As a physiologist, I can't emphasize this enough -- "weight loss" is not a physiological goal. Death, muscle loss, and malnutrition result in weight loss, but we know that's not healthy. Pursuing meaningful movement goals rather than weight loss goals is physiological. That said, it is also important to acknowledge that nutrition, energy, and physical activity are inextricably linked, which means we must pay attention to what we eat.
Staying up to date with vaccines is like continuing education for the immune system. Don't put it off.

Honored to share expert comments on behalf of the American Physiological Society regarding an exceptional paper on post COVID sequelae authored by Al-Aly and colleagues. Dr. Al-Aly's findings are a wake up call against COVID complacency because the risk of post-acute COVID death or illness is not trivial even with vaccination. The take home message is simple -- stay up-to-date on vaccination to reduce the risk of death and hospitalization, and then continue to follow risk reduction measures to avoid getting and spreading COVID.
