We may not have won best project but the judges had the best compliments for our kids! They couldn’t believe that they were only second graders and they were very impressed with how mature and informed they were. They said “They melted our hearts!”
Most of the kids we were competing against were 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade. We have had the best day at Rupp Arena!

Tomorrow is the last day to bring in money for the STLP Penny Wars! These second graders have worked everyday counting and helping to roll coins. They wrote the sweetest letters to the students in Knott County at Hindman Elementary. They can’t wait to give the donation to these well deserving students.
Here is the latest update, but all of the classes have worked equally hard to help for this great cause!
6th Place: Miss Gibson
5th Place: Mrs. Carroll
4th Place: Mrs. Caniff
3rd Place: Mrs. Hensley
2nd Place: Mrs. Baker
1st Place: Mrs. A. Conley
The totals can change with donations brought in tomorrow! Thank you so much to everyone who has made this fundraiser a success!

Penny Wars update! We are so close to hitting our goal! Here is the leaderboard for second grade classes- 6th place- Gibson
5th place- Carroll
Tied for 4th/3rd place- Baker and Hensley
2nd place- Caniff
1st place- A. Conley
These numbers can change daily! Remember, you can sabotage the other classes by sending in dollar bills, tens, or twenties- and all silver change works as a ”sabotage” as well. This fundraiser has been so much fun and these kids are so proud to be able to provide some help and show kindness to our friends at Hindman Elementary. You have until Friday to send in that change!

Stella and William, second graders and members of our “Substitute Teacher Shortage” project team are reading letters to future teachers- encouraging them to apply for substitute teaching. This was an idea straight from these awesome kiddos. They brainstormed problems that schools are facing and what STLP can do to help solve them. They will be presenting this project at state in April.

Our second graders are learning valuable life lessons about giving to others as well as how to count and roll change! So proud of these kiddos. Here is the update after the first two days for the 2nd Grade STLP Penny Wars:
6th place- Miss Gibson
5th place- Mrs. Carroll
4th place- Mrs. Caniff
3rd place- Mrs. Baker
2nd Place- Mrs. Hensley
1st Place- Mrs. A. Conley
These totals can change daily! Keep those donations coming. The kids love to “sabotage” the other classes by putting silver coins in their buckets. Help your favorite second grade class win a technology party sponsored by the STLP team and most importantly- our friends at Hindman Elementary to get some new iPads after suffering terrible flooding in August.
