Family, friends and supporters of an upstate woman currently in prison will soon learn if she’ll be able to come home. A parole hearing for Tiffany Carroll is set for September 27. The Greenwood County woman is currently serving a 15-year sentence for voluntary manslaughter after pleading guilty but mentally ill to stabbing her boyfriend, William Jamaal Johnson, to death in 2017. However, officials argued she was in an abusive relationship, and a clinical psychologist later diagnosed her with battered woman syndrome. Earlier this year, Carroll’s family began working with Representative John McCravy to try and get her pardoned. However, the Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services later ruled that Carroll couldn’t receive a pardon because she is currently eligible for parole. The Department stated that South Carolina law says in the event of extraordinary circumstances, an inmate must be considered for a pardon before they are parole-eligible. FOX Carolina will be covering Carroll’s parole hearing on Wednesday.

Tiffany was transported out of Greenwood yesterday to begin her sentence 💔 She was in good spirits 🙌🏽. As soon as we get location information and the ok from her we will post letter writing, words of encouragement for her supporters to send to her. What are signs of battered wife syndrome?
Battered wife syndrome results in several symptoms. A woman in an abusive relationship may:
• Think the abuse is her fault
• Hide the abuse from friends and family
• Fear for her life or the lives of her children
• Irrationally believe that the abuser is all-knowing and can see her every movement
• Be afraid and never know what side of their partner they’ll see that day 🤔 a loving partner or an abuser.
What is battered wife syndrome?
Battered wife syndrome is an extreme form of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
With battered wife syndrome, a woman may develop a learned helplessness that causes her to believe she deserves the abuse and that she can’t get away from it. In many cases, it’s why women don’t report their abuse to police or avoid telling friends and family what’s really going on. Battered woman syndrome is serious, which is why it’s taken into account in homicide cases when women murder their abusive partners.
This past Saturday we had a very productive meeting today with Attorney Rauch Wise, Attorney Charles Grose and family, friends and supporters of Tiffany Carroll. The attorneys will visit Tiffany either today or tomorrow. Please note that NEITHER ATTORNEY HAS COMMITTED TO REPRESENTING TIFFANY because ONLY TIFFANY CAN DECIDE on WHO REPRESENTS HER during the PCR process. The family has asked that anyone who wants to donate money for legal fees to PLEASE WAIT UNTIL AFTER attorneys have met with Tiffany and the decision is made about who will represent her. We appreciate everyone's support through this difficult process and will update as soon as representation is determined.

A pastor visited Tiffany yesterday. She reports that it was a good visit. She spent a lot of time talking and praying with Tiffany. She is reading the Bible and sharing with others. Pray for her because she has been experiencing high blood pressure and headaches, probably stress related. She misses her children and family. She’s truly thankful for all supporting her and sends her love and thanks to everyone ❤

The police claim this injustice occurred because "nothing was going on" at the time Tiffany cut her attacker. In other words, even after he beat her, threw the baby out the door, held her down while trying to strangle her...when his grandfather finally got his hands from around her neck and she got up she was supposed to run out of the door instead of running into the kitchen to get a knife. The police don't feel that she had the right to stand her ground and protect herself...
