A wee something I made for my last Family Yoga class of the season. Shoot me a DM if you’d like the pdf!

A reminder that yoga doesn’t need to be something that happens exclusively on a mat or in a studio. It’s every opportunity to breathe, move, and connect with ourselves and others. 💕🙏🏽

A question I get asked that is worth addressing.

I am fully conscious of my personal intersections that allow me to currently offer my classes based on a PWYC model. This isn’t meant to devalue the labour of other teachers or studios working in a world in which we need to sell out time and labour to live. All this work is important.

Will I do this forever? I’m not sure honestly. But it sits well with me for now, so I’m listening to that inner voice.

Accessibility to yoga and decolonizing yoga matters to me. It’s so much more than stretching, branded pants, and core-work. Though those can all be fun parts of the bigger picture ;)

Yesterday I went to a pretty neat display at the .ca and learned about some interesting research!

Internet rabbit hole ensued. https://neurosciencenews.com/meditation-cognitive-bias-23372/

I know one study isn’t “statistically significant” but it’s kind of cool to see how different ways of knowing can support each other. We live in a society that has put Western empirical evidence on a pedestal above other ways of knowing. It’s used as a benchmark to measure and validate the worth of other ways of knowing.

I think we can safely say that it can work the other way too. Ancient wellness practices have endured for a reason, I like to think of “science” not as a way to validate but rather to translate other ways of knowing. They’re often pointing to the same conclusions, just in different languages.

Anyways…. This post was supposed to be about systemic racism. Love me a good rant. I swear there’s a connection here somewhere though… (what what colonialism)
