| In a tragic road accident that occurred at Dergoan in the wee hours around 4:30 am today, around 12 people had to lose their lives when buses and trucks carrying picnickers collided head-on. sending shock waves across the state.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an ex-gratia of two lakh rupees from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund to the next of kin of each deceased in the bus accident in Assam's Dergaon.
Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma taking concern over road accidents during the picnic season said that people should not start travelling for picnics so early in the morning. The state police have issued an SOP which states that buses can only operate after the fog clears in the morning and must arrive before the fog clears in the evening.
