Helping disadvantaged groups (NEETs and/or migrants) to become successful participants in the community by developing their networking skills and by using the links they have created for better inclusion. The overall objective of the SHARENE(E)T project is to help disadvantaged groups (NEETs and/or migrants) to become successful participants in the community by developing their networking skills and by using the links they have created for better inclusion.
๐The PR4, which provides for the creation of a guide for the development of social capital and employment opportunities, is under development. This guide collects good practices and case studies of the project, including the most important lessons we have learned from the pilots and implemented activities. The guide is, therefore, a complete resource that can be used for the development of human capital and also for the professional orientation of disadvantaged people.

At the same time, the partners also started the pilot of PR3, the Training program on networking for low-skilled groups. This is a training for trainers, a very important moment for the professionals to learn more about the importance of Networking and how they can develop networking competencies with young people from more vulnerable contexts. The Italian partner, the San Giuseppe ONLUS Association, and the Romanian one, EASI, have already held two sessions in which professionals who work with people from disadvantaged backgrounds, job placement professionals, young educators and mentors participated.

Gain a deeper insight within the realies of young people neither in employment nor in education or training (NEET) in the European Union (EU) from this interesting article!
It emphasizes the changing dynamics of the job market for young individuals, who are now more prone to changing jobs frequently, making it crucial to ensure a smooth transition from education to work.
The main focus is on the age group of 15 to 29, with the EU setting a target that aims to reduce the share of NEET individuals in this age group to less than 9% by 2030. As of 2022, the average NEET rate in the EU is reported at 11.7%.
This suggests that there is still work to be done to achieve the set target, but it's acknowledged that progress varies among Member States, with some countries already meeting the 2030 goal. In addition, the article presents current statistics regarding the educational level of the NEETs, its gender aspect as well as their place of residence in terms of degree of urbanization.
Efforts to reduce the NEET rate involve creating policies and initiatives that facilitate a smoother transition from education to employment, supporting young people in finding and maintaining suitable work opportunities.

The importance of the saying โno man is an Islandโ has been proved to be the reason why many of us need to make a collective effort in the bid to achieve professional success. For many individuals that have succeeded in their career, the causes have largely been contributed to the strong networking channels they have created over time.
But the question of who you network with and their relevance to your career matters more. This way, you donโt have to network with everyone. Rather, first study how you can contribute to their success, in addition to how you stand to benefit from their knowledge.
โHere are some reasons why networking should be an essential aspect if you truly want to build your career.

Last October, from the 16th to the 20th in Amadora, Portugal, the Shareneet project training course was held. Experts (including social workers, job placement workers, youth workers, educators from Italy, Cyprus, Portugal, Turkey and Romania have worked to:
1. Test the network's self-assessment tool for the skills of disadvantaged people;
2. Know the training modules for low-skilled people to improve their soft skills (communication, emotional intelligence, self-efficacy, interpersonal and entrepreneurial skills, political and networking skills);
3. Experiment with practical exercises to improve NEETs' learning of skills and to involve and motivate them;
4. Provide feedback and suggestions based on their skills and experience working with the target group.
Shareneet is a project that aims to develop and use innovative practices and good practices adaptable to NEETs (i.e. young people who are not included in a study path and do not work), through networking self-assessment tools, the creation of a learning catalog for paths customized and a guide to provide professionals with a set of guidelines, resources and tools to apply when working with NEET.

Why are NEETs high in the European agenda?
Technically, when we are talking about NEETs, we essentially talk about social exclusion. Combatting people marginalization is high in the European agenda and incorporated in several goals of the United Nationsโ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Why networking is important?
โEssentially, networking is about finding a job via who you know, rather than what you know. (...) It can also provide information, advice and opportunities, and open doors that you otherwise wouldnโt have considered. A strong network can even support you through challenging career breaks or transitions such as redundancy, moving overseas or maternity leave. Lambart explains, โHaving a network around you will help you maintain confidence when you recommence your job search.โ

Today young people are changing jobs more frequently and it takes longer to get established on the labour market. Therefore, it is important to make sure that the transition from education to work is smooth and also highlight the risks of being neither in employment nor in education or training. There are risks, both for the individual and in the long run for society, if young adults find themselves disengaged from both education and the labour market.

Over time, the transition from education to work has become more complex. Today young people are changing jobs more frequently and it takes longer to become established on the labour market, either by choice or necessity. It has become more common for students in tertiary education to work part-time or seasonally to supplement their income. Furthermore, it has also become more common for young people in employment to return to education or training to improve their qualifications. As a result, the transition from education to work has become less clear, with a growing share of students also working and a rising proportion of people in employment also studying.
In 2022, 12.4 % of young people aged 15โ19 in the EU were both employed and in education and thus made use of this more flexible transition from education to work. The share rose to 21.4 % among those aged 20โ24, before falling somewhat for older age groups, 16.2 % among those aged 25โ29 and 11.9 % for those aged 30โ34. An important factor when studying young adults and their transition from education to work is the risk of becoming a person neither in employment nor in education or training (NEET). It is shown that the level of NEETs in the respective age groups varies and that the share increases with age. This pattern is plausible since most young people aged 15โ19 in the EU remain in education and training, either formal or non-informal. Therefore, it is unsurprising that relatively few people in this age group (5.8 %) were NEETs in 2022.

The latest figures on NEETs in Italy are provided in a report NEETs in Italy.
We should look more closely at the term NEETs. The definition includes recent, high-potential graduates who are motivated to spend their time looking for jobs in line with their ambitions and qualifications, but also those youngsters who have left education early and have less to offer the labour market. The report also reveals that โmothers not in employment make up a significant proportion of NEETsโ.
To understand the variegated group called NEETs, the report defines four categories: 1) those seeking employment, making up just over 40% of the total; 2) those who are unavailable for active life for a variety of reasons, who account for 20%; 3) people not actively seeking employment but awaiting an opportunity, in other words people who are waiting for the conditions to be right before starting an activity, roughly another 20%; and finally 4) the disengaged, around 15% who are not looking for a job and are pessimistic about their chances of finding work.

This indicator presents the share of young people who are not in employment, education or training (NEET), as a percentage of the total number of young people in the corresponding age group, by gender. Young people in education include those attending part-time or full-time education, but exclude those in non-formal education and in educational activities of very short duration.
Employment is defined according to the OECD/ILO Guidelines and covers all those who have been in paid work for at least one hour in the reference week of the survey or were temporarily absent from such work. Therefore NEET youth can be either unemployed or inactive and not involved in education or training. Young people who are neither in employment nor in education or training are at risk of becoming socially excluded โ individuals with income below the poverty-line and lacking the skills to improve their economic situation.

NEET is an acronym for โnot in employment, education or trainingโ, used to refer to the situation of many young persons, aged between 15 and 29, in Europe. The aim of the NEET concept is to broaden understanding of the vulnerable status of young people and to better monitor their problematic access to the labour market.
The COVID-19 pandemic and related economic restrictions have contributed to an increase in the NEETs rate to 13.7% in 2020, as a result of job loss and barriers to education and training for young people
