~ Teej Festival ~ with a very popular sweet dish “Sattu” that is made for the special occasion of Teej🧆 Swipe to see the food art on Sattu all done at home ☺️

This sattu is mainly made on teej/ Badi teej festival which is celebrated 4 days after rakhi and can be said as a festival for women. Women have a get together and pooja. Fasting is performed by women for their husbands and only after moon arrives women can have food this is similar to karwa chauth. Sattu ka pinda is prepared to offer god and it is decorated in many ways.
Being from a Marwari Family, we have seen sattu decoration a lot especially in a rajasthani marriage in marwad or for the first Teej festival of a Marwari bride, sattu is made in a large quantity & decorated with in more artistic way. Big & small containers full of sattu are decorated from the brides side as “Udhyapan/Ujjarna” and given to groom side where they perform “Kalapana” and distribute to family & friends. A lot of exchange of gifts & sweets is done as Shagun from both sides. This is a very happy festival in the monsoon season🥰 ~ Sawan ka mahina mein Teej ki Rounak ~ 💗
Women wear Lehariya pattern dress on this occasion which adds charm to their beauty😍 Please swipe to see the Foodie Sister in laws got all dressed up in Lehariya Saree for Teej festivities and Pooja 🙂🙏🏻
As the sun set all women get together and listen to the teej katha (the story behind teej). After the katha is done and the moon appears the husband takes sattu with help of silver coin and gives it to wife for breaking the fast.😇
Sattu ka pinda can be made in different flours like rice flour, gram flour, wheat flour but the most favorite among all marwadi homes is with dalia. 🧆🧆
PS- Very Very Late Post due to Rakhi and Teej festivities 😊

~ अन्नकूट का भोग / The Annakut Bhog ~ 🍱🥬🥕🌶🌽🥔🍠🥦🥥🍅🍆🥗🍲🍚🥣🧉

“दीपावली के अगले दिन भगवान कृष्ण के साथ गोवर्धन पर्वत और गायों की पूजा का विधान है। इसी दिन भगवान कृष्ण को 56 या 108 तरह के पकवान बनाकर भोग लगाया जाता है। अपने इष्ट और परम आराध्य को अर्पित किए जाने वाले इन पकवानों को 'अन्नकूट' कहा जाता है।“

“Govardhan Puja as it is also known, is a Hindu festival in which devotees prepare and offer a large variety of vegetarian food to Bhagwan (God) Shri Krishna as a mark of gratitude. Devotees offer a mountain of food, metaphorically representing the Govardhan Hill, to God as a ritual remembrance and to renew their faith in taking refuge in God. The Annakut festival occurs on the first lunar day of Shukla Paksha (bright fortnight) in the Hindu calendar month of Kartik, which is the next day of Deepawali (Diwali), the Hindu festival of lights, and also the first day of the Vikram Samvat calendar.”
(P.S. - The Annakut Bhog prepared here just have food varieties nearly 25-30 not 56 or 108 like the proper Chappan Bhog because it is prepared to offer God & seek blessings & only for family members so keeping in mind “No wastage of Food” 😇 Just limited but enough to follow the rituals🤩

😍🤩~~ Lauki Nu Muthiya ~~ Our one of the favourite Gujarati dish🤩😍

Vegetable Fried Lauki Muthiy Recipe:

~ Firstly take a utensil filled with water, boil it & put a used lemon cut into two pieces(take out lemon juice in a separate bowl) in the container before steaming..

~ Next is prepare dough, in a suitable bowl or plate, take grated Bottle gourd(ghisi hui lauki: 1 piece- squeeze it with hands to remove the extra water), then add thick whole wheat flour(mota aata-2 cups), add some Indian spices- red chilli powder(lal mirchi), turmeric powder(haldi), carom seeds(ajwain), fennel seeds(sauf), salt(namak)..

~ Add chopped coriander leaves(dhaniya), water & prepare very loose & sticky dough and make any shape or size putting it on a steaming plate with small holes..

~ Next put that plate on the container we took for boiling water for the process of steaming. Steam it for 20-25 minutes also keep checking with a knife or toothpick to see if they are cooked well, it should not be sticky.

~ Let it cool after Muthiya gets steamed & cut it into pieces if you made long rope like shapes.

~ Next is to fry them, take a pan, pour 3-4 tsp oil, heat it & add cumin seeds(jeera), mustard seeds(rai), sesame seeds(til), indian lilac leaves(neem ke patte)..

~ Add your choice of veggies(we took onions, capsicum, boiled corns & peas), indian spices or herbs for tangy taste(chatpata swad), also you an add little bit sugar for that “Khatta-Meetha Gujarati touch” & fry them until they turns golden brown.

~ Add Steamed Muthiya to this & cover with a lid & cook for 2-3 minutes..

~ Serve it hot with Coriander Chutney & garnish it with some coriander leaves & sesame seeds..

thanks for weekly themes this is our dessert for the week🤩😍
Will be sharing the video of making the pudding in our next post.💜☺️

Ingredients :
Hide and Seek Biscuits- 2 small packets
Sugar- 2tsp
A pinch of salt
Baking powder- 1/4 tsp
Vanilla essence- 1/4 tsp (optional)
Oil- 1/4 cup
Milk- 1/4 cup
Instant coffee powder- 1 tsp
Water- 3-4 tsp
Fresh cream- 200 ml
Powdered sugar- 2 tsp

Recipe:

1. Preparing Hide & Seek Biscuit Cake~~~
~~Firstly we will prepare hide and seek biscuit cake..
Take 1 packet of hide and seek biscuit, put biscuits in a mixer, add 2 tsp sugar and grind it into fine powder.
In a bowl mix all dry ingredients with the biscuit mixture.
Now add wet ingredients- vanilla essence, oil and milk.
Mix well and make smooth batter.
Brush the oil on cake tin or on butter paper, transfer the cake batter, bake the cake either in oven or gas as per your choice for 15 minutes. Once the cake is prepared, cool it down & crumble it with hands.
>>>>>>

2. Coffee mixture~~~
~~In another bowl, prepare instant coffee mixture (take instant coffee powder and add some water) and keep it aside.
