#10: Cardio

Last on the list is general cardio work. It doesn’t really matter what you do to get the blood pumping, so long as you do it. Jogging is nice and easy, stair climbing can be done in the home if you have stairs, jumping rope works, and more. Find the exercise that works best for you to get your heart rate up, and use it as a warmup for the rest of your routine.

Woman Doing Cardio

When combined with a d.i.e.tary plan like the Smoothie D.i.e.t, these exercises can help tone away stubborn arm fat and build endurance. What’s not to love?

Are there any exercises you feel we may have missed? If so, be sure to let us know down in the comments section below! Additionally, if you have any questions after reading about these exercises, please leave those down in the comments section as well! I’d be more than happy to help you out however I can.

Accessories and More

There are a few things that can make different models of blender stand out. Several of the Magic Bullet and Nutribullet blenders have packages of accessories, including extra cups, lids, and rings. Some of them even have tools to help you tighten on the lids. Unfortunately, none of them have tampers, though that’s largely a quirk of design; there’s nowhere for them to fit.
Magic Bullet Accessories

Almost all of the Nutribullet and Magic Bullet blenders only come in a single color, usually either silver or black. The Nutribullet Pro comes in over a dozen different color options, though. If that’s meaningful to you, that’s your option. Even the Rx only comes in black.

All of the cups offered by the Nutribullet company are BPA-free plastic. No glass or metal carafes here, which is fine. These are meant to be small, agile, lightweight machines, not durable and enduring devices.
Noise

Noise is occasionally a problem for larger industrial-scale blenders or blenders that crush ice. It can be an issue if you want breakfast smoothies but don’t want to disturb your family.

Fortunately – or unfortunately, depending on your perspective – the Magic Bullet is one of the quietest blenders I’ve ever heard. It’s obvious why – the underpowered motor is barely enough to blend foods, let alone crush through anything hard enough to make noise.
Nutribullet Smoothie Blending

The Nutribullet, meanwhile, is more on par with other blenders, though still a little quieter than others.

Really, though, a lot of the noise from a blender comes from the ingredients you put in it. Even the quietest blender is going to make a lot of noise if you fill it with ice or nuts, and a loud blender is going to seem quieter if it’s just blending up fruit and yogurt. It’s hard to directly compare with real usage habits.

Do I have to freeze my liquid ingredients separately?

Not at all! I recommend freezing your liquids (including coconut water, coconut milk, and even yogurt) in an ice tray ahead of time for two reasons. First, it makes it easier to get them out of the bag later. If you just dump a few spoons of yogurt into a bag, even if it’s frozen, it may be difficult to get it all out of the bag later on when you want to blend up the smoothie. Honestly, though, I’ve seen it done both ways, and they can both work fine.

Fruit Ice Cubes

The other reason is that it can make measurement easier. Instead of measuring out a cup of coconut water, you can know that it’s, say, eight ice cubes worth, and add those. You’ll want to adjust depending on the size of your ice tray, of course.

You absolutely don’t need to freeze them separately, though. Do whatever works best for you.
How much of a recipe can I make at once?

As much as you want! My only recommendation is to avoid making too much of any one recipe at once, just so you don’t get tired of it and let it go bad in the freezer. If you make ten servings of a smoothie, even if you love the flavor, you might not want it every day. If you make ten servings of five different smoothies, that’s two months’ worth of smoothies, and you’re bound to let some go off.

Making Frozen Smoothie Pack

That said, it all depends on how much you like a given recipe, how often you’re having smoothies, and, most importantly, how much room you have in your freezer. Remember, you (probably) can’t just dedicate your entire freezer to smoothie packs! You need room for other things, like chicken. Of course, that all changes if you buy a small chest freezer just for smoothie packs.

What Fats are Healthy and Why?

To understand which fats are healthy and which aren’t, you need to know a little bit about how and why fats work. This will get a little technical, but don’t worry; we’ll try to make it easy to understand.

A fat molecule (or triglyceride) is an organic chain of compounds called fatty acids (like omega-3s) attached to a backbone of glycerol. The fatty acids come in several forms and can be saturated or unsaturated. Saturated fats are fats that have no double bonds, and are “saturated” with hydrogen. If there are double bonds, the fat has less hydrogen in it and is unsaturated. If it has only one double bond, it’s mono (one) unsaturated. If it has more than one, yup, you guessed it; these are polyunsaturated (poly meaning multiple) fats.

