we aim to come together in unison to channel and center our thoughts. We aim to be heard, so join us as we workshop initial actions to work from home.

Invite a friend, say how you feel(it’s okay to be angry), and bring a drink as we work through our messages to be submitted for the upcoming city council meeting.

One of the highest paying public jobs in Oceanside is the police officer. Despite being the most lucrative “public service” profession, they aren’t very good at their job. This inability to maintain the already bare minimum standards of an already lax establishment leads us to one answer, stop hiring more and stop funding the ones already syphoning our tax dollars.

Oside4RacialJustice firmly calls on the Oceanside Police Department to end it’s reign of state-sponsored terrorism on our community. This starts with stopping the problem at its root. Over 65 million dollars of Oceanside’s municipal budget was directed to putting guns into the hands of officers, instead of food into the hands of its most vulnerable. Oceanside criminalizes poverty every chance it gets, instead of tackling these issues at their very core. Police are ineffective. Oceanside’s police are no exception.

We call on the ceasing of all new hires and increases in the police budget, effective immediately.

By now we are all aware of the excessive use of force perpetuated by Oceanside Police Department that took place on July 14th. We have learned from past instances of neglecting human life, that this isn’t just a case of a few bad apples, but an institutional issue that must be dismantled at its core. It’s time for us, the people, to take action and hold the department and the officers involved accountable. As we move forward in making Oceanside a community that reflects the values of it’s community members, we need your help getting started.

@ Oceanside, California

NO ONE IS FREE UNTIL WE ALL ARE. We stand in solidarity with Black Lives Matter now and always. Liberation is a lifelong pursuit and will require the pursuit of racial, economic, and social justice. Did you know there are over 2.3 million people incarcerated in this country? Most of whom are black and brown folks. The U.S. prison industrial complex is the largest in the world. In addition, the U.S. has criminalized asylum seekers, many of whom are young children, mothers, and families. There are over 42,000 people in immigrant detention centers. We must take action to create a world that is liberated from violent, oppressive, punitive “justice” systems and that does not criminalize migration.

This 4th of July: join us in a COVID-friendly protest where we drive together loud and proud along the coast to raise awareness about the social injustices in our own city, state, and country that have historically oppressed and brutalized our black brother’s, sisters and siblings; as well as desecrated indigenous communities for hundreds of years.

The fight for freedom is not over until all of us are liberated from oppressive systems that profit from incarceration, suffering, and trauma. This Independence day may we remember all those who are held captive by state-sanctioned violence and those who are no longer with us due to police brutality, colonization, desecration of indigenous land, and incarceration.

We must stand firm in our collective power to create social and political change.

We also encourage all of us to be aware that we are in the midst of a global pandemic and the U.S. is now the epicenter of Covid-19.
For the safety and wellbeing of our community, we have decided to organize a caravan protest!

This is a follow the leader caravan protest so make sure to follow your fellow protestors along the 76 highway and highway 101!🗣

No one is free until we all are!🗣
This 4th of July we must acknowledge the continued oppression experienced by the BIPOC community and the freedom so many have been deprived of in the “Land of the Free”.
Join us this 4th for a car caravan through our city of Oceanside to protest this Independence Day. We will be including BIPOC speakers and redirect our attention to the liberation of all people. More details to come in the next few days!
