Have you seen our Instagram page?
I share our build progress there also!
Today's project was staining pine boards for our bathroom walls/shower and sealing cabinets with polyurethane
A wall!!?!?
Today we cut the hole for the shower drain and built 1 of 2 walls that will be in the bus
All loaded up!
This was before and after we drove around the yard and found 18 sheets of 1/2" AC plywood for $15 a piece!
It finally stopped raining enough to paint the ceiling! What a difference?!
We have been working on the Never Lost Bus for 1 year now!
Our Progress:
-Seats, floor, and ceiling removed
-Replaced floor with sheet metal, insulation, and plywood
-Original heaters removed
-Original insulation removed
-Sound deadening material placed on ceiling
-Deleated 5 windows
-Resealed remaining windows
-Removed and patched stop sign, strobe light, emergency exit, and roof vent
-Patched several rust holes
-Removed the rusted out part of emergency exit door and rebuilt it
-Removed original bus stickers
-Sanded and painted the exterior
-Sealed the roof with Bus-kote
-Replaced exterior bulb lights with led
-Removed rusty stairs and rebuilt them
-Reinsulated with wool and foam board
-Reinstalled and primed original bus ceiling
I know I missed several things, but so much has been done! Hopefully by this time next year I will be living in it!
The bus ceiling is primed and ready for a fresh coat of paint!
Kitchen cabinets have been ordered!
Is 13.5 sq. ft. too small of a bathroom for you?
(Out Compost toilet will sit in the shower pan)
This is the all purpose area of the bus. It is the living room, art studio, dining room, and workout area!
There will be 2 fold up tables on the walls for work space, cabinets for art supply storage, and a drop down floor over the stairs to add some extra space.
Snow days have me day dreaming and day dreams have me making art!
Just a sneak peak at our future kitchen!
The ceiling is going back up!
Along with electrical wiring and wool insulation!
Our Bus is green!!!
What a huge milestone for our build!
We have been preparing to paint for months and we got it done just in time to beat the weather!
Out with the old, in with the new!
Our original stairs were rusted out and in need of replacement, so we took the opportunity to add a bit more storage! The step(currently not built) will have a hinged lid adding nearly 2 square feet of space!
We had a very exciting work day this weekend, we have a floor!
No more worrying about falling through!
Had some great help fixing the rust on our back door!
Out with the windows!
Behind the covered windows will be a closet, bathroom, pantry, and wood stove heater!
Floor painted with an thermal additive. hope it helps. But will never know
The floor is out and the rust has been treated!
I give Collins props for using the strongest glue known to man on this bus, It sucked to pull everything out!
Under this pretty plywood we found rusted out sheet metal with holes big enough to fall through 😢
It hasn't taken us too long to make a complete mess of the bus! We got the ceiling out last week, this week we are working on the floor!
I bought a School Bus! In just few short months it will be transformed from bus to home!