Fats can also be cis or trans. Yes, those terms do come from chemistry, originally! Cis fats have double bonds on one side, making a curved molecule. Trans fats have double bonds on either side of the molecule, keeping it straight. Trans fats are rare in nature but are made through partial hydrogenation.

Hydrogen, right? Hydrogenation infuses unsaturated fats with hydrogen artificially, creating trans fats.

So, we’re left with four primary types of fats:

Monounsaturated fat.
Polyunsaturated fat.
Trans fats (partially saturated)
Saturated fats.
You can read the science in greater detail, along with diagrams, over here. What matters to us today is that some of these fats are healthy and some are not. So which is which?

Trans fats, as you may have heard, are bad for you. So, too, are saturated fats. Unsaturated fats, conversely, are good for you. This is why you want to avoid any food that contains trans-fats or excess amounts of saturated fat. Anything with “partially hydrogenated oil” in it is bad for you as well.

It’s worth making a note here that Harvard’s medical school has performed some studies and literature analysis on this subject. They found that there’s not all that much evidence to suggest that saturated fats are definitively bad for you. Trans fats are certainly bad for you and are directly linked to heart disease and other cardiovascular problems. Saturated fats may or may not be bad, but it won’t hurt you to avoid them or consume them in smaller quantities. Unsaturated fats are, across the board, generally considered good for you.

1. Decide on a type of green tea. The first thing you need to do is decide what kind of green tea you want to use. You have two primary options to pick from; brewed green tea and matcha.

Brewed green tea means brewing a fresh cup of green tea, usually concentrated. You’ll take two tea bags and brew a cup (or an equivalent amount of loose-leaf tea. Your local tea shop will be full of helpful people who can give you tips and recommendations here.) You can brew it stronger or weaker according to your tastes, but the stronger it is, the better an effect it will have. You then use this brewed tea as an ingredient in your smoothie.

Decide on a Green Tea Type

Matcha is green tea leaves that are ground into a rich green powder, traditionally from Japan. Many people recommend making sure you’re getting imported Japanese matcha because foreign-produced matcha isn’t as good as Japanese matcha. Be aware that matcha tends to have a more potent flavor, and poor-quality matcha is very bitter. You may or may not enjoy that, so play around with different options to find the one you like the most. Not all matcha is created equal! You can add matcha to a smoothie simply by adding the powder to your mix; no need to brew it as the tea first.

Tip #8: Have Some Go-To Leftover Recipes
Taking Leftover Recipe Ingredients
Leftover recipes are meals that are pretty much a dump of all the remaining things that you have in your fridge. The last meal of the week is perfect for repurposing all of these leftovers and leftover ingredients.

A Calorie is Not Just a Calorie
Clearly, I’m not going to suggest that the right caloric number is all that’s important. You could easily fill up your calorie allowance with garbage food, and while you may have won a number’s game, your body will not respond in a healthy way.

Low Calorie Meal
It’s true that all calories have the same amount of energy. Every single dietary calorie contains 4,184 Joules of energy. In that respect, a calorie is a calorie.

But when it comes to your body, things are not that simple. The human body is “a highly complex biochemical system with elaborate processes that regulate energy balance.” The kinds of food you eat inform how healthy your body is in warding off viruses and diseases and a whole host of other benefits.

H**p Milk
H**p milk is made from ground, soaked h**p seeds, which do not contain the psychoactive component of the Cannabis sativa plant. The seeds are high in protein and healthy omega-3 and omega-6 unsaturated fats. H**p milk contains a slighter high amount of these nutrients than other kinds of plant-based milk.

H**p Milk
An 8-ounce (240-ml) serving of h**p milk provides the following:

60 calories
3 grams of protein
Zero carbs
5 grams of fat
25% of the daily value of phosphorus
20% of the daily value of calcium
15% of the daily value of magnesium
10% of the daily value of iron
H**p milk is virtually carb-free, but some brands add sweeteners, which increase the carb content. Make sure to check the ingredient label and buy h**p — and any other plant milk — without added sugar.
