(SOLD) Bird Series~
During the year of Covid lockdown, I found myself reading alot on my deck.
I started to appreciate how many birds would visit my yard.
Since the River Arts District , including this studio , was closed for the year, working from home became my normal routine.
Unable to travel for new reference material, my feathered friends became my models.
I bought several feeders and so began my love for birds and painting them.
It was featured in “Asheville Made” as part of an article on what artists were up to during the pandemic. Almost all of these paintings have sold. I think my little feathered friends rewarded me for feeding them so well!
Framed and ready to perch on your walls. Season 2 begins!

UPDATE: SOLD. - Tried a new paper . At first I thought I couldn't work with it. But once I figured out how the surface reacted to my different pastels I was able to get something down. Had to use a sponge tip applicator for most of this. A bare finger for blending just wasn't working for me as it does with my other go to paper. 9x12 Pastel on PastelMat paper.
Update: SOLD. Lost Bucket . A memento from my recent trip to Stowe Vt. Ya never know what you’ll come across in the backwoods Skiing in Mt Mansfield. 12x16 Pastel on Uart board.
I posted my latest piece this morning on my Instagram account. Someone just texted me and bought it! I’ve been trying to get away from the red palette and dive into blues/greens but these hot colors have been very popular. I’m so grateful to make sales during this time. I think I’ll open a bottle of RED to thank this delicious color palette! Follow me on Instagram! lc.photo

Congratulations to Lucy Cobos on the latest "In Solidarity" artwork sale, which went to JaQuan, a music teacher at Asheville High. This could not have gone to a more perfect home than his! In celebration of the extraordinary contributions made by African-American jazz artists to world culture, Lucy created this pastel portrait of Grammy award winning artist Esperanza Spalding. $650 of the purchase price was donated to Black Lives Matter, and matched by Pink Dog Creative, doubling the total donation amount to $1,300. As of this date, the "In Solidarity" exhibition has donated $9,070 to various charities. .cobos

Mixed Media Artist
My studio is located in the River Arts District of Asheville, NC.
After leaving a 35 plus year as a commercial photographer in Boston, I made the decision to pursue my dream of painting full time. This journey is my own personal “work in progress”. The mediums I work with are pastels, coldwax/oils and encaustics. The pastels are influenced by actual places, references from my library of photographs, while the cold wax pieces are mostly interpretive landscapes, good exercises to dig deeper with my creativity. With encaustics, I use the photo transfer method as my base. I’ll add enhancements with pan pastels, or incorporate materials to add more texture and depth to the final surface.
My work is evolving. I could not think of a better place, than here in Asheville to start my new journey, with inspiration from the many talented artists I’ve come to know and respect. Thank you all for your continued support.
During this Covid pandemic, my studio is closed to the public.
